Awesome! Thanks. Our mana curve doesn't look so bad. Go Team Appropriately Costed Flyer!

so the good news is that we picked up a dimir cluestone with pick 15. the bad news is that pack 3 is pretty awful for us. 3rd warped physique? 2nd maze abomination? or a rakdos drake? another pilfered plans might keep our hand full for all the warped physiques?

+1 Warped Physique. When in doubt, follow BREAD. This is definitely R and it fits our mana curve.

I do like the drake as an evasive flyer. And another maze abomination is not too shabby either. Our deck is starting to look more and more like it has some control aspects.

The Pilfered plans will wheel for sure if the last two rounds are any indication. I'd love to see the Riot Piker wheel too.

Warped physique is probably the best here. I think our plan is just to pick up decent fixing, some removal, and maybe a wall or 2. We'll have about 7 removals with this. 4 more non-white playbles and we can cut white.

Yeah, I like Warped Physique here. This certainly doesn't have any sexy picks, but it has a bunch of average picks, so many that we'll be able to get something playable now and after it comes back to us. And I agree with what apt142 said about what will wheel

+1 Warped Physique

Since we managed to pick up a simic cluestone, I think we should splash green and take plasm capture.

Also, If we are indeed planning to cut white, I suggest considering the number of fliers we have in our other three colors. Fluxcharger is the only one. Rakdos Drake isn't the greatest little flier, but it is a flier, so I say +1 Rakdos Drake.

my only problem with a third warped physique is that it's really situational -- if we don't have lots of cards in hand, or if they have a way to pump toughness, it's no good, and sometimes even actively bad. still, it may be the best of a bad lot.

and actually, casting warped physique on nivix cyclops sounds sort of wonderful. for less than lethal, of course.

Wike900 says... #12

Now we just need to pick up an armed and we can do an 11/1 double strike Cyclops. :)

Rakdos drake us certainly appealing. At the rate we've been seeing, the physique might even wheel. I feel crazy for even thinking that.

2 hours to go, ladies and gents.

As a flyer, Rakdos drake is only good for damage. As a blocker, its too weak since it wouldn't be unleashed. Warped physique can be played after combat to deal any remaining damage we need to kill something. I stand by Warped Physique.

I'll go with +1 warped physique. I think we need a few more creatures but gotta take the removal.

July 21, 2013 1:37 a.m.

The drake, the Warped Physique, and the mana are the only cards of note for us in this pack; as we have a more controlling deck, I think the removal is a touch better for us, and the consistency in drawing that specific card (since we'll have three) is of some value.

+1 Warped Physique

this is another pretty shallow pack for us.

I know it's unpopular, but my vote is actually possibility storm. Each instant or sorcery double-triggers nivix cyclops, and since we will probably have more big creatures than other teams, we have a better probability of rolling into a fatty. Let's take it, then take nothing but murmuring phantasms and maze elementals afterwards.

pretty please? :-p

otherwise, we're looking at . . . fatal fumes, hidden strings, phantasm, or gatekeeper. also, I would like to lodge a formal complaint -- WHY ARE ALL THE GATES GREEN? seems sorta unfair.

July 21, 2013 2:27 p.m.

apt142 says... #18

Possibility Storm works both ways. We get some wild triggers, but so do they. I feel like it's too random. One 2 dropped cascaded into a Bomb on their side and it's game over.

This pack does kind of stink for us except it has some strong white choices. I didn't think I'd say this, but, I'm leaning towards Blaze Commando. I know we want to get away from white, but he's got a beefy body and 5 mana is a fine spot on our curve at the moment.

If we were to keep white in, the Sin Collector is really good! But, I'm not sure we could get that guy out on the field early enough depending on fixing. The Snare Squad is pretty decent too.

I feel like all of these are better choices than Fatal Fumes which is our preferred color pick. But, I'd rather have higher quality choices for our final deck list than just grab something because it is on color.

landot says... #19

Yeah, but if e have the most six drops, our odds of storming into one are way better. P-storm is actually pretty strong when you build around it.

July 21, 2013 6:49 p.m.

Actually, landot's argument is not invalid. Our artifacts literally all do the same thing, we can't whiff on enchantments, our playable sorceries will all do something relevant even if we take a step down, and our creature package has the potential for repeated bombitude. Thus, I could see a very real argument for Possibility Storm in our deck.

The other real card for us is Fatal Fumes.

I would like to hear some more discussion before I make my vote official.

July 21, 2013 6:56 p.m.

Even the instants in our colors are all removal (albeit we might cast Far into the storm and hit Warped physique for 1 or 0), but there's still a reasonable amount of consistency in our deck when we P-Storm.

July 21, 2013 6:58 p.m.

magerob says... #22

I agree with P-storm because it's fun.

July 21, 2013 8:11 p.m.

Euphonatron says... #23

We already have aetherling, lets take possibility storm and freaking ruin everybody's day.

July 21, 2013 8:21 p.m.

Wike900 says... #24

The thing is, if we have aetherling, then we've just totally screwed ourselves. We could take fatal fumes, which would be the safe pick. I think possibility storm will wheel.

July 22, 2013 1:40 a.m.

Euphonatron says... #25

Possibility storm doesn't get rid of aetherling. Heck, it could put it out for us. At the worst it gets put back into the library.
