Smother, Go for the Throat and a few others would be best in here. You need instant speed removal. Condemn doesnt work because fetchlands allow the player to shuffle.
You can probably grab a few copies of Birds of Paradise very cheap. Some versions are cheaper than others.
You cant cast Beacon of Immortality with 21 lands and 6 mana dorks. You just won't reach it in time.
The deck seems fine but your entire gameplan is Tainted Remedy and you have very few ways of either finding it, or casting it. If you fail then the decks falls down. This is risky.

Here's my list if it helps: Oops, that was the poison ehehe
Started brewing as soon as I saw Tainted Remedy, mine is BW "life gain". I added Idyllic Tutor, but only one cuz I'm trying to whittle down the price of the deck.

Glad I am not the only one to fall in love with Tainted Remedy. I also began brewing immediately. Here is what I came up with: The conspiracy lives on...
I am quite proud of it, it isn't budget pretty much exclusively because of Bob and my mana base. I like the addition of green here for ramp, however, I ultimately ended up dropping Beacon of Immortality for the reason ChiefBell already mentioned... It is slow. I also added an additional win-con with Pack Rat. The main advice I can offer is that you need card draw. Black is pretty good at it, and paying life is not really an issue. For a budget approach to this I recommend Phyrexian Arena. Same mana cost as Remedy, so you can fetch it with Machinations. Best of luck to you.

Wait, does Beacon of Immortality count as gaining life?

After a few rounds of playtesting, I like the changes ChiefBell and Scytec have suggested. It runs a lot more smoothly now, especially with Beacon of Immortality in the sideboard for longer games and Phyrexian Arena running sick draw.

I agree, what is funny is that, since you dropped Beacon, your curve tops at 3. So you no longer need any rappers. You can drop those 7 cards for more control, additional win-cons, defensive creatures, or more card draw. :p Good luck again! Deck does look much better though.

Maybe run some more cards with a cmc of 3 to better justify running 4 Dimir Machinations. I would recommend a Liliana of the Veil, however this is a budget deck, so maybe Dismember or Ghostly Prison- cards which are somewhat tool-boxy which will give you the edge when you transmute for them.

I'd be careful with that...your curve is good right now. If you start adding in a bunch of late drops, you hinder your interaction turns one and two. You might be able to stand adding 2-3 more...and you'll need to playtest that to see how your ratios are. Not sure what other 3-drops you need for this build to be honest. Unless you have an additional win-con in mind.

Penga: The reason I have Dimir Machinations instead of some other transmute or Idyllic Tutor is because it's still somewhat useful for it's vanilla use. I can fuck up their topdeck pretty easily with that card if the need arises.

True; I only run 2 in my list, however am considering running 3. Personally I only screw my opponent's draws when they are top-decking. Otherwise I usually prefer casting a Dismember off of it after reaching 4 mana (assuming I've already found Tainted Remedy).

I would imagine that the two are interchangeable, depending on the meta you expect to play in.
December 30, 2015 8:17 a.m.
They're pretty interchangeable.
Neither hit rhino, tasigur, or gurmag angler.
One hits Dark Confidant, the other doesn't.
The best option is probably Go for the Throat really. In a non affinity meta.

You know Grove of the Burnwillows could be funny in this deck although the colors it produces and value compared to its absurd price are a bit lacking in this deck, but still something to think about.

I agree with Mono-White-Man. Nature's Claim would be strong in the sideboard.

I don't like Idyllic Tutor because it's useless once I have my remedy. I have Dimir Machinations for its transmute ability to fetch for remedies and it's at least somewhat useful if I already have them. And as far as the others go, some might be sideboarded, but I feel like my protection is solid enough to keep my remedies from going away until the game is won.
