Every creature in this deck is both a Merfolk and a Wizard. Tribal tribal. Some notes:

  • Yes, it's very thrown together. I saw someone suggest it in a discussion of how merfolk wizards were secretly "wizards of the coast," and the idea sounded interesting, so I ran with it and put together this list in a couple hours.

  • The basic plan is aggro-control, relying on a few evasion effects and a lot of tapping effects to get through blockers. Talrand, Lullmage Mentor, and Master of Waves all make lots of creature tokens, and there are several other cards that give me a few here and there.

  • At first there was a milling subtheme, but I took it out to be more focused. Only one relic of that remains: Psychic Spiral. It's an instant-speed way to reshuffle my graveyard into my library, if there's anything I want to reuse. Considering how much stalling and how much card-drawing this deck has anyway, it could easily mill an opponent for 50 cards. That's a win out of nowhere if they aren't expecting it, or a nice favor for someone who wants to mill themselves if I want to play politics. That's worth one card.
