I have been goofing around with Tazri since she was spoiled. I won't bother you with a long drawn out explanation of how my deck functions differently than yours just wanted to point out that through my testing I went back and forth on a lot of different allies and the one thing I noticed is running as many multicolored allies as possible (Mina and Denn, Wildborn, Drana's Emissary etc.) makes activating Tazri's pump ability so much more effective and meaningful.

When they weren't in the deck, rarely could I activate it for more than 2. Her second ability isn't essential to winning but it definitely makes an impact when its activated for 5 more than once on a turn.

You might want to try making room for boardwipes like Wrath of God. In EDH, inevitably, the board state becomes so dangerous that if you don't board wipe, you could be in serious trouble. The best boardwipes I know of are Wrath, Day of Judgment, Terminus, Jokulhaups, Damnation, Merciless Eviction, Austere Command, and Supreme Verdict just to name a few

If it wasn't suggested before, perhaps Genesis Wave?

Good advice, LittleBlueHero.

I also have a spare Day of Judgment hanging around.

I must say, though, I did a board wipe tonight and it was NOT appreciated.

Sometimes it's good to be selfish and boardwipe. Let me tell you, when your opponent casts Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Archetype of Endurance, Blazing Archon, and Sigarda, Host of Herons, you'll wish you had a Final Judgment

What if one person is dominating the game and everyone else is losing? If you boardwipe, it'll make YOU the hero for saving everyone

If you're having problems with removal, Cloud Cover is a good one to get your rally triggers again. Other than that Asceticism is a great one to protect your creatures, and can be played politically, as you can regenerate anyone's creature (i.e. make a deal with them to boardwipe and you'll regen their creature :P). Also, I'm curious, how well does the Angelic Captain work in this deck?

January 20, 2016 7:10 p.m.

Argy says... #9

Angelic Captain is very situational.

If I don't care about losing some of my other Allies it is great.

It's good if I have a recursion spell in hand.

It's also useful to chump block fliers.

It also gives me extra colours to assist General Tazri's activated ability.

Argeaux,
Following up on your recent thread ...

If I needed to free up two slots, I'd start with a very hard look at the 5-drops (because your mana curve has a bit of a bump there ... especially considering you have a 5-drop commander).

There, the Dark Petition looks least useful to me. And even though Turntimber Ranger + Xenograft would be awesome, the Xenograft would probably be my #2 pull.

That said though, I would not personally use either of those slots for a boardwipe. I'm usually a boardwipe target and only very rarely wish I could add more to a game. I totally get why folks like them, it's just that I'd rather spend my card slots on stuff that will help me recover faster from other people's boardwipes.

That was very helpful, clayperce.

Dark Petition is a good suggestion.

Everyone is saying to take out Xenograft.

It does help me to stop the nil effect of playing a non-Ally Creature and missing out on Rally.

It's also a bit sexy to me because I've never had the potential for an infinite combo in any of my decks.

It's also an alternate Win Con. Without it I've basically only got Creature damage and abusing Kalastria Healer and Zulaport Cutthroat.

I will give that a bit more thought. Thanks for the tips.

Argeaux,
The way you write about it just there, I think you should totally keep the Xenograft!

Which reminds me of another way to think about cuts: I like asking myself what my Commander would prefer if he or she was real. Tazri wants to ETB and she want more Allies, so no way would she let you pull the Xenograft!

January 22, 2016 2:29 p.m.

NinjaFist says... #13

To be fair, if you wanted the Xenograft for the infinite combo (the rally triggers are nice as well), I would suggest swapping it out for Conspiracy since it changes all of the creatures in your deck as well so you can grab the Deadeye Navigator with Tazri.

Also, infinite combos hide in places where you would least expect them, such as you already had one with Deadeye Navigator, Chasm Guide, Harabaz Druid, and the Kalastria Healer. Bond the navigator with the druid, tap the druid for blue mana, flicker her, get rally from the healer and the guide, draining everyone for 1 and giving the druid haste, tap the druid for blue and repeat until everyone's dead :P.

I have decided that General Tazri would not be happy with Diabolic Intent for two reasons:

  1. It would kill one of her Allies.

  2. She'd be all like, "Why the hell d'you need that card when I can git Allies mah own damn self!"

RIP Diabolic Intent.

