Sucks to be Burn —April 6, 2014
Added Leyline of Sanctity in place of Sundering Growth.
I was thinking of adding in one more Rule of Law truth be told. But the few times I lost was more due to user error. I could have easily made it into the top 4 if I had played better on one crucial turn my final match. So I'm actually very happy with it as it is.The mainboard served me amazingly. I was able to take down most tier 1 decks that I faced without any problems. On a random note my favorite moment of the tournament was when I was dueling this guy who was piloting a combo deck. I Thoughtseize ed and saw 2 Cryptic Command s in his hand. Then I played Surgical Extraction to get rid of the 2nd one. Such shenanigans. I think I'll take out 1 Dismember in place for another Rule of Law . Besides that the deck functions very smoothly.

Dude you need to make room for Brimaz, King of Oreskos , he is the fucking boss!

You have no idea how much I have been agonizing over that card. That card is amazing, no doubt about it. But what do I replace? Does it take Hero of Bladehold 's spot? It doesn't have as much firepower as hero, but it can be played a turn earlier. It also has vigilance and gives vigilance tokens. What I'm thinking of doing is compromising and getting one Brimaz, King of Oreskos and having one hero and one cat.

take out one Caves of Koilos , and one Spectral Procession (I think you get too flooded too often), and seeing as you will get your avg. cmc down, I don't see the issue. Put in 2x Brimaz, King of Oreskos .
Here's why; you would ofc rather play Brimaz than Spectral, as he will give of more consistant dmg because of tokengeneration AND vigilance. Keeping your 2x Hero of Bladehold is crucial too, as you would need her later token generation.

I think 22 land is a good amount for me. I've had times of mana screw and I still want to be able to pull of Vault of the Archangel . And my token generators I think should stay the same. It's a good balance where it's at now and I don't want to mess that up. And vishnarg I considered that card originally but other cards have a higher priority than it does in this deck. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I just finished making this deck and I like it a lot. My friend made a suggestion about putting Dark Confidant in for extra card draw. Do you think that would work? Also what about Leyline of Sanctity for side board against decks like storm? I'm not quite sure what to sideboard in or out for some matchups

Bile Blight is you rnew favorite hated card :D
February 5, 2014 9:40 a.m.
Yes, Bile Blight does indeed kill all tokens with the same type. It will blow up all the Lingering Souls or Raise the Alarm soldiers.

Yeah, but will not kill everything, I misread it, Ratchet Bomb is still much more efficient :/

Harperod do you mean you built a b/w token deck as well? Not totally sure what you meant. And Dark Confidant is a great card, I just personally found it to not hold as much weight as other cards could. It was in the first draft of this deck ages ago. And yeah, Ratchet Bomb is a bitch for sure. Hate that card. And the problem with Leyline of Sanctity against storm is that storm doesn't JUST use Grapeshot as its win condition all the time. For instance the storm deck I played used both that and Empty the Warrens .

Hellriding_Spitfire, I've considered Sorin, Lord of Innistrad in the past, but I can only afford to have around 2 4 mana costing cards, and those spots just have to go to my Hero of Bladehold s. And I don't think your +1 went through but it's the thought that counts! Appreciate it!

Yes, for the most part I made your deck. Except I play 2 Duress , 3 Thoughtseize , 1 Surgical Extraction ... Extraction has won me a few games main boarding it especially against combo, which are obnoxious. Is there a certain card(s) you sideboard out more than others?
February 6, 2014 1:59 a.m.
I love Surgical Extraction but I don't think it has a place in the main board personally. And one thing I would consider is that while Tidehollow Sculler is vunerable to creature removal he can get rid of a lot more threats then Duress can. Inquisition of Kozilek would also be better than duress in Modern. As for my sideboard...Hmm...It depends on the meta. I will often use Torpor Orb , especially against combo. Batwing Brume is pretty beautiful against combo as well. But I when I played against combo the first time hand disruption alone was enough even without the sideboard. I use Dismember the least; it usually only sees play against affinity.

Unfortunately I don't have inquisition so I had to put in Duress for now... Yeah Tidehollow Sculler is a beast! Thanks for the advice. Really want to take this deck to a tournament, it's just so damn versatile!
Def +1 from me

Well I hope you do well if you take this to a tournament. A good token deck can sweep a tournament that doesn't have any token users in its meta. Stony Silence is a good defense against the hated Ratchet Bomb if people are prepared for it though; I highly recommend having it in your sideboard. And thanks!

If you're playing BW tokens in Modern, you need Bitterblossom . You should also find room for Brimaz. Check out this article on the wizards website: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/rc/287

Brimaz is something I've been debating to myself for a while now. And thanks, but Im good without Bitterblossom . The token deck in the link you showed me had an emphasis on firepower, so bitter blossom fit well there. My build prefers control over firepower though, and a late game bitterblossom would be useless to me. Thanks for the comment and the link though!

cssain, Silence works will with a lot of stalling decks, but it wouldn't work quite as well in here. I would rather have my hand disruption then a Silence , as a good Thoughtseize can neutralize an otherwise good hand. With Silence all I do is delay the inevitable. Also, with hand disruption I get a feel as to how they're hand is and what to look out for.

I playtested this deck against my modern UWR list and what i realized is, you have a big weakness to Spell Snare - although i'm pretty sure you are going to sideboard hardly against it - everytime i had spell snare on hand, it pretty much won me the game by prolonging the game.Auriok Champion was definitely the most problematic card in your deck if not countered promptly, however hitting for only 1 per turn was tankable if not buffed by several enchantments.Have you played against UWR Control lists before and how did you perform? What sets me apart from most of the other UWR lists is that i do not run any Geist of Saint Traft as a wincon, instead i run a singleton copy of White Sun's Zenith and some other stuff which also won me one game.

After the successful tournament are there any changes you would make to the deck to smooth it out after certain losses?
