Elspeth Tirel's ult kills your sand warriors because Tamar dies, you may want to watch out for that one. I'd suggest you replace her with the other Elspeth, Knight-Errant if you're playing her for the ult (I don't think your deck is reaally a life-gain type deck, and I don't really approve of 6 soldiers for 5 mana). I'd suggest you find more land ramp and take out things like the Skyknight Legionnaire. Although it's good in standerd, EDH isn't going to have games won by a 2/2 hitting on turn three. Give the Sand Warriors haste, or else you're on a two-turn delay every time you cast your commander. I'd also slightly lighten up on the early game cards, especially considering Tamar will leave play on the second turn because everyone's going to be ready for him. What you do want to do is cast Tamar and then send him back to the command zone before your ext upkeep, and you need a lot of land for that (especially doing it multiple times). Mainly throw in land ramp and add big bomb cards. (Aurelia, the Warleader is a nice one for that). Also, you're up 6 cards. I love the deck though, a nice refreshing aggro EDH deck.

Excellent suggestions. Keep in mind that I've never played an EDH game in my life, so I don't really know what to expect (or even really know fully how to play.) I had Avacyn's Pilgrim in, but took him out due to him not being a soldier (that and splashing green in white deck just to get white mana is absurd to me.)

The only reason I had Elspeth Tirel in and not the better one was because she originated in a mono-white soldier token format and she's much cheaper in terms of dollar value. You're right though, Elspeth, Knight-Errant would work phenomenally better.

Thanks a ton for the feedback. I'll try to abide closely.

Use both elspeths first of all, secondly, in my opinion you are focusing too much on the soldier aspect, and not so much what makes your general strong. Add some land ramp into the deck, play your general turn 3 or 4. with enough lands to make him awesome, only add in creatures that support soldiers, take out the creatures that are in because they are just soldiers, if you ramp enough ou will be able to make all of the soldiers you need and drawing more will become a waste of a draw. Edh is considered a slow format, but it isnt when played well. I'm going to post some links to soem EDH decks I've been fiddling with so you can judge the speed. Also I love playing red, and green and white is my favorite color combo. So hopefully you see something that you like. Also, i think i made a mono white soldier deck at one point or another so that should benefit you a little I hope. Good luck, and I hope you love EDH as much as I do :p

So there are quite a few so I'll say their colors so you can skip if you want:http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/gu-edh-combo-surprise/ GREEN BLUEhttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/norin-lord-of-chaos/ MONO RED (not finished yet)http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/jor-kadeeeeennn/ RED WHITE ARTIFACThttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/blow-your-fire-mind/ BLUE REDhttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/cost-of-royal-blood/ MONO WHITE SOLDIERhttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/feast-of-the-bloodbraided/ BLACK RED GREENhttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/stoutarms-cradle/ RED WHITE

Its a lot to see, but i truly hope there is some help in there.

@AzrielBarakiel: I've already got as much land-ramp as I think will fit appropriately... what more would you suggest? Also, wouldn't putting both Elspeths in sort of work against itself?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Not really, it all depends on your draw. Both are great cards in this deck. Also, check out Doubling Season

Bomber CorpsBoros EliteBoros RecruitBoros SwiftbladeDoomed TravelerElite VanguardFirefist StrikerFortress CyclopsWojek HalberdiersHeroes' Reunion

are all cards that are a little underpowered for EDH imo.

also maybe add a Stoneforge Mystic and some pretty awesome equipments. Lightning Greaves Swiftfoot Boots at the least. Cultivate Kodama's Reach Farseek Maybe some little guys who are probably druids or elves that have ETB land fetch?

Think of it this way, you put enough land ramp in to get a hand full or ramp and lands, then you are still doing alright because your general has to do with the number of lands you have in play. So I would still advise more even though you have a few.

Doubling Season is something I've always loved, but just can't justify the cost of paying, but great suggestions otherwise. Not so sure I like the equip idea, but I'll look into everything else.

Thanks!

For more land ramp (a defining characteristic of EDH), grab Explosive Vegetation, Ranger's Path, Kodama's Reach, Cultivate, and possibly Search for Tomorrow. All of those are suggestions, but Boundless Realms is a requirement. I have every single copy of all of those spells in my EDH decks (I have a few of each, BTW). Also, Sand Warriors have the Warrior subtype, so adding Warrior tribal might work well. I know it's meant to be a tribal Soldier deck, but you don't have to go overly tribal. My Maelstrom Wanderer deck is that way, and that's why it isn't broken! Also, token boost would be pretty good in this deck with the number of tokens you could have. You also might want to take out cards like Heroes' Reunion because lifegain is not nearly as good as just another creature or bomb in EDH. Windbrisk Heights, Rhys the Redeemed, and the Eldrazi Monument should definitely come in from the Maybeboard. Other than that, I still love the deck, and it does look like it has improved since last I looked.

