This deck tries to abuse Tainted Remedy via the card
Roar of Jukai
. Essentially, the plan is to find Remedy, put it into play, and then kill the opponent by splicing Roar onto multiple, cheap Arcane spells.
For the purposes of this deck, the card basically reads: "When you cast an Arcane spell, reveal this card in your hand and your opponent loses 5 life", which, unless I'm mistaken, turns this penny common that's completely off-color into the most efficient burn spell in the entire game.
To this purpose, I've included a number of 1-mana Arcane spells with semi-relevant effects and which do not target so they can't whiff because their target is removed.
Spiritual Visit
creates a 1/1 flying blocker, Ethereal Haze acts as a Fog, and
Pure Intentions
stops discard effects that might disrupt your combo (I also imagine that it's hilarious against 8-Rack).
Of course, this deck relies so heavily on Tainted Remedy and
Roar of Jukai
that winning without them is nigh-impossible, so to help find them, we have Dimir Machinations, which can Transmute itself into whichever card we need.
The deck also runs an alt-win condition with Beacon of Immortality, should you find yourself in a grind. The card auto-kills any player while Tainted Remedy is in play, so you can even beat a deck that has an infinite life combo.
Overall, the deck can do some really powerful stuff, but I'm not sure if that stuff is efficient enough to be competitive, or just cute. Either way, it's a weird deck which uses very few of its cards for their intended purposes, so I like it.
