This seems like it works pretty well. I would advise you drop the Delver of Secrets  Flip because it's a merfolk deck. I know how good he is, especially with 24 inst/sorc but really there are stronger options. To fit the control theme I would add Merrow Reejerey for some extra creature tapping. Also look into using spells like Daze , Ensnare and Foil for surprising your opponent. It may put you a turn behind for mana, but it'll be a helluva lot worse if you just countered their Door to Nothingness or other key deck element. Oh, and it's a good idea to have Master of the Pearl Trident split with Lord of Atlantis in case of specific card hate.

Good luck and +1 for a nice fish deck!

Oh, and perhaps Rootwater Thief could fit.

Hm... I really wanted to play with Delver of Secrets  Flip , as this is my first time rolling Blue... but I really like the idea of Rootwater Thief . That thing looks nasty.

I might remove all the delvers and add another spy and two of those thiefs.

Merrow Reejerey might still need some thinking on if I want to squeeze him in somewhere. I'd ideally like to keep this at or under 70, seeing as how I have a hard time doing so with all my other decks.

Thanks!

Oh, I didn't realize it was over xD

Do try and cut to 60, it helps a lot for consistency.

I have no clue how to cut this to 60

Also, I do have a bit of drawing mechanic in this, as well as a friend who plays a mill deck.

You don't need Merrow Commerce unless you're really aggressive, which this isn't. I'd drop those. Also, 4 High Tide is overkill. Maybe only 2. I'd drop Inaction Injunction too, cuz really it's only good for std. Then maybe drop 2x Counterspell and Vapor Snag respectively. And voila!

I'll agree with that, but not before giving you a very stern "BUT I DON'T WANNA".

Also, I already ordered a playset of the Commerces... so I'll keep my virtual vigilance in for now.

I like Inaction Injunction because it's virtually the same as returning it to their hand while giving me the ability to draw a card.

You may have a point about High Tide though... It was mainly in there for when this deck was more expensive in the rough draft. I may end up reducing it to about two.

The commerces would be better in your sideboard, really. If you're playing aggro and need the blockers, use it by all means.

Inaction injunction is good, but is it really good enough to make the cut? The deck could function without it. There's other drawpower to be had, and a smaller deck needs less.

Trimming down on the counters/bounce won't hurt too much with the general decksize down too, and it doesn't have to be 2 and 2; you could drop one altogether if you like the other more.

i know how to make the cut, get rid of Stormtide Leviathan because the reason why merfolk decks are good is theire speed, and at the 8th turn you should alredy have won the game

Well, with High Tide it can be played T5 or earlier, which would be the point when you either win or lose for the most part.

true but better he uses Coralhelm Commander then isnt it? with that much mana he can level up 4 of them to the max easily so you gain 4 extra flying lords

I was actually trying to avoid the commander because I'm not going full aggro and have all the 2-drop slots filled. I'd rather use the mana I'd use leveling it up for other things, like control. Having mana to spare through my opponent's turn is invaluable here.

The updates to this deck actually worked pretty damn well. I was able to pull out a Quicksilver Fountain relatively early and it really messed with my opponent. I lost in the end, but it held out way longer than I expected.

It's a fun card

I like this deck. Merfolk are awesome, and I like that this deck is different from a lot of other Merfolk decks I often see.

I would take out your Merrow Witsniper and Drowner Initiate and replace them with Cursecatcher . I don't think the small amount of milling is very helpful. If you cut a few cards, you could use AEther Vial , and add a few more Merrow Reejerey . They combo in pretty nifty way. :) Or possibly replace Temporal Mastery with Wanderwine Prophets - if you didn't have Temporal Mastery you wouldn't need Ponder as much, it would leave room for 2 AEther Vial and 2 Merrow Reejerey . But these are just thoughts and options. +1 for a neat Merfolk deck with your own creative spin :)

Sunblast Angel and Wake Thrasher both appear to be good additions, but the mana curve would slow things down a bit when I've found that speed is this deck's specialty.

Things aren't tapped down enough to warrant the angel (and believe me, the Frost Titan is wayyy better for the same amount of mana) and the Thrasher doesn't fit the human theme too much, weakening the Parish a tad.

Thanks for the suggestions though!

Looked into Sleep as well, but my opponents can't last the overrun I always have at the time of when I'd have the mana to cast Sleep. Like I said, speed. :)

carysh says... #22

... your commander is Tamiyo, the Moon Sage , dude. She costs 5 mana. I think Sleep would allow you to make an even more powerful 'overrun' on your opponents.

I built the deck around her and she's really only there as an insurance policy (a much, MUCH more utilitarian and longer-lasting) spell for only one more colorless than Sleep . My opponents rarely have an unmanageable amount of creatures to warrant Sleep anyway, especially when you consider just how much tapping ability I have paired with Vapor Snag .
