I wanted to build a control deck that tapped or returned creatures until I got to my creatures.

Halimar Tidecaller plus Clutch of Currents plus Rush of Ice works really well. I play those sorceries early game and bring them back later with enough mana to pay Awaken costs to get some flying land creatures.

My other creatures are dragons, so Draconic Roar is an obvious choice. It gets rid of pesky early threats. Foul-Tongue Invocation also had to be in here, especially since this is a slower deck -- I need that crucial life gain.

Haven of the Spirit Dragon is such a cheap way to return a dragon to my hand.

Crippling Chill for some tapped control and drawing a card. Dragonlord's Prerogative but just as a one-of.

Skyline Cascade for some more tapped control. If it comes in my first hand, I just play it for the land base.

And finally some cliche counter spells: Silumgar's Scorn and Scatter to the Winds , although Scatter also has Awaken, so bonus.

That's pretty much it. Oh, and dragons.

Well, I sucked.

I only won my first round, but I lost the next two rounds quickly. I was mana-screwed.

But, I had added Sphinx of the Final Word and Crumble to Dust to the side deck, along with a complete play set of Ruinous Path, and I came home and made some changes to the deck.

I now will run fewer creatures, and I added Containment Membrane as a replacement for Singing Bell, but I did play a bell on a Kalitas and on a Jace when it was a legendary creature. The Kalitas still had his other abilities, but on the Jace, it was an excellent way to keep him under wraps.

Too any people are running planeswalkers and the Ruinous Paths came in handy. I also wanted to see if I could throw a wrench in games with Crumble to Dust, but I only ran two. Both ideas worked.

The Sphinx makes awaken cards easier to pull off because I can tap for everything knowing they can't be countered.

Now, I need to rework my side board again, and I may add another color (or run all five, hell).
