Thanks for the suggestions! I've added Sign in Blood in place of Dream Salvage; though I'm considering Read the Bones. Altar's Reap and Cry of Contrition are more suited to creature heavy decks like yours.

There's also Night's Whisper but you can't finish your opponent off by playing it and as long as you're playing mono, it's cmc doesn't bothers you. Read the Bones is nice but costs more and when your deck is like 90% discard source, you don't really need to draw a specific card. Besides in my opinion it is better to play Sign in Blood + e.g. Raven's Crime than just Read the Bones in round 3 (having in mind that rack can be triggered).
I like my creatures, so I can perform some blocks against aggro decks and use their attack aginst them (Drainpipe Vermin or Cry of Contrition that you mentioned). Also sometimes I got some problems with getting rid of my opponents hand. So I put Stronghold Rats into my deck (Specter's Shroud is an alternative).
But I get it that you want the deck to stay that way. In this case think about some mass removals like Echoing Decay, Bile Blight or Flaying Tendrils for your sideboard.

Also you should think about plan B if you won't be able to remove your opponent's hand (form which i suffer sometimes). In that case I count on my low damage creatures, your plan B might be e.g. Consume Spirit, Exsanguinate or even Death Cloud on the sideboard?

Thanks for taking an interest in the deck! I've considered adding Bile Blight to the sideboard though i'm not sure it would work. It's best vs tokens but that's what Ratchet Bomb is for.
If for some reason I can't empty their hand I just shrivel up and die. But for every game after that I can switch in Pack Rat and beat them up over time. I admit it isn't the greatest plan, but it works pretty well.

Its great to see a budget version of this deck.
If you're running Funeral Charm purely for removal I would drop it in favour of Tragic Slip as it pairs with Augur of Skulls quite well.
I would consider Grasp of Darkness over Victim of the night, but this is dependent on your meta, if many people are playing Huntmaster of the Fells Flip in your meta or Gravecrawlers it could be worth it.
Sideboard tech -
Lost Legacy can deal with Ancient Grudge or any enchantment/artifact hate you see
Liliana's Specter helps your win condition and defends against flyers, can be handy against any deck running Lingering Souls
March 21, 2017 6:13 p.m.
I'm running Funeral Charm as both removal and discard, it can wreck someone's turn by making them discard whatever they just drew (assuming their hand is empty) or it can murder little creatures like that witch Thalia, Guardian of Thraben.
Ooh, I like Lost Legacy. I might have to add that; it's like a budget Surgical Extraction! (sort of)
I was going to try Grasp of Darkness but it costs more than I'm willing to pay at the moment.
Liliana's Specter is a bit high on mana cost for the deck, at 20 lands the only thing I'd be willing to run that costs is Liliana of the Veil, Lost Legacy, (maybe) or Necrogen Mists. (two of which are out of my $60 budget at the moment)

Hi, Im sorry to tell you Ive run a very very similar deck to this one (cry of constriction combo with augur instead of pharikas cure), and let me tell you, it wont work as you expect it. In competitive modern I got wrecked like everytime. Unless you want to play casual, dont waste money on it. You see, letting them choose what to discard, usually gives them advantage, because aggros literally dont care, turn 3/4 and youre done (and your discard is never that fast), and controls... well if discarding is not their main purpose, they control your hand before you control theirs. Btw augur seems good but its bad, usually gets the removal before activating because they know you have few creatures. Im not saying dont do it, just warning you if you expect competitive play.

Thanks for the warning! I already own the deck as it was for a budget tournament. It was rather successful, there by netting me third place. I only plan on running this for casual play now. But it worked and will continue to work in budgeted games.

I mean if youre going to budget tournaments, then yes, go ahead!Otherwise Casual is the best option.Keep on the good work! Im also trying to make budget "Great Again"!

Maybe try Ravenous Rats for added creatures and discard? It will stick with the whole budget idea.

A cmc of is a little high for this deck, it might be a replacement for Augur of Skulls but i'm not sure yet.

New card officially spoiled that may have a place over Smother! That's right, I'm talking about none other than Doomfall! here is a link to the card: http://www.mythicspoiler.com/hou/cards/doomfall.html

Dude do not changes anything on your main deck... for last 2 weeks i have been playing the deck! i have gone 3 and 1, only thing you need put in your sideboard is something that can stop leyline of sanctity
July 28, 2017 10:19 p.m.
I am overjoyed to hear you had as much success with this deck as i have!
Now, about Leyline of Sanctity, It simply isn't common enough for me to worry about.
I assume it is in your meta and that is why you bring it up; the best option would be to splash green for Golgari Charm, Nature's Claim, etc.
Other options are sideboard Pack Rat or Hunted Horror over Nyxathid to just beat them to death.

If i had a token right now... i would feature queue this deck again... for last 3 weeks i have gone 3w-1L gotten in the top 4 everytime..
August 10, 2017 3:17 p.m.
Fascinating. Have you made any modifications to my list that i might be able to use>? I am very interested in what your experiences could offer to the deck.
August 10, 2017 3:34 p.m.
Well in my sideboard i have 3 Nature's Claim, 2 Leyline of the Void, 3 Surgical Extraction.. 4 Duress.i have black green duel lands make sure where i'm able play green
August 10, 2017 10:45 p.m.
Well then, you might be interested in my new pet project; Table of Less Budgeted Terror. Admittedly it is just a copy of this deck with some additions i plan on making when i have the cash, but you should find it interesting nonetheless!

I gave up on Dream Salvage for Altar's Reap, Sign in Blood. You might also like: Cry of Contrition it makes great synergy in my deck.
