Technically you could use Proteus Staff as a way to stack your deck; it says when you're done looking you can put the cards back in any order, so you'd get to pick what you draw the next several turns.
Also would be fun against Voltron decks that don't yet have Hexproof.

Hi Grantley91, I never thought of that before you know! It's fairly tempting to include with no creatures just to arrange the entire deck how I like.. I may have to do some experimenting with it!

Arena of the Ancients would work super well here since talrand is your only legendary creature. Also Augur of Bolas could be good here.
I have a pretty similar deck called Talrand EDH: How To Make Your Friends Quit Magic if you wanna draw some ideas. I definitely went more counterspell oriented.

Shane.Allen and p4rtykn3cht, thank you for your comments!
Joe40, thank you for your suggestions! Augur of Bolas is a nice card for this type of deck, but as it says in my description I like playing this as a creatureless build. Arena of the Ancients does seem pretty sweet but I don't feel I would want to lose anything in place of it. Definitely one to think about and maybe test though!
I just checked your deck, it looks pretty sweet!

Hey it's been a while, but I have some more suggestions for you again. The new Unwind from Dominaria I thought you might be interested in, and also Wizard's Retort.

Hi Delta-117, thank you for the new suggestions! I am already considering Wizard's Retort, not sure what to cut for it though at the minute. Unwind is an excellent counter, however I'm not a big fan of having counter spells that aren't all encompassing. I may play test it but I don't think it will make the deck permanently.

Hi Ashmed I have recently begun getting into the whole world of MTG and am loving it so far.I was just browsing through here and reading up on stuff and your deck looks like a lot of fun.Just one question though, why wouldn't you make use of stuff like Propaganda since you're running acreatureless build. Wouldn't that give some workspace/breathing room? Or am I missing something entirely?
April 14, 2018 10:31 a.m.
Hi Zabrakus, thank you for your kind words! I hope that your journey into Magic is enjoyable :) Whilst Propaganda and similar effects are useful I like to keep my non-land permanents to a minimum and generally find that I have enough responses to attackers to not need it.

since you don't have creatures Proteus Staff is quite good as you can use it on a token produced by talrand and since you don't find any creatures all your entire deck is put on the bottom of your library in any order meaning you get to stack your entire deck any way you like

Hi GoldenMunchkin, thank you for the suggestion. Proteus Staff has come up a couple of times for this deck with that exact idea in mind. I agree it would be incredibly useful to be able to stack the deck as I see fit and I may experiment with it in the future, however I quite like the random nature of things since I am not a super competitive player.

Ashmed I was just wondering, having peered through your deck various times now and I'm really curious to start playing with it. As stated before, being the noob I am, I wanted to ask a few questions. Obviously it is your deck and your personalised playstyle. What strategies do you aim for with this deck? Massive control and keep blocking people? Making tons of tokens through your commander whilst disabling people? Is that also your wincondition?
I'd like to hear your vision about this, curious as I am :).
April 19, 2018 4:58 a.m.
Hi Zabrakus, thank you for showing so much interest in my deck! It means a lot to me that it has inspired you to start playing it. My strategy is generally control, utilising the cantrips as much as possible to keep drawing and making tokens. I rarely counter things unless they impact me directly (board wipes, targeted removal etc.). Big creatures usually get let through if they don't have negative ETB effects. My usual wincon is Cyclonic Rift or Sleep, followed by attacking with many tokens or Talrand eqipped with a Runechanter's Pike.

Ashmed Thank you for your insights! I'm curious to see how it turns out for me :). As I said I'm a noob so I'm still learning, but that's half the fun eh ;).

Not a problem Zabrakus, I hope you enjoy playing with it! If you have anymore questions please let me know :)

Hi Ashmed, it's me again haha. I just have 1 question. A friend of mine, has built his deck all around buffing 1 creature into the high heavens, with usually either applying hexproof directly (aura) or via another creature/enchantment granting hexproof. What can I use for that? Reality Shift, Summary Dismissal? Or does that not work anymore when they're hexproof'd up?
May 2, 2018 1:22 p.m.
Hi Zabrakus, your best bets for things like that are AEtherize, AEtherspouts or any mass removal spells that don't target creatures. Also useful is Arcane Lighthouse, which removes hexproof and shroud and allows you to use targeted removal. Tolaria West can help you to search out that land.

Hi Ashmed, thanks for the response and answer! I have judt playtested it and being the noob I am I was still struggling to get a feel for it, which is logical so I'll just keep at it. A few more thought bubbles appeared haha, opening hand, I assume (after the games) that you're mostly looking for a lot of islands/mana, like 5 out of 7? And the commander, when do you bring that out, asap or later on when you can immediately outfit it with equipments?
May 3, 2018 10:17 a.m.
Hi Zabrakus, not a problem! Definitely keep at it, it does get easier to get used to! In the beginning I like to aim for 3 or 4 islands and a couple of cantrips. Don't be afraid to use things like Ponder and Preordain before Talrand is out in order to help your draws! Gitaxian Probe is an amazing card to have in hand the turn you cast Talrand to get a drake and a card for just 2 life. I usually play Talrand turn 4 if the game is mellow, or turn 5 or 6 to have a couple of cards to use as soon as he is on the field.
May 3, 2018 10:22 a.m.
Well Ashmed, let's just say, my friends don't understand the word "mellow". They like to bring out big beasties rather quick and start hitting stuff. So I'm going to have to adapt to that! But this is valuable information, thank you! I shall do my best to absorb it haha. Probably going to take me a bit to actually use all of it to it's fullest potential, but that's half the fun I feel! P.S. Exactly this reason btw is why I asked you about propaganda in the first place haha.

If you did decide on adding a few key creatures, I would say it's hard to beat Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur also a couple of cards I find fun are Wash Out and Pull from Tomorrow

Hello Ashmed
Is the point of Quicken only for the card draw (and cheap tokens if Commander is in play)? or do you ever use it to cast an sorcery as instant, if yes, which?
June 8, 2018 8:40 a.m.
Hi Pixi, the primary use of Quicken is just as cheap and easy card draw as I do not run many sorceries in the deck. Sometimes the opportunities come up and I usually use Quicken to cast Talrand's Invocation, Sleep or Acquire in an opponents end step.

hoardofnotions, I agree with you that it would be cool, it's an excellent card! I'm not a fan of running tutors though, just a personal preference.
Ziembski, I see what you mean about it being a bad card to be cast against a creatureless deck! However I've never had it done to me personally and I feel I run enough counterspells to keep myself safe from it if it happens.
