Maybeboard

Back when War of the Spark was new and Oathbreaker was getting big, Tamiyo, Collecter of Tales really caught my eye. I love Simic, and her passive looked fun defensively. I quickly realized, though, that she's a very interesting value engine- if you can get a chunk of your deck into the graveyard, you can use her for EXCELLENT card selection, and she of course helps you do just that!

Anyway I'm back in Magic now and Tamiyo caught my eye again. So I've been sharpening this deck for a few weeks (the Maybeboard is about 90% cards I've cut) and the result is a mean value engine that takes a few turns to get going but can absolutely Go Off if given the chance.

Self-mill with cards like Jadelight Ranger, Satyr Wayfinder, and Shigeki, Jukai Visionary, and of course Tamiyo, and pick out the ones you need with cards like Eternal Witness, Seeds of Renewal, and Shigeki, Jukai Visionary, and of course Tamiyo. There's a toolkit to deal with pretty much anything, with Pongify, Return to Nature, and Counterspell taking care of most issues. The general goal is to ramp/control into one of the big payoffs, like Koma, Cosmos Serpent and the terrifying Hullbreaker Horror. The Phasing of Zhalfir is a fun board wipe here, since you generally want to keep a board presence- upgrade your elves, and if you save one of the aforementioned game enders a bunch of 2/2s look a lot less scary. Disallow is there because it's a solid counterspell that can also, if needed, stop something like Bojuka Bog. Both choices are a bit meta dependent, tbh.
