Artist tribal wars!
Here's my take at a deck comprised entirely of cards with art by Mark Tedin. It's a casual build, but it follows the Vintage ban list, hence the single copy of Ponder, and the lack of
Chaos Orb
lol.
It's a fairly janky UB "control" build. The goal is to hold off the opponent until Emmy comes out.
Mana Drain, Doubling Cube, and the three best mana rocks in the game make it a fairly easy goal to accomplish. With a nut draw, a turn two Emmy is possible; although, it does require an exact eight cards.
Temporal Adept
is the main star, early game. The bounce effect may be mana intensive, but it can slow down your opponent greatly. It also combos nicely with
Mind Control
, as it lets you bounce the enchantment, and steal something else. It's also great for infinite turns, with Emmy; although at that point, you've probably already won.
Ponder,
Timetwister
, and
Braingeyser
are the Tedin card draw suite.
Necropotence
is also technically card draw, but it's mostly there to knock off the last bit of life, to take advantage of
Second Chance
.
At first, I wasn't going to bother with
Second Chance
, but with the City of Brass, and
Grim Tutor
draining our life, it really does help get the last push to Emmy.
Grim Tutor
is a tutor by Tedin, nuff said.
Memory Lapse really helps slow down the opponent early on.
Draining Whelk
is one of the few usable win cons in the deck, and it rounds out the counters.
Urza's Factory makes use of mana flooding, or stalled out games.
The sideboard just has a few more copies of certain cards; as well as a Nevinyrral's Disk for a boardwipe; No Mercy to deal with creature decks. Artifact disruption doesn't really exist in UB, especially with the Tedin restriction. That's where
Curse Artifact
comes in.
Stench of Evil
is obviously just hate; no real point to it, just an easy win against mono white.
