I will lobby hard for a minimum 17 lands. with this many 6 drops -- and the aetherling, which is really a 7 -- I would even be comfortable with 18 lands / 22 spells.

I love the Cyclops, but to full use him to the best of his abilities we need a large amount of spells to make it worthwile, whereas the sphinx is an Anthem effect on a stick with good evasion and high enough toughness to not be killed in one hit realistically. This being limited creatures hold a strong base in it and this is one such card. An Anthem at uncommon is amazing, it's better still since it isn't normally on a creature in general. +1 Jelenn Sphinx

looks like it's the sphinx. building this pile into a deck is going to be fun.

this pack is amazing. Far // away is maybe the best removal card in the set. Having another Deputy would be gravy, but he wheeled last time and very well might again. punish the enemy is another premier removal spell, and rubblebelt maaka is a strong creature with low color requirements. For that matter, seeing the torturer, cluestone, or phantasm wheel would be fine with me, too.
I think we have to take removal here. We don't have much, and these are both great spells. Far // Away is sometimes a complete blowout, and either side on its own would be playable in our deck.
+1 far // away

I agree. This pack is money for us. At worst, the Izzet Cluestone should cycle. But that wouldn't be too bad, because at that point we'd need to look to start mana fixing anyway. Far//Away is pretty awesome. It let's us choose what gets sacrificed to an extent (or more importantly, what can't get sacrificed because we don't have an issue with it coming back). But as far as removal goes, it has to be second best in the set, behind Putrefy. But, no green, so that's irrelevant.
+1 Far//Away
(PS: Nivix Cyclops loves fuse cards. Next time we see him, we should probably grab him.)

the last comment confuses me a little -- I am all for picking up a cyclops but he only triggers once if you fuse the two sides.

As has been mentioned, Removal is good, and Far / Away is one of the best. This may be a four color monstrosity, but dammit if we won't make it a SCARY four color monstrosity.
+1 Far//Away

The community DDD deck was 4 color and did ok, and that was an extremely large and divided group. We seem to agree much more on the course of our draft, so I think we'll be fine doing 4 colors.
oh, and +1 Far//away
July 8, 2013 4:22 p.m.
Yeah, we would have to cut a lot to go 3 color now.
We'll probably be able to grab a decent card when this comes back around as well. If I had to guess, the rare, profit, wolf rider, deputy, gate, punish, and then maybe maaka will be gone, leaving us a few decent options.
I wonder what colors the people passing to us took. Maybe a foil and some bomb uncommon, like scab clan giant or putrefy. They could have taken a regular common, but I can't think of one in particular. Note that we passed scab clan to the guys passing this to us, as well as some decent white.
I'm not even going to bother saying what my vote is. Which probably took more effort than actually saying it.

holy crap. I just realized that DGM has no one drop creatures. the only one drop permanent is sinister possession. Makes me feel a little less bad about our avg CMC.

This pack is really strong for us, too. Fluxcharger, azorius guildgate, deputy of acquittals, hired torturer, izzet cluestone, punish the enemy, and rubblebelt maaka are all cards we'd be happy to run, I think.
I'm mostly torn between fluxcharger and punish the enemy. on the one hand, fluxcharger is more 'us,' on the other hand, punish is a strong removal spell, and if no one else is in izzet, it's not completely insane to hope the fluxcharger wheels -- whereas we know punish the enemy won't wheel. also, we need instants to turn on the fluxcharger we already have.
On the third hand, Rubblebelt Maaka is sort of like a removal spell that is also sometimes a solid body.
I don't have a vote yet. What do y'all think?

the maaka will have been passed twice in the same direction if we don't take it. If somebody wants consistency in red they'll take em. I like the maaka because of its dual purpose. we are lacking in early drop creatures, and it can be a combat trick(a strong one at that), if need be. Fluxcharger is awesome, and Punish is really cool too. I'm not sure either.
July 9, 2013 12:10 p.m.
+1 Punish the Enemy
I agree that fluxcharger has some chance to wheel to us if no one else is in izzet. Punish the enemy is great removal and maaka is a nice trick / 4 drop. I think we have to go to basics and with no bombs pick the removal. It even fills in our curve a bit.
July 9, 2013 12:34 p.m.
As of now, we really only have 2 playable instants or sorceries that work well with charger. Since we will probably need to pick up fixing soon enough, we might not have the time to draft enough spells. Punish is decent removal, and a spell for the one we already have.
I would be quite happy if we could just take this pack.Really, it has almost everything we want.

This pack is pretty awesome. Again, something good should wheel, so let's pick what we think will not come back around. And I don't know, I would be fine with any of these picks. I don't wanna make a case for any since they all do something different.
July 9, 2013 3:41 p.m.
+1 for Punish the enemy.
Good removal in this format. Also, it progresses the damage game for us.
The Maaka is so good as a combat giant growth. I really like him. He's my second choice.
July 9, 2013 4:14 p.m.
Note we're also looking very good for running Grixis at this point. We only have deputy and render silent in white aside from mana fixing. If we can continue to pick these colours we'll have a much more consistent deck.

don't forget the sphinx. our black white count is still close @ 3W 4B. wait, shouldn't we have a sphinx?

Oh right, teach me to pay attention. Ignore that then, 4 colours or bust!

Also, in this pack and the last, there was another deputy of acquittals. So we wanna stay open for them, since we grabbed the first one after it wheeled

We're going to be mana hungry 17 lands and 3 cluestones is ideal I think.
The Nivix Cyclops is great, but it needs spells to be a real beast. And I don't feel like the required mixure of creatures is a good environment to make that card shine.
Even though, I hope it wheels. That would be a great card to have on hand.
