Yeah that works.

I'll sub it for Akroma's Memorial.

Thanks!

While she isn't an Ally, Alesha, Who Smiles at Death she should work with most of your allies.

I feel like cards like Gravepurge and Footbottom Feast are too slow but I understand wanting to consistently have creatures to cast.

Though again not Allies I think these type of cards are better for recursion.

Karmic Guide

Sun Titan

Reveillark

Especially when combo'd with some of the blink cards you have Deadeye Navigator, Cloudshift, Venser, the Sojourner

This is excellent card draw as well.

masterosok those are great ideas but there are two problems:

  1. As you rightly said, they move the deck away fron an Ally theme into a recursion theme.

  2. The more diluted my pool of Allies becomes the less chances I have to trigger Rally.

The recursion at the moment is used to trigger Rally on ETB effects, not as a means to its own ends.

The most obvious cuts IMO:

  • Levitation, Primal Rage: You have allies that give you the same effect, plus a commander that can tutor them, plus a bunch of back tutors, plus graveyard recursion to get them back.
  • Legacy Weapon: Cute, but has zero synergy with the deck.
  • Reconnaissance: Not sure what you need this for.
  • Citanul Flute: Too mana-intensive, IMO. I'd rather add more flickering effects, as they are BOTH tutors (thanks to Tazri) and rally enablers.

Badaro I think I've finally understood something.

I'm supposed to keep return General Tazri to the field so she can keep fetching Allies?

The lingo and concepts are new to me, so I don't always understand.

Argy says... #6

I believe Reconnaissance was suggested to save an attacking Creature from death.

At the moment Legacy Weapon is my ONLY removal. If I substitute some removal for the cards you suggested I remove, then that won't be a problem, I guess.

Oh and I need Levitation because most of the time I can't Rally on each Opponent's turn.

Why Conjurer's Closet isn't in here is beyond me. Free flicker effects are appreciated at all times when it comes to edh, especially allies.

It's probably not in the deck because no one has suggested it yet.

Do you think it's expensive at 5 CMC? What would you sub it for?

Flicker for Allies is actually best in the first Main Phase, so they can Rally each other.

Argeaux

I understand your concerns but the cards I suggested removing do not trigger Rally themselves. Gravepurge and Footbottom Feast. A lot of the times when I have used these cards in the past (in a Goblin Tiny Leaders deck) I found that I ended up needing to crack a fetch or something before I drew more than one or two creatures I put back in the library and while it nice to have then back in the library if you have to shuffle it you are kinda back where you started. To me these are really only good in response to someone exiling your yard and of course to draw a card. Having one in there is not a bad move but two seems a little much vs. having something like Reveillark available. Plus with any one of those combo'd with the Deadeye Navigator or Cloudshift gives you another way to trigger Rally on your opponents turns while getting an Ally back in the process.

I wouldn't remove any allies for them.

Correct, every time you General Tazri enters the battlefield you find another ally to put in hand. It doesn't matter you paid it's mana cost to call her from the commander zone or used something like Cloudshift or Conjurer's Closet that forces her to leave then come back.

This deck is not working at the moment, I have to say.

I lose a lot of life while waiting for Creatures to come out, and by the time they hit the field they are so weak compared with the Opponents'.

I have hardly any removal for problematic Creatures. I have seen decks similar to this one that have little to no removal, so I must be missing something.

I'll try the Sun Titan.

Maybe this deck is starting to turn into a case of "too many cooks spoil the broth"?

When I look at this deck, it looks too cute. You're an Ally tribal deck, with 29 total Allies between the deck and your commander? That doesn't scream to me "Tribal!". I'll share my Tazri list for what's probably the other side of the Tribal EDH spectrum.

I've got 49 Allies in the deck, not counting General Tazri. That way I always have the allies I want. Plus I'm running Retreat to Emeria (which you are as well) so all my lands can make Allies. My list needs some tuning, but for the most part this is how I build/envision tribal decks.

I actually started off with 42 Allies, JWiley129,but along the way people have kept suggesting a lot of changes that weren't Allies.

It's a bit of a mess right now, TBH.

Well, you'll figure it out. It's your deck and you'll find the answers :)

Tell you what, if you want this deck to be more competitive you should ask TheDevicer. He helped me with my Oloro, he may help you with yours. First, I would update your description to say Exactly what you want the deck to do. Then, head over to his profile and ask for assistance. It may help you focus the deck a little bit more.

Turntimber Ranger goes infinite with Xenograft and/or Conspiracy. Those cards also turn all of your non-Ally creatures into allies themselves, allowing you maximum value from your Rally triggers. :)

Looks great so far though! Can't wait to get a Tazri to build one myself. Been waiting for a true 5-color Ally general.

I added more Allies and trimmed the fat off this deck and it's playing well again.

The focus is now a lot more on getting Allies out on to the field to buff each other.

I forgot to mention that I have an ally deck of my own. Still not very optimized, but might be worth taking a look for some ideas.

Switch ordering to "Custom Categories" if you want to see the role each card has in the deck.

There's always Descendants' Path if you're looking to put more allies on the field

March from the Tomb is something to consider. Extra recursion, triggers, and a lot of good allies are low drops.

Argy says... #23

I'm done with making changes to this deck for now. It was difficult enough getting it to where it is.

I believe March from the Tomb is in the Maybeboard, which means I have already tried it and found other cards which were better.

No more changes until after I've run it a few times IRL.

Badaro says... #24

Immortal Servitude is better than March from the Tomb.

But I think I'd rather run Living Death if I wanted a mass reanimation card. The crazy number of ETBs you'll get should be enough to break the symmetry of the card.
