Hey everyone. Still tweaking and re-tweaking this. Will try to get some playtesting in tmrw.

Thanks TMBRLZ. I so need to get a new favourite brewing card!!

Hey ToolmasterOfBrainerd, Deathstokemarkov12. Yeah it is indeed a brew. There's better lists out there if you want the 'best' Mardu list. I just like using cards you see less often or that are just plain fun. If we can make it competitive, then cool.

Hey Bababad. The wumpus synergy feels pretty good. Need to test it all though.

Planning to take this to an FNM, so if anybody gets the chance to playtest and recommends any last tweaks let me know!

Love this tread and deck. Really looking for some combos for Sin Prodder and I found quite a few.

My first thoughts were the synergy with madness spells, but the wording isn't quite right. Wonder why they would dodge madness with this. Could have had so much more flavor.

I dig the deck. I wonder how good Shivan Wumpus is for you. On paper a potential 5/5 trample for 2 that destroys lands if opponents try to stop it from hitting the board sounds good, but I imagine that in many cases in a drawn out game opponents will gladly sac a land a turn to keep you from drawing into new cards. Then again the synergy with Sin Prodder is really nice. How has it performed for you?

Sorry for the double post but what are your thoughts on adding Faithless Looting (I know your already considering it) and Vengeful Pharaoh to the deck? Looting would help you dig for Heartless Summoning and dump redundant copies and the two cards in tandem could stall opponents from attacking you in the early game. Also pharaoh has nice synergy with Sin Prodder and Heartless Summoning.

Hey Lilbrudder thanks! I had Vengeful Pharaoh in the very first build, but the consensus was it probably wasn't right. Looting I'm not sure on, and I've been adding it in and taking it out of builds.

On the basis there's approx 60% chance not to have heartless in an opening hand, and the deck really only deals well with a single mulligan, I've been trying to work out if it needs more draw.

Faithless I guess is technically card disadvantage, so I did consider Night's Whisper. That and the wall of omens as a stall tactic that replaces itself.

Gitaxian Probe has been suggested as well.

The wumpus I'm on the fence about. Past testing with heartless has always suggested that you need to either drop value the opponent can't match of something that fundamentally tips the board state. At the minute tuk tuk and wumpus have cool synergy with both heartless and sin prodder, but part of me loved zurgo's haste and Inferno Titan's etb. Not sure if big beaters is quite enough for the format.

Previously I've used Thunderbreak Regent which is more of a pain for people to remove, but still evasive.

Will have to see.

So, post FNM notes.

Went down 2:1 to an Izzet/snapcaster/thing in the ice deck. One game one by recurring discard via dark dwellers, recovering from a cryptic command, and quickly rebuilding the board state. Games 2 and 3 were pretty close, just missed removal for dealing with flipped TITI.

Nobody took the Shivan Wumpus bate meaning it tended to land on the table. Although somebody with a green populate tokens deck rage quit in the first game when it came down T3.

Got pasted v eldrazitron.

My main thoughts were. The power of the deck is the cheap recursion of dark dwellers + kolaghans or removal or Hand disruption, giving 8 mana value for 3.

Tuk Tuk is cute, and dropping a 1 mana 4/4 is cool, but it feels like we need to focus more on disruption and affecting the board state. I'm going to try Bloodhusk Ritualist as I've had success before running it with heartless. I did running 2 x Avalanche Riders and 2 x Boom/Bust instead, but I think we may be better with discard than resource denial? Not sure on people's thoughts? Running 2 x inferno Titan as well as closers.

Bloodhusk Ritualist is too much mana. Boom/Bust and Faithless Looting don't belong in here. Not sure about Avalanche Riders, but I guess. Fulminator Mage might be better, since it's the same cost with Heartless Summoning on the field, and 1 less mana without it on the field. I don't think a 4-of Fulminator would be that unreasonable.

Liliana of the Veil would be fantastic in here as a 4-of, but my god is she expensive.

Inferno Titan is a lot of mana, and both Grave Titan and Sun Titan are arguably better. However, I don't think any of them are necessary.

Hey ToolmasterOfBrainerd. Yeah Liliana would be a good fit. Just the budget!!...

ToolmasterOfBrainerd. Just thinking again, there may be another Mardu brew in Sun Titan, + fulminator Mage and maybe flickerwhisp + dark dwellers + kolaghans off heartless. Same kind of removal suite. Sort of like a dark emeria titan but focused on land destruction and recursion over life gain and blinks.

April 24, 2016 2:54 p.m.

Ooh.... now you have me intrigued. I REALLY like the idea of that deck. It should probably also play something like Smallpox or Boom/Bust or Molten Rain so you can hit land destruction with GDD. Simian Spirit Guide would be a necessary include, as would Flagstones of Trokair.

Unending Torment is a Mardu Smallpox deck that's pretty cool. Check it out for some ideas and a starting point.

Love the sun titan idea you might be exploring.

I really like the current build you have up, though if you take this to FNM you might regret the full set of HS with such a low creature base.

Very interested to see the Sun titan/land destruct variant! :)

In that new brew, consider Nahiri, the Harbinger she does serious work in land destruct

What kind of Modern FNM were you at you were playing somebody with G/W Populate?

ToolmasterOfBrainerd, Bababad. Here you go:

Penny (pennies) for your thoughts!

TMBRLZ, yeah I know. Casual newish player. Somebodies friend I think. Not taking too much from that win!

That explains him conceding to a turn 3 5/5. Clearly he's never seen Abzan. XD

I'll miss the Wumpus but I like the more synergistic mold you're giving the deck now. Tasi along with your clay pigeon creatures to bring them back around like an endless Snapcaster Mage is pretty sweet.

If I could +1 again I would.
