Sideboard

This is my take on Temur. I have done quite well at FNM in the last couple of weeks going 4-0 and 3-1. My only loss was due to a minor misplay during game three of the match that cost me the match. The deck seems to have decent matchup against the rest of the current field at the moment.

I originally built the deck based around the G/R devotion deck that Reid Duke played at the end of last standard, but I found that the deck lacked card advantage engines that Domri and Garruk provided, in addition it also lacked the utility of removal that Domri provided.

So I decided to use Temur Ascendancy for a card advantage engine against control decks or decks with a lot of removal. The more I played though, the planeswalkers available to Temur colors seem to have become weaker after Khans as there are more haste creatures in Khans, such as Savage knuckleblade and Mantis Rider. Additionally, it did not trigger the Temur Ascendancy. So I decided to cut them altogether and just play more 4+ power creatures.

Some key cards are as follows:

Crater's Claws is one of the new additions to the deck. It allows the deck to be able to win out of nowhere at the end of the game. it also can deal with planeswalkers really easily. Very versatile spell that fits the deck's strategy.

Temur Ascendancy is one of the most important card in the deck against control or any deck that has a lot of removal. It allows you to get card advantage and every threat that you play becomes able to attack immediately. With most of the creatures in the deck having 4+ power, the ascendancy will often get you more cards.

Stubborn Denial Originally this card was left in the sideboard and brought in against decks with black removal. Each time it was cast, it locks up the game pretty hard, as it protects the creature that you are trying to protect or it counters important spells such as planeswalkers. Since then, the deck is now in the main deck meant to protect threats and counter Elspeths.

Ashcloud Phoenix is a card I have been testing in the deck lately as the deck has a weakness against flyers like most green decks do. There are a few flyers that are very important in the format such as Butcher of the Horde, Mantis Rider and opposing Stormbreath Dragon. This card allows to block while maintaining card advantage.

Courser of Kruphix is the card that I am thinking of cutting in the deck as it does not trigger the ascendancy nor Stubborn Denial. It is also not a mana dork, so it is stuck in the middle, mainly for card advantage and smooting out mana. I am contemplating on replacing it with Goblin Rabblemaster.

Savage Knuckleblade is one of the best 3 drops in the format. It does so many things. Once you untap with it, it becomes quite a force for the opponent. it is hard to block and if not removed the turn it is cast, it also is very hard to remove.

Genesis Hydra is a source of card advantage against black removal decks as it will often get you another permanent into play and lets you draw at least a card if you cast it with X = 4.

Hour of Need This card is only as a one of. Green decks have a problem late game if they top deck too many mana dorks. This allows some kind of insurance that the mana dorks are useful late in the game. It can also be used at the beginning of the game to turn your Elvish Mystic into a 4/4 blocker potentially blowing out opposing Mantis Rider or other aggro starts. Additionally if cast with strive while Temur Ascendancy is in play, this card draws you a lot of cards.

Please provide me with suggestions on how I can improve the deck.

Thanks
