Modern* Control UBR (Grixis)

simple: get Emrakul, the Aeons Torn out by turn 5-6... with the right combination. (one does not simply hard-summon Emrakul)

i was pouring through deck lists and found Jhoira of the Ghitu. i immediately fell in love. a nice combination of Master Transmuter and Elvish Piper that suits my playstyle. but what sets Jhoira apart is that she doesn't have to tap. haste baby!

however, what really makes her unique is "suspend." i delved into the rules and found it to be a very effective and safe summoning tool. essentially, it takes the mana cost of summoning large spells like Deep-Sea Kraken and Curse of the Cabal, and translates it into time. enough large spells can be cast at once to make your opponent tremble in trepidation at their arrival. when they do show up, they hit the ground running, and you can cast other spells at the same time! if Jhoira does it, it's an ability, and can't be countered except by some really degenerate cards.

then you need to speed up the process. so throw in some unique cards that remove time counters from suspended cards, like Fury Charm and Rift Elemental, and voila! the equivalent of manaramp, but with TIME... oohhh, timeramp...

if that doesn't go too well, then there are some countermeasures thrown in for fun, just to make sure the other player can't get card advantage before you do.

to be honest, Emrakul is in there more to protect against milling and attrition.

sure to please all you johnnies out there with a phat wallet.

this is only a prototype, so please comment, suggest, anything to help improve the deck.

cheers!
