Hey Cameron, what's the purpose in having Season's Past in the deck? I understand that you can loop it with infinite mana in case of something like Cursed Totem, but to loop it you need a tutor. If you already have a tutor, why not just tutor up some removal for the totem? Or if someone's stolen Tasigur, you could just kill your own Tasigur and recast it from the command zone since you already have infinite mana.

I think it's for 2 reasons resoluteorb566. It can just be cast for value in a control mirror, and that's the card the deck was originally built around. I am not him so I can't say for sure though.

Hey Cameron, what would a build with bolas’s citadell look like? Was just wondering how you think it would work best. I understand it’s slow so ad nauseam wouldn’t be in there. But more of a less competitive but still semi cedh deck.

atlimar - taking out freed from the real make no sense when you are adding in incubation druid. i'm on the fence about baelful strix. I've been considering a flying blocker but I'm more inclined to just run Yahenni's Expertise as it takes care of any fliers that may come at me. In the same vein what is Damnation killing that Languish wouldn't? The big thing is that Tasigur stays around. Dropping Vampiric Tutor is a pretty bad call. It is one of the stronger tutors out there. Narset's Reversal is swapping out for Stubborn Denial for me, Narset is most likely swapping out for Chains. If you are also on EEvolve, there is almost no reason to not have the Razaketh package in there with Isochron scepter. You are splitting packages in half and not getting the best part of either. I'd reconsider those changes.

shredz - its not good. Flash + hulk should win you the game with no other cards in your hand.

Dango - thanks for pointing people to the discord. I do it regularly enough and I appreciate the assistance.

Jt5525e10 - It isn't good enough. Gilded Drake is just better. The fact that you have to wait multiple turns makes it not worth while.

resoluteorb566 - Seasons past is used to loop if Tasigur is not available. Additionally it is essentially draw the 4-6 strongest cards that you have cast this game. It is a mid to late game finisher.

Papaglock21 - Bolas's Citadell is more like a Future Sight than an Ad Nauseam. For the control game, we would be using it for the mana advantage that it provides.

zacksmith1224 - Yes.

So do you think that bolas’s citadell is okay to include? Would there be any real changes if it was included that you would want to see? I was just thinking of opting out of the adnas for the life total consideration.

Papaglock21 - yeah that is what I am testing now.

I see that you are looking to slot in Narset. What are your thoughts on replacing Search for Azcanta for her? Or depending on whether on not the meta is wheel heavy, we can just replace Notion Thief since Narset has a great minus ability.

Bolas’s citadel is awesome, the problem is a)the three black cost b)top deck counter spell/series of lands. But if your top deck is a counter spell you also gain some value of protection, as well as most of the time you can manipulate the top with fetch/ brainstorm / tasigur/ divining top.The cost is high at 6, but cheating all top card for free is so big advantage. It's hard to imagine with citadel on board for 2 turns and you dont win the game, some times you got it on that turn you cast it. The top/atherreflex/citadel combo is the least thing it does. I will definitly run it, the deck change for it may be 1)mass the amount of fetch lands, 2) add dark petetion for a tutor with 3 black that can tutor it and cast it the same turn. and even I am testing a dark ritual for the 3 black give you the chance to cast bolas's citadel the first 2 turns.

Aladdin I got my changes posted. Search is just better on our gameplan than Chains was. Chains is amazing, but it also massively warps the meta and a few decks can get around it just as well, if not better than us, Gitrog being one of them. Narset just stops them in their tracks.

This is always my favorite deck to see in action on the show, although Jeskai Ascendancy combo is a close second, Keep up the good work!

Wow 5 changes from one set, WAR is really something. I mean is there anyway new Karn can't be played? Anyway the update looks great. I was wondering how useful Citadel is outside of comboing off? Seems like it could be a dead card often, but obviously has huge potential.

just curious what is the point of seasons past when you can just activate tasigur and get w.e card you want back once you have infinite mana?

May 21, 2019 3:56 p.m.

Ali3nVpr - If Tasigur is stolen or cannot activate his ability due to something like Cursed Totem , then Seasons Past can fill that same role.

question, why not twincast over narset reversal? narset makes sense to me if youre trying to slap it on isochron and have an extra turn spell and go infanate turns but, otherwise i cant see why twincast wouldn't be better.

May 21, 2019 7:31 p.m.

WisdomComes says... #16

[Doveyy] Why would letting them get the effect of the spell be better at all? Narset's reversal "counters" the spell by returning it to hand, twincast they get the effect right away. Narsets reversal an ad naus you may as well have just won, they waste 5 mana and you get an ad naus for UU.

May 24, 2019 1:05 a.m.

Doveyy - WisdomComes really did answer the question. Narsets reversal not only is a tempo, play it can also get around uncounterable things like Abrupt Decay. Stop their Abrupt Decay on your permanent, hit someone else's.

Hey Cameron just gotta say thanks for the deck it's still my all time favorite go to for cedh. New changes seem really good and more smooth. I run a couple different cards like incubation druid for more redundancy, nezahal, neoform (great for getting free druid with counters or nezahal) and training grounds. Just wondering with all the modern horizon spoilers do you think you'll out both talismans in? Oh also I cut sunken ruins for morphic pool since the filter lands are kind of hard to always have the right mana for.

I've watched your YouTube videos, read this primer from start to end, caught up on the updates and I just want to give a big thanks for your dedication to this deck. I've finally finished building it and going to give it her first run this weekend. Keep up the amazing work all around in everything you do

Questions with regards to Modern Horizons, what's your opinion on the following cards for Spastigur:

Nurturing Peatland Waterlogged Grove Talismans Archmage's Charm Prismatic Vista

  • Nurturing Peatland
  • Waterlogged Grove
  • Talismans
  • Archmage's Charm
  • Prismatic Vista
June 1, 2019 2:08 p.m.

atlimar - Prismatic Vista isn't worth it w/o more than 6 basics. UG talisman will be replacing Thought Vessel (most likely). Archmage's Charm is cute but way too blue intensive. Nurturing Peatland not worth it, Waterlogged Grove will be going in, not sure on the land to remove yet possibly trainquil grove, possibly something else. Force of negation may be going in, not sure yet either.

LabManiac_Cameron What's the point of Seasons Past if you still only have one To-Hand tutor in Demonic Tutor ? Wasn't the point that you could return Both Tutors to your hand, then use one to Tutor for Season's Past and the other to Tutor for any card in your deck to draw your deck when Tasigur is locked/stolen? How do you use Season's Past in that situation now without the second tutor?

Dango says... #25

Wildcard604 Seasons Past offers such good value on its own, and technically the loop can still be completed by using Demonic Tutor + Vampiric Tutor + a cycle land.
