Talrand: Draw & Polymorph

Commander / EDH* Mono-Blue

Chaos251

Sideboard

Maybeboard

Hey all,

So after playing with different Talrand ideas for a week or so, this is about what I've settled on. I know a ton (most) Talrand decks go full on draw-counterspell cantrips and just win out that way, but I wanted to try something different.

I've never played Blue before but always loved the big blue beasts that Blue had (leviathans, krakens, sphinxs, etc) and saw a few Talrand decks than ran a polymorph theme, so I went with that.

The idea of the deck is to get out those blue beasties and swing on in. Talrand helps build some defensive drakes/polymorph targets. Aside from that, the other cards are all draw power with a few ways to dissuade people from attacking me (Ex. Polymorphist's Jest, Aetherspouts).

I'm still tinkering with a few things before purchasing (I'm aiming to spend about $100 on the deck, I have a few cards already for it but not much, which is why Consecrated Sphinx is out of the deck for now).

I'm also trying to stick to the blue-creature theme, so no Eldrazi! (Which I know are the best polymorph targets aside from Blightsteel).

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm not going for a hugely competitive deck (I already have Omnath and Karador for those) so I know there are a lot of "better" cards that could be run (like the Eldrazi). I am looking to see if I'm missing any more cards like Aetherize and Cyclonic Rift (trying to fit in Devastation Tide at the moment).

Cards in the sideboard are ones I'm still really thinking about, the maybe board is all the ones that I doubt I will be fitting in.

Thanks for taking the time to read these far! I do appreciate it.