I'd like to start by saying that you'd need to add a little bit more lands. I've tried playing less than 37-40 lands in my decks, and I was mana-screwed majority of the time. Since your general also costs a ton [7 mana], the more lands that are available to you earlier on, the better. Now, you're going to need acceleration. Kodama's Reach
, Cultivate
, Explosive Vegetation
, Ranger's Path
, and Boundless Realms
will all help you early on, getting lands you need out and on time, and ensuring you'll be drawing goodies for the rest of the game. Artifacts also allow you to ramp, Darksteel Ingot
, Chromatic Lantern
, and Gilded Lotus
. Perilous Forays
is also a great ramp spell, since you'd be producing a lot of tokens. You don't want to run out of steam in the middle of the game, just start relying on the top of your deck to win. Since you're playing tokens and making lots of creatures, Skullclamp
will be a sure way to get some extra cards. Collective Unconscious
 and Slate of Ancestry
will net you more cards, and Fecundity
will net you supreme card advantage after a boardwipe. Wait a minute, I've discussed all of those, but I still haven't discussed how you get tokens out?! Darien, King of Kjeldor
 paired with a Soul Warden
 or a Suture Priest
will obviously make your day and make it almost impossible to kill you. Conqueror's Pledge
will always net you Kor Soldiers, while Nomads' Assembly
might whiff second time around. Rhys the Redeemed
would be really cool, and you'd only need a few tokens to get started with. Parallel Evolution
is another Rhys effect, with flashback. Benalish Commander
 is your Crusader of Odric
on super-soldier steroids, and Knight-Captain of Eos
is a fog-hat full of tricks. Mobilization
, Martial Coup
 and Rise of the Hobgoblins
are all cool token generators too. Finally, some cool interactions. Pandemonium
 and Warstorm Surge
can and will blow your opponents out, giving your soldiers pseudo-haste and already attacking. Giving them more haste like with Fervor
, In the Web of War
, and Fires of Yavimaya
will make your opponents scramble for ways to kill you before you get to your combat phase. Goblin Bombardment
 and Vicious Shadows
turn your soldiers and sand warriors into walking bombs. Also notice that Hazezon Tamar
's ability says "At the beginning of your next upkeep..." This is a "delayed trigger", meaning if he enters the battlefield and dies before your next upkeep comes around, you get to keep your tokens forever since there weren't Sand Warriors to exile when he left the battlefield. This works the same way with Fiend Hunter
-ing a creature and then flickering it immediately, before the ETB effect resolves. I suggest adding sacrifice outlets so that you can kill Hazezon and profit Sand Warriors.

Here's my Hazezon Tamar decklist: Al-Qaeda if you might need ideas or suggestions, or would like to give them.

@nilheim: Wow, thanks a ton! haha. I'll go through this a lot more in-depth later. You definitely had a ton of great strategy suggestions.

a must have for this deck is something like Concerted Effort and/or Akroma's Memorial . Makes your copies and tokens so much more deadly. Another amazing card to have if you want to run Concerted Effort is Mother of Runes or anything that gives protection or anything like haste/flying/ect for that matter..

Concerted Effort +Akroma, Angel of Wrath and lots of creatures/tokens=OH SHIT!

I also forgot to mention Pristine Angel to go with Concerted Effort . What's this?!? All my tokens are pro all colors and fly? Sucks for you...

April 4, 2013 1:44 p.m.

Thawing Glaciers is an all around good card that helps deck thinning / mana ramp i would suggest you drop a land for it, Concerted Effort is a 4 drop that doesn't do anything by itself. Wrath of God or Day of Judgment would be far better in its place due to the fact that protection cant stop the board wipe effect of either card, and you have a heavy lack of removal. In the event of a loss of board presence you can always reset and try again. Also these cards work well with Avacyn, Angel of Hope and if your feeling adventurous you can always try Catastrophe as well. good win con with Avacyn, Angel of Hope .

Thanks for the comment AA, but doesn't a spell with an "all" effect get around "indestructable" things?

Also, I don't currently have plans to add Concerted Effort to the deck.

April 18, 2013 12:35 p.m.

Depends on the effect. If the effect says "Destroy" then indestructables are uneffected.

April 18, 2013 12:45 p.m.

Rules as follows is that, Creatures with protection from effects can be destroyed but cannot be targeted. Indestructible creatures can be targeted but cannot be destroyed. the only way to get around this is to give everything -1/-1 counters via cards like Black Sun's Zenith or shuffle them into thier owners deck via cards like Terminus , or exile them with cards like Merciless Eviction .

April 18, 2013 12:54 p.m.

Also cards like Evacuation work as well.
