Tana & Ravos

Hello all! Welcome to the latest version of my token deck commanded by Tana, the Bloodsower and Ravos, Soultender . This version revolves around creatures that create tokens when they enter the battlefield.

Token Doublers

Tokens are one of my favorite strategies, but I'm way too cheap to buy a Doubling Season , so I move to alternatives. Parallel Lives and Anointed Procession get the job done nicely. In this deck Panharmonicon and Flameshadow Conjuring function as token-doublers as well. The deal with Flameshadow Conjuring and Parallel Lives together along with an ETB token generator like Weaponcraft Enthusiast goes like this; you play the Enthusiast and pay an extra red for Flameshadow, parallel Lives makes two Enthusiast tokens, choose to put servos into play for all 3 Enthusiasts, that's 6 servos, but Parallel Lives kicks in again and you just got 12 servos and 3 Enthusiasts for 4 Mana! It's wonderful.

Token Generators

This deck was made possible by the Kaladesh block. Weaponcraft Enthusiast and Visionary Augmentor are three bodies for little Mana. Cultivator of Blades and Marionette Master are a bit more Mana, but have definite upside. Throw in the old stand-bys of Avenger of Zendikar , Siege-Gang Commander , and Pia and Kiran Nalaar and you've got some solid ETB effects.

Rampaging Baloths and Emeria Angel are here because of their interaction with Perilous Forays . Hanweir Garrison is here to meld with Hanweir Battlements , it's never happened, but a man can dream! Dune-Brood Nephilim is one of my favorite cards, and would probably be the commander of the deck if it were legendary.

Enters the Battlefield

If we're going to use ETB effects for tokens we might as well use them for other effects. Solemn Simulacrum , Farhaven Elf , and Sylvan Ranger are wonderful ramp/fixing on bodies. Reclamation Sage and Shriekmaw are nice removal on bodies as well, but neither compare to Aura Shards , which does interact with Panharmonicon ! Plus, running upwards of 30 creatures gives Ravos, Soultender a lot more value.

Anthems

The problem with making a bunch of 1/1 tokens is that they're only 1/1s! The best way to fix this is to pump them up! Plus, anthems make Tana, the Bloodsower make more tokens and those tokens are bigger. The anthems also make cards like Marionette Master and Cultivator of Blades way stronger. The poster-child for this is Angel of Invention , tokens and anthem.

Cathars' Crusade interacts with Panharmonicon very nicely. Two commanders makes it easier to turn on Thunderfoot Baloth . Other than that there's Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite , Collective Blessing , Beastmaster Ascension , and Eldrazi Monument . Even Mirari's Wake has an anthem attached to it!

Combat Control

The other, less frequent strategy is to control how blocking works. Brutal Hordechief let's you control it entirely, but nobody wants to block you when you have an Ankle Shanker ! Champion of Lambholt , Prowler's Helm , and Whispersilk Cloak also make your dudes unlockable (especially Tana). Also, don't underestimate the ability to Wrath at instant speed with Rout .

–----------------------------

A bit about my playgroup; no land destruction, no two-card combos. We keep it casual, so no need for a turn 4 win.

That being said, the deck can always use some improvement! I may be cheap, but I'm sure there are budget options that I'm not even thinking of. Please let me know what you think! And, if you like tokens and hate blue, give it a shot! Let's get tokening!
