JohnnyCRO - If you are wanting to keep that higher of a land count then Exploration and Burgeoning should be included for sure. Other mana rocks to consider would be Mind Stone, Coldsteel Heart, and Thought Vessel.

So Exploration and/or Burgeoning instead or alongside Oracle of Mul Daya? I'll add them to the maybeboard.

I am aware of those. I tried to avoid ETB tapped rocks and colorless rocks, my numbers are kinda stretched as it is. Coldsteel Heart may be worth the space. But IMHO the deck is too color-hungry early to justify too many colorless rocks. If any I'd add Thought Vessel.

Save for the ramp and the manabase, do you have any other tips/remarks/comments? Manabase and ramp package will change over time as I playtest the deck and I'll take into account your suggestions made so far.

How is Brainstorm working out for you; is the upside so great that you don't feel bad if a Tasigur activation gets it back for you?

April 8, 2018 3:57 p.m.

ariston - Brainstorm's upside is huge to the point that it is very rarely given back. Pairing it with Life from the Loam can make the upside on it draw 3, not draw 1. I personally haven't had it given back to me yet.

I am trying to understand why Manifold insights is a better choice than Fact or Fiction. Is 2U vs 3U basically what it boils down to? I would think that FoF's discard to graveyard effect + being instant speed would give it the edge.

Also, since you aren't running Palichron, then wouldn't Phyrexian Metamorph offer even more utility than Phantasmal Image? Can operate as a second Copy Artifact and enable Dramatic Scepter that much easier.

Any cards from Dominaria that have caught your eye?

April 17, 2018 11:39 a.m.

Syncharmony - Manifold Insights vs Fact or Fiction has a few big differences. You won't get land, unless you are SUPER unlucky and flip 10 lands. odds of that in a 30-32 land deck are astronomical. Second you get competing priorities for your opponents that lead to a mixed bag of options. Rather than a single one choice to create two piles, each opponent is given a single choice between multiple options. This allows for competing priorities to give you better options. Last is mana cost, that one extra cmc is huge.

Phantasmal Image is a meta choice for a flex slot. Phyrexian Metamorph again is 1 cmc + 2 life more and gets hit my more options for removal as it is an artifact.

Does Muldrotha hold any value as a possible new target for Eldritch Evolution?

Any cards from dominaria have potential in this list?

Aren't people always giving you back Life from the Loam with Tasigur?

April 21, 2018 2:35 p.m.

Syncharmony & Mulloajr1 - From Dominaria, Muldrotha looks really solid as an Evolution/Reanimation target. Other cards I'm looking at for testing are... Damping Sphere, Final Parting, Rona disciple of Gix, and Unwind.

Peej - If you have left LftL in your bin, then yes. You will want to either cycle a land to dredge or stagger your LftL casts. If you do not yet have cycling lands available to you, you alternate returning three lands to your hand during a turn and they dredging LftL and keeping in your hand until you need more land drops to make it so they don't just give you LftL.

What changes might be made if I wanted to bring this deck to non competitive EDH environment, because my play group is fine with nukes and all that but as you might now the meta is way different with more things probably turning sideways more then in competitive.

MordMetal I play a version of this deck in a 75%ish kind of playgroup. Meta examples are Kaalia, Scion, Gishath, Xenagos, Krenko, Meren, etc.

When tuning the deck to my meta I found it very helpful to include cards that discourage my opponents from attacking me. Maze of Ith, No Mercy, Propaganda, Glacial Chasm are all cards that do a lot of work on that end for me without diluting the control element of the deck significantly.

Since it's a slower meta than cEDH, I also found that removal like Song of the Dryads to be invaluable to shut down a particularly pesky commander (or any permanent giving you trouble).

If your meta is especially creature heavy like mine than running more board wipes can be a good thing. Even though it's CMC is high, I have won many games with a well timed Decree of Pain that drew me into my win conditions.

As far as recommended removals from Cameron's list, a lot of it is going to be meta dependent of course. However some cards like Counterbalance are more valuable in a cEDH meta where the emphasis is on low CMC cards and thus it will be effective very often. Since I don't have to answer win threatening combos early in the game, I run a few less counters and a few more answers for late game threats.

Hope that helps. If you check his primer under Meta Based Inclusions, you will get more ideas as well.

How well does this deck do without timetwister and chains of Mephistopheles?

May 15, 2018 2:16 a.m.

Sterling0528 says... #15

And also, what would you use to replace those?

May 15, 2018 2:21 a.m.

JimmytheRoach says... #16

Sterling0528 - Chains -> Notion Thief. Timetwister -> Memory's Journey/Windfall depending on if you need recursion or card draw more.

His answer to what he would replace them with from earlier in the post. Not sure if its the same now, but a good start.

I just logged in to upvote and say that I really like what you put together - your breakdown of "packages", interactions and everything else. What a great guide for an awesome deck! I put together something similar, with your guidelines, it's a bit more on the budget side, but the major pieces are there. Nezahal, Primal Tide has been doing so much work :)

Hi Cameron! I've been running this deck and I've having problems with Isochron Scepter getting exiled. I'm finding it difficult to reach a win-condition without it. Do you have any advice? What's your back-up plan?

May 25, 2018 4:32 a.m.

BolasFucks says... #19

Ifeno I actually asked the same question a while back and the answer is basically either Riftsweeper to get Scepter back or Tidespout Tyrant as a backup engine to go infinite with your rocks. Tyrant however is clunkier than Dramatic Scepter and unfortunately can't be hit by an Eldritch Evolution off Tas.

How did I manage to forget about Riftsweeper, I feel like such a goon now. Thanks!

May 25, 2018 1:41 p.m.

BolasFucks Thanks for helping.

Ifeno In the list above, Phantasmal Image is a flex slot. Riftsweeper fits right in there. :)

Thanks for the great primer. Excuse me, if the question was asked before but I didn‘t see it, browsing quick over the comments: Baral and Baby Jace do seem like a good addition synergy-wise or am I wrong?

May 29, 2018 4:58 p.m.

Ahzrabus - Baral's cost reduction is not very applicable. It is mostly the looting that would help. However we don't aim at hard countering, instead we are using removal or alternatives to counters. Baby Jace's primary usage would be either filter or Flashback on the Walker. Search for Azcanta gets us scry's which then turns into card draw and we'd rather keep the cards around and use other recursion options than to flash them back. Both cards have good value, but its just not what the deck is aiming for.

Do you think that Psychic Surgery could find it's way into a list like this? It let's you manipulate opponents after fetching, and it can interfere with topdeck tutors (unless they have a way to respond to the trigger).

Props for this list and primer, i've been enjoying Tasigur a lot more after switching from playing it in a 1v1 duel commander format to this multiplayer focused list. AND the primer is extremely well done, so again massive props.

I've been testing Muldrotha, Necromancy and Lion's Eye Diamond after seeing how it worked extremely well to make infinite mana in Flash Hulk.

Muldrotha is a decent standalone card and target from e.evolution off Tas, Necromancy is decent as a reanimation card and Phantasmal Image was already decent as a flex card in the deck to begin with. Seems really solid, but the issue is that it the mana engine takes up 4 slots, not counting the slot for Evolution, and is weak to grave hate.
