Oh man. All the choices!
I partly want the Hired Torturer just for cheap dudestuffs. No small part of me would like another Weapon Surge. Showstopper is neat, but we have one... could get two for consistency. Gleam of Battle could increase our splash to a sploosh. What do we think?

I think either Hired Torturer or Fatal Fumes . Gleam of battle is cool, but it cost six mana, and we already have 3 things that cost 6 mana. Showstopper WILL table. For sure.
July 10, 2013 9:21 a.m.
Hm.. we have 2 creatures with CMC < 4.
As much I would like Fatal Fumes
i think I'll vote for Hired Torturer
. A second removal spell would also be nice though.
July 10, 2013 2:04 p.m.
Yep, about what I was feeling. Let's Hired Torturer it up! We'll keep an eye out for removal. We may well see more Fatal Fumeseses.

Yeah, if Fatal Fumes was any higher quality of removal I would prefer it over a small creature. However, since it only kills 2 toughness creatures, having Hired Torturer simply for the 3 toughness blocker will probably do a better job stalling us out into our fatties.

I vote for Hired Torturer . It is really powerful late game because it wins stalled games since it has reach (direct 2 life loss) which is pretty awesome. Its another way to gradually lower the opponents life which is good and has the chance to deal the killing blow.

Btw Showstopper and Fatal Fumes are pretty bad cards since their use is so limited. I don't think neither are ever worth playing unless the deck already horrible.

And Drown in Filth . The chance of actually killing a creature is pretty low so its not worth a spot in our deck either.
I just wanted to make sure we are not basing our picks on revolving around these cards.
July 10, 2013 11:40 p.m.
I am not at all desiring of Drown in Filth. It is just a bad card. It will wheel like a wagon.
Fatal Fumes, in this format, is one of a very scant few removal cards, which stinks because so few creatures are 2 or fewer toughness. It does combat trick though, so there's that.
Showstopper we got as a pick 15 autodraft. I don't think anyone's pretending it's good times. But given what we've got, it's in color, and if we're getting blown out in combat, it can serve to even things up somewhat. But it's very situational and I doubt it sees maindeck here.

Boros Guildgate
Kraul Warrior
Mending Touch
Sinister Possession
Smelt-Ward Gatekeepers
Steeple Roc
Tithe Drinker
Uncovered Clues
Wake the Reflections

Well, if we want a two-drop, Tithe Drinker is the pick and we splash a smidge more white where possible. Of course, the Boros Guildgate could make two, giving us an edge on playing our current white splash card, and hopefully rob someone of a fix. Kraul Warrior is our straight shot green, and also another valuable twofer. We could take Smelt-Ward Gatekeepers for that delicous creature steal. I don't know that we have much, if any stock in any others here. Sinister Possession might wheel but we're in the shallow end of wheels at this point.
July 11, 2013 4:39 a.m.
Boros Guildgate
? Kraul Warrior
? I want both the early guy and the fixing; it's just which will we be able to pick up later?
Unfortunately DGM packs aren't very deep, so I'm going to vote for Kraul Warrior just to get more good playables.

I agree with Hubatish, either Kraul Warrior or Boros Guildgate . And his reasoning also makes perfect sense. While I love Tithe Drinker , taking him is hard because that means we have to take more mana fixing, and while he's a great common, hes not splash good.
Vote for Kraul Warrior .

I have to disagree. Since we're playing four colors, we have to prioritize mana fixing much higher than some random bears. This format won't be terribly aggressive anyway, so the usefulness of bears will be limited. I think we definitely need to take the Boros Guildgate . We want to splash white as easily as possible.

Yeah, i think the Boros Guildgate is a better choice. The mana fixing is more valuable especially if we want to play Tajic, Blade of the Legion .

Also, i was wondering if there was any way we could organize the picks we already have by cmc or at least exclude the cards we are less likely to play to see what we have.
July 11, 2013 5:23 p.m.
I'll tell you what Frostblade, I'll move the unlikely cards to the Maybeboard to get them out of the way after this pick. There has been concern among the group leaders that putting cards in the main shows off the color pie in the thumbnail; if anyone is able to sneak a peek at the decks in our decklists, they'd know our color scheme.
I really feel like we want the Boros Guildgate here. That puts us at three gates, and to be quite honest I wouldn't mind getting a Gatekeeper here or there and getting value out of them.
I think we'll see another Kraul Warrior, and we'll see other Gates, but there's no telling if they'll be gates we can put to use.

Back from 6 day camping trip. I vote for the guildgate also. It's going to get snatched up far faster than the Kraul
