That's the thing. We would take it and let it rot in our sideboard. But our deck is heavily based on instants and sorceries, and it'll only take a game for the other team to realize what's going on and side him in. I honestly dont think we NEED another phantasm, since we don't need that golden 17 creatures since our deck is different than most. Currently we have 13 on-color creatures, with another phantasm and a hired torturer coming up that should both wheel. I think its safe to hate draft the Sin Collector

I'm ok with hate drafting him. Heck if we decide to add a touch of white back in, He could even be main decked.

Not sure about bringing white back in. We have plenty of playables.

And because I might as well

version 1.0 Grixis Control/Aetherling is God:

Creature (11)

1x AEtherling

2x Carnage Gladiator

1x Fluxcharger

1x Maze Glider

1x Maze Abomination

2x Murmuring Phantasm

1x Nivix Cyclops

1x Rakdos Drake

1x Woodlot Crawler

Instant (7)

2x Far / Away

1x Punish the Enemy

1x Turn / Burn

3x Warped Physique

Enchantment (1)

1x Runner's Bane

Sorcery (3)

1x Blast of Genius

2x Pilfered Plans

Artifact (1)

Dimir Cluestone

Land (17)

2x Izzet Guildgate

1x Steam Vents

14x Other Lands

Feels weak, but has all our removal and seems consistent. Elevating gladiators and cyclops is quite powerful. The lack of the second cluestone is bad, but I'd rather not lose more creatures. Plans might have to go for something, though not sure what. If we pick up a hired torturer, that might replace something as well.

+1 sin collector; because we really won't play any of these cards.

so it looks like Caley will be autodrafting the last several picks for us -- everyone put your deckbuilding hats on, and start throwing up some possible builds. thanks.

I say sin collector

We could probably sideboard sine of the cards we are definitely not going to play main/ever (clear a path 2x, awe for the guilds, the simic cluestone) just for ease of reference.

We could possibly also move cards that we are rather unsure of playing to the board for now. (white, p-storm, the weaker creatures)

Personally, I don't think our white is strong enough to justify playing it. None of the cards are incredibly strong(although all decent), and if we use the majority of our removal suite and 10 to 13 creatures, we are practically out of room. We don't have the space to use the fixing we have. As such, grixis is probably the best way to go.

I agree with Wike900. Let's organize what we have and then make refinements that way.

Off color to the sideboard.

done. we need to cut at least 4 more cards -- my votes are 1x pilfered plans, 1x warped physique, 1x izzet cluestone, 1x breaking // entering.

Unforgivn_II says... #11

I agree with all of those, however we MAY want to keep the pilfered plans and lose the riot piker. But I'm totally fine with either decision, both are borderline

August 1, 2013 5:20 p.m.

I like cutting Warped Physique, Izzet Cluestone, Breaking // Entering, and Riot Piker. It is more important for us to have cards in hand than a (mediocre) creature in play, as card draw is more likely to find us a way to survive a bomb creature, and Riot Piker runs into x/3s a lot more often than I am comfortable with. Plus there's the marginal value of Plans working with Fluxcharger and/or Nivix Cyclops.

Agree on Commander Piker.

Breaking and Entering is definitely expensive and not likely to win us a game. So, that's on my list.

Hrm on the rest. I like Pilfered. It combos well with the Warped Physiques and the flux/nivixes. Good synergy and great card advantage. Those are a must keep to me.

How bomby is Blast of Genius?

We have a lot of kill here and I really don't want to part with any of it. But we may have to. So, we need to choose the most reliable removal. Punish is very expensive. Blast too. But Blast is card advantage. Warped is conditional on hand size. But pairs well with the pilfereds and the Blast and is super cheap to put out and doubles as extra damage for our high toughness guys.

My recommendation is to cut: Breaking/Enterting, Riot Piker, Izzet Cluestone, Punish the Enemy

Looks like we all agree on cutting breaking and the izzet cluestone, so we can side those out. Pilfered, riot and some sort of removal spell seem to be in contention. I agree with piker being cut, but I'm really not sure about the last. I am tentatively in favor of cutting a plans.

apt142 says... #15

The chopping block is:

Breaking/Entering
Izzet Cluestone
Riot Piker

The maybe list is:Pilfered PlansWarped PhysiquePunish the Enemy

I agree with the top 3 of course. But, I would love to see what others are thinking. I'm ok with any of the bottom 3 really. But would prefer the Punish at this point in time.

Anybody else want to chime in?

I say out of those last 3, cut the Warped physique. Its really situational.

Euphonatron says... #17

I have to say I see more value in B/E. either milling a LOT if cards in limited, reanimating something important, or both if we get lucky, or just a huge blast of genius slap. I just see enormous potential there.

landot says... #18

dammit. we need a team name, stat. the other teams so far are:

RussischerZar = Maze Runners, Inc.

Deckbuilder345 = Team Magic Carpet

TridenT = Team TriColor

Leafs_Suck = Vox de Bello

GureiSeion = Fifty Shades of Gurei

Darkness1835 = The Dark Brotherhood

Goody = Team Fblthp

August 2, 2013 6:49 p.m.

landot says... #19

My vote, given our deck, is Minor Cthuluoids

August 2, 2013 6:50 p.m.

Euphonatron says... #20

Aetherling and the Aetherettes?

August 2, 2013 7:08 p.m.

Unforgivn_II says... #21

I think we should keep Aetherling out of our name. They don't need to know we have him until he comes in and wins. The last thing we want is them to prepare for him. I'm fine with anything weird

August 2, 2013 7:28 p.m.

apt142 says... #22

Team Appropriately Costed Flyer?

August 2, 2013 8:05 p.m.

Wike900 says... #23

I shall resubmit Team Name. I'm not particularly familiar with Cthulu, do I can't say of that's fitting.

I wonder what we can tell from their names. When we play Goody's team, we should pretend that they are playing against the wrong team, and then drop the Totally Lost Pun. I wonder if we can prepare puns for all the teams.

Vs. Maze Runners Inc. -runners bane into "you just got shut down" or breaking/entering into them into "something funny I can't think of right now"

God these puns are all so so bad. So bad.

August 2, 2013 8:15 p.m.

Euphonatron says... #24

We could submit a false name. Ral's Punishing Storm or something cliche. maybe we just try to get them to prepare for a different deck.

also land? +1 Steam vent +2 Guildgate 5B 5U 4R???
