I know they're expensive CMC, but Exquisite Blood and Defiant Bloodlord could make an interesting showing in here. Just a little nudge and it cycles itself until they're dead.

I used to play a deck based off of Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond actually. It was really fun to play, but it just didn't stack up to the opposition in modern due to the relative slowness of the deck. I think something like it could make a showing as a G/B ramp splash White for the heals to finish. I might actually take that idea out for a spin. Thanks for the suggestion!

I also forgot to say +1 on the deck. You've inspired me to take my own B/W Tainted Remedy Deck into Abzan territory.

This is a really neat idea, but at the end of the day, isn't it just a burn deck that's harder to run than normal burn? Does it offer anything that burn doesn't?

Have you thought about adding Congregate? It is higher than your Avg. CMC.

lord_blackfang: You're right in a way. It's a hell of a lot more fun to play in my opinion and there are situations where this can prove better than your average burn. Since the card text on Tainted Remedy reads "player loses that much life" it doesn't count as damage, therefore it's real good against fogs as well as soul sisters and a few others.
Superflu_s: I had Congregate in here at one point, but first of all, CMC is a bit too high for this deck like you said. And it's also a fairly unreliable source of damage as I don't have many creatures in this deck, and I don't want to rely on their deck to power it. It might be a fun win condition against Twins (actually, I'd kill to win that way, it'd be so great) but I wouldn't want it taking up sideboard space specifically for that matchup.

Ok, love the deck. I have a suggestion, though. As an early blocker, use Wall of Shards. It'll help your opponent at first, but then once you get out tainted remedy, it will utterly DESTROY them. +1

IZZETannoying: Thanks a lot dude! And what do you suggest I take out for it?

You could maybe drop a mana dork, such as Elvish Mystic, but I personally would lose the Alms Beast, because it would speed the deck up. Your deck is not aggro at all, so having a large creature isn't really going to help. Wall of Shards gives you some air defense, and that can be really valuable, especially with how your deck plays pseudo-control. That's just my two bits. I'd ask for a few more opinions before finalizing it.

O.o What even is this! I love it! Beautiful creative description. (Checks price...)AND BUDGET. YOU JUST MADE MY DAY, which is tough seeing as it's christmas eve. +10000000

IZZETannoying: I think I'll keep Alms Beast since it's a 6/6 for and really kills when remedy is out. I'll cut 3x Rebuff the Wicked since it's useless against Abrupt Decay and stick with 4x Faith's Shield.I will stick in 2x Wall of Shards. It seems like the way to go. I do need some blockers.
Minelia5: Thank you so much! I'm glad I could help! It's taken a lot of work to build this up to what it is and I'm pretty proud of it to be honest. I really like finding creative and different takes on decks. I honestly don't like playing anything that is prebuilt. I feel like it's dishonest and cheaty (even though it's not). There's something about building something out of a random though and being successful with it that is just so addictive. But if I'm being totally candid, I haven't built this deck or played with it at all lol. I plan on proxying it next week or something and playing it against my friend's Geist and Abzan.

Vizkopa Guildmage for giving enemies lifelink or in case you don't get Tainted Remedy so you can still win with Beacon of Immortality
Edit: sorry about that, I missed the ? button.
I was suggesting it, not telling you to add it :P

I actually like that a hell of a lot better. Thanks!

cool dude, glad I could help! I'm gonna mess around with my own version if that's ok. I'm thinking about upping the count on wall of shards, seeing as the cumulative upkeep gets bigger each turn.

Go for it man. Tear it apart and rebuild it into something more!

This deck is amazing!!! I've always wanted to build a Tainted Remedy deck and I always thought they were expensive. But this has two awesome parts: the budget is OUTSTANDING and.... it's Abzan!!!!

Love the deck! I chuckled at the sight of Beacon of Immortality and Tainted Remedy, it's such a gloriously scumbaggy combo.
Just curious, have you actually played the deck at any modern events, and if you have, what are the matchups like? Or is the deck just theoretical?

Thanks Blue_Flame and MegaMage! And Blue_Flame, I haven't gotten it yet, but I'm going to proxy it soon to see if it really plays that well. I mean this deck doesn't really have any "good matchups" per-say, at least from what you can tell by looking at it. But I feel like it will hold it's own a lot better than burn and against a wider range of decks. If you want to play it non-budget, I'd play more fetches and junk, along with some Abrupt Decay and Path to Exile.

I recommend Auramancer, Mine Excavation, and Idyllic Tutor. As to grab your Tainted Remedy from deck or back from graveyard.
