okay last comment in this line. my favorite "gain control of" ever has been Spinal Embrace its worth the mana cost especially if you want to whack someone with their own beefy general

I can see Mind Funeral as a niche card against decks that run green ramp though i'd have to say Consuming Aberration would be brilliant in the spot instead, despite the graveyard hate. Even if you had something like Leyline of the Void out, the likelihood of you getting it in your opening hand is pretty low while the aberration can still be on the board with the cards the leyline hadn't exileds

Im surprised you're not running card:Grafdigger's Cage

February 4, 2013 8:59 a.m.

You forget that I run Nihil Spellbomb and Bojuka Bog . Those will remove the cards and then kill Consuming Aberration

I was thinking along the lines of in multiplayer games which is normally what EDH is played as, consuming aberration becomes worth a lot more on the field.

February 4, 2013 1:55 p.m.

True but I'd use him more for the effect than attacking. Nemesis of Reason is my only REAL creature for attacking, and that's cause he mills ten when he does. Combo that with Sword of Body and Mind and if he hits, 20 cards and a wolf token.

I can completely see that, it's a no-brainer, otherwise whats the point of nemesis? I don't think it would hurt to have an alternate win-con if your milling wont get anywhere due to things like Kozilek and Ulamog and even if Consuming Aberration just sits there with that ability, its a decent wall and deterrent to your opponents attacking you, besides the fact that it's ability affects all opponents simultaneously...

Also, it emulates your commander's ability on a larger scale, though most of the spells here are all over at the 5cmc side of the spectrum, i don't see you having much trouble chaining spells together to abuse the triggered abilities of both cards...

@gheridarigaaz If he has out Lazav, Dimir Mastermind the best thing in the world would be to mill an Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre . Hexproof, indestructible, Pseudo-haste (If he played it on a previous turn), and Annihilator 4.

I do agree though that Consuming Aberration should be added, probably not for Nemesis of Reason 's slot but still added for sure.

February 4, 2013 8:20 p.m.

@gheridarigaaz: That's why you have graveyard hate. Nihil Spellbomb , Bojuka Bog , and Leyline of the Void all screw over the Eldrazi Titans. If I mill into them before I can get either I have graveyard shuffle effects to bring back my graveyard to my library, to reset my milling

@Ohthenoises: What would you suggest I take out for one then? (Keep in mind that I already have plans for changing some of the deck so look at Epoch's post)

As much as I don't want your curve to go UP any I have to say that Hedron Crab in EDH is HIGHLY underwhelming. you only have 3 fetchlands that can make him more valuable and he targets so he is useless in multipayer. Yes you are getting 3 cards per turn but it's pretty abysmal value for a slot.

On the other hand gheridarigaaz brings up a good point. Consuming Aberration is LITERALLY a direct upgrade to Mind Funeral .

February 4, 2013 9:54 p.m.

You failed to look at my responsive post to Epoch's suggestions. I already decided to take the Crab out. What else that I didn't plan on taking out would you suggest I remove?(And not Mind Funeral

One thing that could be noted is that you might have too many lands. 42 lands is quite a bit, perhaps a few too many. In 3 or 5 color decks that would be perfectly fine, but in a dual color deck it might not be as effective. My suggestion is lowering your land amounts to 34-38 lands, depending on your preference. This would also free up a few slots for other important cards.

Some suggestions: Consecrated Sphinx , Wrexial, the Risen Deep , Traumatize , Tragic Slip , Mesmeric Orb , Propaganda , Rhystic Study

I run 42 lands and yet, still manage to get screwed every now and then. I could drop two lands for Consecrated Sphinx and Propaganda

I'd fixed that problem by fitting in as much filtering as possible. Ponder's already in the deck, Preordain could be added, Brainstorm , See Beyond . If a card digs deep enough, add it to the deck. Increasing the deck's consistency is more important than having cool interactions.

filtering is good but why have one shots when you can reuse them. scry is one of the best tools that rarely see past blue. while Preordain , Brainstorm and See Beyond are nice they may end up taking spots that you wish were more offensive. if your budget allows it i'd say Sensei's Divining Top and Scroll Rack can do this wonders. not to mention blue and black tutor up artifacts and since they are both low costs to can Fabricate top or even transmute Dimir Infiltrator for rack. if you dont have the big bucks just yet, Crystal Ball or Darksteel Pendant work well

Let the record reflect that I was the first person to suggest Szadek. :D:D Also, add Consuming Aberration . And yes, I have read through all the comments that you decided to leave up, and yes you have graveyard hate, but nonetheless, it's still a fantastic card, and if not dealt with, after one turn, it easily becomes a 12/12. Playtest with it.

March 28, 2013 12:50 p.m.

You missed the deck though, cause I added him already

Hey, Umbro (long time no chat) where the heck is the Traumatize?

April 10, 2013 3:12 p.m.

Hi Inces. It's unneeded. I get plenty of mill done without it.

My opinion, take out Feldon's Cane, because if someone else uses Acquire they can prolong their death with your card

April 10, 2013 3:32 p.m.

While that is true, I can stop it with Bojuka Bog , Nihil Spellbomb , and Leyline of the Void

I honestly love this deck, though there are a few more cards coming with Maze that you should definitely look into. And Wrexial can become useful too, allowing you to cast a card to speed up your deck or stop someone else, because all the EDH decks I play against are turn 6 wins and your mill deck just would not get to it's potential in time....

Also! You should help me make an EDH deck based around Vela the Night-Clad , just a bunch of bouncing and AEther hand return effects

Why not throw in Notion Thief ? There's a liiiittle bit of card draw in EDH ;D
Not to mention he makes Little Jace a reasonable option (and isn't he adorable?)
