I concur. I think he's almost a guaranteed game over. But, on the other hand if we say we're going hard core blue and it dries up or just has a series of really crappy offerings we could be in trouble. He's just 1 card out of 40 after all.
Have you read the previous draft debates? Those are hugely valuable. Here's the most recent one:

I'm we're going to need to find synergy somewhere between what we pick somewhere along the line, and while I concur with grabbing "good stuff," I'm worried that we'll find ourselves at the end of the second round of draws without any cohesion.
June 24, 2013 4:48 p.m.
Let's not worry about colours and cohesion until we're at least 4 picks in.

It might've even been okay to hit a cluestone so that we have ramp for Aetherling.

I did read the last one. And I realize how drafting is supposed to work, with BREAD and all, but in my experience, having a plan from the beginning seems to go better than just taking good stuff and trying to piece them together. Some of the best decks don't even need bombs or removal, just because they actually work together really well and the other decks don't have enough answers. Of course, making a deck with good synergy is difficult in a draft. But while we have so many cards to choose from, we should try. Granted, this pack is pretty weaksauce, so we don't have much to choose from

I agree with apt142 and magerob in that our first several picks should just be the best available card. In this format, especially, with both gates and plenty of late cluestones, switching mid-late pack 1 is not a problem at all. I'm happy with the giant and it looks like that's the way the group is leaning? We'll see if the krasis comes around again, though I suspect it won't, just 'cause this pack is pretty thin. We probably will want to pick up an on-color cluestone (read: gruul, simic, or izzet) if we are playing multi-colored fatties, which is a real deck in this format.
So far, it looks like Giant is the pick. correct?
June 24, 2013 6:29 p.m.
Yeah, I guess so. 3 giant, 2 blast, and 1 for krasis. Although I voted for blast, giant is still a perfectly fine pick.

To make it easier on landot, Let's do the convention and put a +1 Card at the top of our votes.

Not to make things difficult or anything, but I put blast only slightly ahead of the giant for now. I'd be ok with the giant, but in terms of card advantage Blast of Genius is at least a plus one and has plus two potential, so if it's not too late I'm saying +1 Blast.

Well landot is the tiebreaker. But I'll switch my vote to
+1 Blast of Genius
I voted off of memory earlier, forgetting that you draw three instead of what I believed to be one.

I'm liking the druid and drake here. Both are early drops (yay not 6 drops) and useful. Thoughts?
June 25, 2013 11:45 a.m.
Making it easier to read:
Bronzebeak Moa
Carnage Gladiator
Rot Farm Skeleton
Clear a Path
Drown in Filth
Hired Torturer
Orzhov Guildgate
Orzhov Guildgate (there are indeed two of these; one is foil)
Rubblebelt Maaka
Sinister Possession
Wake the Reflections
Wind Drake
Zhur-Taa Druid
June 25, 2013 11:52 a.m.
I like the Wind Drake and the Carnage Gladiator.
Zhur-Taa Druid is pretty nice too. Ramp that burns the opponent is nice. Rubblebelt Maakas are a ton of fun to me personally.
+1 My tentative vote is for the the Wind Drake.
landot can you add our picks to the deck list at the top? Or will that allow other people to see them?
June 25, 2013 11:55 a.m.
I've heard that Bronzebeak Moa can get ridiculous at times. But, I have had no play experience with that card. Thoughts?
June 25, 2013 12:02 p.m.
Well, to be honest, they can see all comments we make here anyways.

bronzebeak is underrated and does work, the druid is a tell tale red/green common.
June 25, 2013 12:02 p.m.
I really like the idea of grabbing a few druids to help ramp, although they're only good if we end up with RG as our main colours. If we don't want to commit to that wind drake is likely the best option to keep us open.
June 25, 2013 1:21 p.m.
What did we pick last pack? I didn't see an official we went this way or that way on it.

This is tough. The Moa is the Nivix Cyclops of Selesnya, but unless we get some cheap creature generation, not worth it. Carnage Gladiator is a beast, when I pulled my first one I wondered "this isn't a rare?" Perhaps with more toughness he would have been. I like the Wind Drake for evasion, but going mono-blue creatures won't get us anywhere. And Zhur-Taa Druid would do work for us if we decide to get all high CMC creatures.
+1 Carnage Gladiator
I can't justify taking a wind drake or druid this early, especially when we aren't aiming for a particular archetype that requires those. While we're in goodstuff drafting mode, the Gladiator is my pick. Besides, there's a good chance the Drake will cycle, this pack has a bunch of solid picks plus multiple guildgates.
June 25, 2013 2:03 p.m.
+1 Carnage Gladiator.
Changing my vote. I can see the justification for the Carnage Gladiator. He's hard to get rid of in this format. And he allows us to be aggressive on offense.

If we took the giant last go 'round, it would be druid for sure, i say Wind Drake, because as of now, the druid does us no good.
June 25, 2013 2:22 p.m.
-1 Druid+1 Carnage Gladiator
Unforgivn is correct, Carnage Gladiator is almost a bomb in and of itself. Sadly it dies to fatal fumes ;)
Unforgivn_II says... #1
Well Ok. But I'd really like to have blue for sure. I mean, there isn't really an answer for Aetherling. Sure, its only one creature, but it'll win almost every time its out
