Golgari Charm might be a better substitute for Naturalize since you can wipe */1 weenie tokens or destroy the enchantment that needs to be stopped or regenerate your creature for the board wipe or if they suicide swing.

I feel team pavlov is in a very good place atm. It beats most of the metagame and is very consistent.

Enjoy.

If you wanted you could add 2 more Overgrown Tomb since they count as forest/swamp your other split lands still come in normal

Do you have a change list posted somewhere? I would like to see where this was pre-RTR.

+1 from me. I have a naya werewolves deck and just from reading your description of Team Pavlov I picked up many good tips to use while piloting my deck. I plan on putting together your jund build and trying it out. Good Job

GG is a common saying people say before or after a game that means "Good Game".

Can you try and fit a Black Cat in the deck? Pretty please with a cherry on top?

@3mouse : the secret of playing werewolves is to play with as many flash / instants as possible. This is why Wolfir Avenger is so good.

Got a 4-0 last friday by the skin of my teeth. Geist of Saint Traft was a pain in my A$$ and too many players at my FNM play Azorius, so I decided to remove Ultimate Price from the main decklist and add Tribute to Hunger instead.

Congrats on the 4-0. I was just wondering if there is somewhere I could see your old team pavlov before RTR hit. Thanks

Oh boy, I'm afraid it's gone.

Replace the Golgari Charm with card:Ranger's Guile, Abrupt Decay with Brimstone Volley , Tribute to Hunger with Immerwolf . In the sideboard, I obviously had 4x Ancient Grudge to deal with the swords of Mirrodin, 4x Combust to deal with Delver of Secrets  Flip and 4x Corrosive Gale to deal with Lingering Souls . As for lands, I used 4x Copperline Gorge and 4x Rootbound Crag . The deck was Gruul (Red / Green).

The old version of Team Pavlov was a lot weaker than it is now in the current meta, especially because of all those cards in the description's Hall of Shame. Yes indeed, a single Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite was shutting down the deck completly.

I played your deck at my FNM and went 3-1. I lost to a Reanimator deck that was unique. It used Seance and card:Trostani, Selesnya's Voice to bring back creatures from the grave. Also Thragtusk to stall and Angel of Serenity was super annoying. So I have to put Deathrite Shaman back in and some Daybreak Ranger  Flip for more spot removal, since most of his cratures were 4 or more cmc Abrupt Decay did almost nothing and he would have enough creatures that Tribute to Hunger was less effective. But other than that the deck did real well. Geist of Saint Traft was a easy win.

As a side note my brother clued me in to card:Tormod's Crypt which could be a better graveyard answer than card:Grafdigger's Cage because Grafdigger stalls at best but if they deal with it, their graveyard opens up for a good power play. While Tormod gets rid of the grave at the right time permanently. So running 2 and 2 in the sideboard might be better than a full set of one.

Against green/white control deck using Thragtusk / Restoration Angel / Angel of Serenity ; you need to sideboard in 4x Dreadbore and 4x Slaughter Games (calling serenity angel). Otherwise, the angel will indeed be your undoing.

Nightfall Predator  Flip  Flip is not a card I like that much, since he must flip before he becomes useful and can be dealt with rather easily. Also, against heavy hitters like Desecration Demon / Angel of Serenity / Armada Wurm / Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius ... he has a very hard time

Hey there, been a huge fan of this deck since I saw it back around DA/Avacyn. I recently took a similar Jund werewolves build to the 50k championship in Indiana and caught a lot of people by surprise. I haven't seen much recent activity and was curious if Team Pavlov is still going strong, or if it's biding it's time until GC?

One of the biggest suggestions I have for you here, against the reanimator decks you're heavily sideboarding against - I've had great results with 2-3x Revenge of the Hunted in place of Abrupt Decay /Tribute to Hunger - both of these are horrible against Reanimators of all builds IMO. Revenge helps us push through the Lingering Souls token spam they love to use; we should still be the beatdown in this matchup and I don't think we should try to attrition them through Slaughter Games simply because with how many types of Reanimators there are, and how they still manage to consistently function as a straight GWB/4c Midrange deck from their hand alone. Bonfire of the Damned would function symmetrically in this role too if you have them instead of Revenge, and they've both been great cards for me to bring in vs many aggro matchups for me as board breakers.

Perhaps I'm plain biased against graveyard hate, but I can't justify allocating 4x of a sideboard slot just for the chance to grave hate on them. How many times have you had a game vs reanimator where you draw after they reanimate their fatty, and wished it was anything else or removal instead?

I hate Miracle cards for the sole reason you can't rely on them and if they are in your starting hand, it's a dead card for many, many games you will play.

Team Pavlov is still going strong. I earned me many free MTG packs in FNMs, I'm just too lazy to post hte results. As for serious tournaments, I'm waiting on the next expansion, hoping for a decent black nuke that can hit anything at instant speed and low cmc. Right now, Murder is the only versatile nuke, but the fact it costs 2 black mana is very restrictive.

And I'm also hoping for something similar to card:Hunter's Insight. If we do get one, nukes will be replaced with creature buffs.

Fair enough, I'd guess you've just been on the bad end of them; dead in hand too many times. I used to hate them too for the same reasons, my biggest reasoning for using at least 2-3 of them - just 2-3 of them is a very low chance in the opener. The other thing is, what good is a single target Abrupt Decay going to give us in the Reanimator matchup? Black based removal is very conditional and crappy IMO right now, I see it best as a means to slow cheap aggro critters in the early game and little else.

I should also mention, I ran a 22 land build that was more GR with a black splash and more aggro than midrange. However, I've been testing your exact build here, with my own sideboard, and I've had no trouble hard casting Revenge of the Hunted . If anything, I like having a late game power card and something to do with all this mana, as evidenced by the 4x of Wolf Runs. I've had many games just opening with Moonscarred Werewolf  Flip  Flip, dropping lands every turn, almost to the point of flooding too hard, but against slower opponents I was simply able to still productively attack/dump mana, (thanks to wolf run) all the while sitting on tricks/backup creatures in hand.

T1 Wolfbitten Captive followed by T2 Revenge is no joke either, very unlikely, but, you do have a 1 drop to enable it at least.

About Bonfire too - I've seen nothing but great things from it, it's very well positioned right now. This list stands a very bad chance of getting blown out by it in fact against the new Naya midrange lists that like to run 3 or the full 4. They win the midrange vs midrange wars handily though if you get a bonfire first on the other guys' mana-dork, if not it will put you significantly ahead. The secondary desired effect is clearing the way for our wolves, something we lack using exclusively single target kill spells.

Anyway, I highly approve of card:Hunter's Insight too. Lambholt Elder  Flip by the same token has proven to me to be a sideboard all star against control matchups. Against control, I really hate the fact that our werewolf lists run about 24-26 creatures tops, counting Garruk, so upping the threat density seems ideal to me.

I hear all the arguments about all great Revenge of the Hunted is when miracle. But I hate beating someone and they tell me it was due to pure miracle luck. As for hard casting it, I rarely tap out all my lands ... in fact, I try not to. Really, it's not a card I like.

Bonfire of the Damned is very fun to counter with Golgari Charm . You regen all your creatures. That charm is truely an all-star card in this deck. I rarely sideboard it out.

Many Black Reanimator at my FNM runs Intangible Virtue and Vampire Nighthawk , both of which can be dealt with Abrupt Decay . But of couse, it's the first card I sideboard out.

We'll just wait and see what the next expansion brings us. I have a feeling the deck is going back to dual Green/Red. Like you said, black removal isn't that great ... but it does counter the many, many people at my FNMs that play Geist of Saint Traft .
