Tazri, Beacon of Unity (Party, High Budget)

Commander / EDH

Dacenguy

This is a higher budget version of Tazri focused on the Party mechanic. It uses changelings to round out tough-to-fill Party slots and uses pretty much every Party payoff card (aside from the Baldur's Gate ones) to reward you for having a full party. Coveted Prize is an insane card. I usually use it to grab Squad Commander or Linvala, but I've often cast it with those cards in hand to get another useful silver bullet for later. Being able to cheat a 4 mana spell onto the stack for B while performing a Demonic Tutor is insane. The deck as of yet contains no combos per se but does contain high-value cards. I stumbled upon one card, Flamekin Herald, completely by accident while I was scouring Cardhoarder for cards compatible with Tazri, and I feel like it's a match made in Heaven. Herald is a 3-drop, and Tazri's mana value is 5 but his cost is reduced by the number of creatures in your party. If you have a full party, he costs only 1 mana but his mana value for Cascade is still 5! This means Tazri will cascade into any spell that costs 4 mana or less, including our heavy hitters like Linvala, Shield of Sea Gate and Squad Commander. The deck is fairly resilient, with access to anti-board sweeper cards like Linvala, Selfless Spirit, and Teferi's Protection. Very often, Concerted Defense is a blowout when your opponent is up to some non-creature shenanigans like Ugin, Cyclonic Rift, and most wraths. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of Tazri, Beacon of Unity.
