I appreciate the suggestions, but at that point, the deck becomes a totally different entity. Also, there really hasn't been a lot of issues with gameplay needing to be smoothed out. Thunderbreak has been underwhelming and because of the heavy control meta, stubborn denial becomes much worse with Courser of Kruphix as it becomes increasingly easier for a good player to play around. I don't totally disagree with the assessment of Atarka's Command. However, your suggestion of Flamewake phoenix does peek my interest a bit, I may test with replacing courser completely with the phoenix. Also, with the lack of mana dorks, I haven't found crater's claws particularly impressive. I'm 6-1 with the deck right now, only losing to a good friends deck I expect to see big things from in Toronto next weekend. There are def. some ideas you have given me. Thx for the comments.

While the deck performed well throughout the day, I ended with a disappointing 5-4 record though day 1. Mistakes were made. Primarily, some of the decisions I had made anticipating a heavier control meta game proved to be incorrect. Cards that under-performed for me all day were Flamewake Phoenix and Roast.
Flamewake Phoenix - While this card is a solid choice in a Tempo shell, in an increasingly heavy Aggro format, the inability to utilize his recursive ability by blocking and staving off damage is too big of a problem. He is no Chandra's Phoenix!
Roast - While I understand where 5 dmg. to a creature without flying is good, I found that the number of dragons that are actually being played in this format as well as cards like Ashcloud Phoenix and Wingmate Roc make this card a dead slot more often than not.
However, on a positive note. A card that I decided on last minute, (as a 1-of mind you), turned out to be a superstar! That little guy was called Clever Impersonator! Every time I cast this card, I won the game. Traditionally, I'm not a big fan of clones, but the versatility of this card is unparalleled. At times throughout the tournament, he stole tempo back for me against the various Abzan decks by copying cards like Siege Rhino and Elspeth, Sun's Champion and was able to put me over the top against different aggro decks by becoming the 5th Icefall Regent in my deck and locking down threats. With creatures being so powerful in standard now, this guy is primed to be an all-star. While I am infatuated with card, I don't think he warrants more than two slots in the deck.
I think if we take this deck into a heavier blue shell and increase the number of bounce spells in the deck from 2 to 4, add an additional 25th land, that we may have cracked the code for this build.

My thoughts and some things I would do to smoothen out gameplay:
Atarka's command doesn't fit this kind of deck. The 1 ramp isn't worth the card and this deck can't make particular use of the other modes.
Stubborn denial should be a 4 of.
A few Crater's Claw help you close the game.
Trade out Sagu Mauler and Anticipates for Thunderbreak Regents and a 4th Courser.
Lastly consider playing Flamewake pheonix and pay attention to xenagos during playtesting I don't think he's doing enough but again that's a playtesting thing.
Other than that looks solid tell me what you think about these changes