Very nice! Im in the midst of making a Tazri EDH deck myself, I feel like yours might inspire me to make a few changes. Maybe you could check mine out and we can build off each other's ideas haha. I'd link my deck but Im on mobile and a noob to the site but nonetheless solid deck.

Cards you might look at are Captain's Claws for token pumping each turn and Masterwork Stoneforge to double up on effects like coat of arms, door of destinies, etc. Maybe a Conjurer's Closet to flicker Tazri or other allies and trigger rally.

Neat deck tho man, +1 for sure B)

bustinchops I'm actually happy with the build as it is at the moment so I'm not looking to make many more changes.

I was considering Conjurer's Closet, but I prefer other blink cards which have additional effects like Venser, the Sojourner or can let me blink prior to combat like Nephalia Smuggler. Conjurer's Closet can't activate Rally'from what I can see.

I will take a look at your deck but I won't be much help as this is my first EDH deck.

Thanks for the nice feedback.

BTW I may not be a man. I have heard tell that women also play this game.

Sorry Argeux,I meant no offense. I'm from northern california and have a tendency to call everybody (mom and girlfriend included) man, dude, bro, etc. Sorry if it came off assuming, I was merely using my familiar vernacular. I'll make sure to address you with the proper pronoun if thats what you wish!As for conjurer's closet, its a neat little last second way to trigger lots of other Rally effects that don't necessarily pertain to combat (i.e. adding counters, discarding opponents cards, drawing more cards, etc) and its free after its initial cost. Definitely not mandatory but still a neat interaction. But really, its a lovely deck you have here A+ B)

bustinchops no offence taken and absolutely NO need to apologise.

I just strive to make this world more inclusive. Female, male, gay, straight, etc.

You're a nice person. I've had a lot of other people tell me to get fucked. lol

Thank you, I would rather somebody call me out and get to know me before they make brash judgements based off assumption. Sometimes people aren't secure enough to speak out if they feel I'm misgendering them in some way (which is never the case!) and they keep that resentment held in and I don't want anybody to have to feel like that. Thanks for not going full zealot SJW and telling me to keep my cis-het oppressive pronouns to myself, check my privelage, etc. Having a clear understanding and rational discussion is my preffered method anyhow B)

I'm still somewhat new to magic myself but, I'm not convinced about Exclusion Ritual I feel like you could accomplish much the same effect with an Oblivion Ring It's cheaper and can also be blinked for silly multi exiles.

I suppose Exclusion can be flickered across multiple turns, but I don't think that's worth the 3 mana that could let you flicker O-ring more than once on the same turn.

January 24, 2016 11:26 p.m.

NinjaFist says... #21

@Fijifriend0 That was one of the ones that I thought about suggesting to cut, then I realized, that unlike o-ring, the card exiled by it doesn't come back, and is even more hilarious when used on someone's commander because it has a Nevermore stapled onto it as well, as they can't cast their commander until they get rid of it. Nevermind, just looked it up and it won't imprint commanders... so instead of O-ring, I would suggest running a Council's Judgment as it can hit multiple targets if you're lucky and doesn't ensure they'll return like with the O-ring.

January 25, 2016 1:36 a.m.

Argy says... #22

I considered both of those cards but like Exclusion Ritual much better as I can permanently remove a card that is proving troublesome for me.

You are dead right in noting that it doesn't come back.

Council's Judgment can backfire if there is a card that is only keeping me at bay. In that case no one else will vote for it.

The thing about O-ring though is that because of the wording as 2 effects you actually can use it to perma exile things. The first ruling on O-ring is a bit confusing but using the stack you can cast O-ring target someone else's then flicker O-ring before the exile trigger resolves. That puts the return trigger on the stack but there isn't anything to return because the exile hasn't happened yet. Then O-ring returns and you can target a new thing and put that exile trigger on the stack. Then you can repeat. It's part of why cards that have similar effects like, Banishing Light have 1 block of text because it prevents that loophole. That said I realize now you don't really have the support for that.

I sat down to really figure out the stack when someone I was playing with combo'd Whip of Erebos with Obzedat to make one hell of a cockroach.

But looking over you're deck again there's less room for it. A similar combo that could produce similar results though is Fiend Hunter and your Deadeye Navigator or Nephalia Smuggler but it would only work on creatures

Thanks for the explanation.

I've had a hell of a time pruning this thing down to 100 cards.

At the moment I'm physically building it and am going to wait until I play it before making any new tweaks.
