I was watching but couldn't hear a thing. I'm starting to see how irrelevant punish the enemy is in triple dgm; too many creatures that it can't take care of on its own.

I'll try to help out next time. I just didn't have time to set that up today.

Well I wouldn't say irrelevant, but not as relevant against that strategy. They simply drafted all the best cards they could, then drafted all the guildgates they could. 5 color goodstuffs in this format doesn't look too bad.

The one thing I could have done game 3 is not blocked with skylasher near the end, and played ruric earlier. That way I would have had 10 open power on the board, he miht not have swung with the wolf rider, then when I swing with ruric I could have bloodrushed the maaka - it would have turned the game around. Unfortunately, I hadn't drawn the maaka when I blocked so I didn't want to go down to 6 and then play ruric. In reality the best play would have been play ruric and pass, as even if he attacked I could trade ruric with the skylasher backup.

Yea Goody, I was having the same problem trying to log in as Keila and couldn't chat you... Ugh.

However, I don't think it mattered When you cast away after we finally drew a mountain I thought you were going to cast Ruric for sure. Punish the enemy was a dead card bc we HAD to deal w/ the wolf rider and the only way to do that was w/ Ruric blocking. I think we try to trade Ruric (blocking w/ ruric and skylasher or torturer) for Wolf Rider and we have a chance (although a small one) to pull it out. But he had Warped Physique in hand and would have used it (taking 6 damage) on Ruric to save his Wolf Rider. And we lose Ruric and have no answer after that. He also had Far/Away... just a ton of good cards that would seal the game no matter what.

There were a few things that I could have done near the end to change the outcome. I should not have chumped with skylasher, as it was protected from far and warped physique, I should have chumped with hired torturer. I should have also played Ruric during that turn, threaten a joint block with lasher and ruric, he wouldn't have attacked, and then I draw into maaka, swing with ruric, bloodrush trick to get rid of the rider. If I had known I was going to draw into maaka and if I had known he had warped physique those are the clear decisions I would have made.

Also, I don't think he had enough cards in hand to kill ruric with physique, he had like 4 so he would have just made ruric bigger, so they'd trade.

Yeah, not playing Ruric was a mistake. I was kind of on edge at that point and didn't think of threatening the joint block. The time of that misplay is at around the 46th minute mark on my video.

Anyways, my next match is against Darkness, it'll take place at Sunday 10 PM EST, or 7 PM Pacific. Be there and try to sign in to help me out! I'll have sound this time.

How do you guys feel about sideboarding in Phytobursts? I think I could have used them against leafs suck, as his deck was slower, and even against darkness as he had no removal and few creatures.

What would you take out?

The problem with our deck is that it's well built, but it's a little too fine tuned. I would probably replace a combination of Deadbridge Chant , and cluestones for some amount of bursts.
