The card you are looking for is Stubborn Denial

Surrak Dragonclaw is now up.

Though I'm not sure it would work well here.

Why wouldn't Surrak work well? It's a creature heavy deck. He's perfect for anything creature heavy.

This is just my opinion, but the deck looks a little slow. Most of the heavy hitting stuff hits Turn 4 or after. Any early game removal that wipes out your mana dorks puts you in a tough spot.

jtsrtr4326: Yes that is very true, though there isn't a faster way to get out your fatties. The only thing that could be a problem is Anger of the Gods since it hits Sylvan Caryatid which could combat the acceleration. I'm going to put Savage Knuckleblade in here most likely, and that can drop turn 2... anyways, thank you!:)

Stubborn Denial Is a sideboard card, in my mind. Even though black decks will run Thoughtseize Mainboard, it's still conditional. However, the the ferocious, it might be useful at 1-2 copies main board.

HyperAggroFreak: Thanks yet again! It seems like fantastic protection in general, but yes, conditional. I think it should probably stay in the side :)

I would drop 2 Stormbreath Dragon for a Kiora, the Crashing Wave and a Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker .

Also I would drop a Temple of Abandon and a Polukranos, World Eater for the last Rattleclaw Mystic and Courser of Kruphix .

I know my edits mess with the Temur Ascendancy but I think they're worth it.

I might be running this at a GP next year.

Hello, sir. You've got so much ramp, you could squeeze in 1 more creature, walker, or spell by dropping to 23 lands without any appreciable difference on speed and ramp effect. I run something similar to a very good effect. Also, do you feel like 4 Polukranos is very Legendary-heavy, or not so much? Still gets an upvote from me for being badass.

Hey man, I see you have a million different suggestions flying your way lol, but I would drop a single Polukranos, World Eater for the 4th Courser of Kruphix 3 of Poly-k has always seemed to be the magic number when it comes to G/R Monster core builds c:

WHy do bother using Rattleclaw Mystic ? Too slow, too vulnerable, too situational ...... You dont need 12 mana creatures ...... remove them and squeeze something else ..

September 13, 2014 3:36 p.m.

Pinkyplys says... #12

Maybe, but Rattleclaw Mystic should be the last one he removes... Its to good in this deck! and I don't think its to much... but maybe you should remove 2x Sylvan Caryatid ...

September 13, 2014 3:39 p.m.

Prehstun says... #13

I dunno if I would consider Sylvan Caryatid worse than Rattleclaw Mystic It has a bigger but, it's hexproof, and it provides every color the mystic does + more.

September 13, 2014 3:50 p.m.

Pinkyplys says... #14

I still think you are wrong. :)

Rattleclaw Mystic has (in this deck) also every color. plus its incredible good for mana fixing. are you sitting with 3 forests??? nope no more. Its realy useful, and sometimes 2/1 is better than 0/3. Even tho I like the 0/3 more xD

kemps221 says... #15

I think in most cases the Sylvan is better, even in this deck. If you have the correct cards in your had, like a sagu mauler and your rattleclaw manages to survive you can turn 3 a sagu which is pretty good. Other than that, the 0/3 hexproofer is better 9 times out of 10. In my opinion.

September 13, 2014 4:25 p.m.

Pinkyplys says... #16

Maybe. But the mana fix, is still better in a 3 colored deck like this, (in my opinion)

But we could keep discussing for years :D !

Also u dont need 3 Temur Ascendancy. Reduce it to 2 and add 1 more surrak..... Remove this 2 mystic and add 4th crupix and 1 kiora. Sagu Mauler to side and add 2 Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker. Also for sideboard u need at least 2 -3 plummet by removing Unravel the Aether.

idylian says... #18

It would be good to squeeze 2 -3 magma yet to this deck. Changing mana base z bit casue i see only 7 blue mana. Maybe change 1 Temple of Abandon to 1 Shivan Reef ? But this is optional.

I think what really makes Rattleclaw Mystic good is that it can morph to add exactly the mana you need for the awesome Temur cards like Surrak and Knuckleblade. Sure, Caryatid is nice with its hexproof, but I feel like most people will sooner focus their removal on your fatties than your mana dorks. I will say though that you might be better choosing one or the other. 3 of Surrak Dragonclaw will probably be better than 4 and 2 of the mana dorks like you have right now.

Also, I personally like Stubborn Denial mainboard because you've already got answers for creatures with bigger creatures, so why not let those big creatures help you answer non-creatures? I also have had too many experiences where not having counters to removal in my mainboard have put me in a 0-1 hole, which is really annoying to struggle out of, so I prefer running some counter to removal in my mainboard.

Why do you feel the 2 sarkhans out weigh the sagu maulers? I think sarkhan isn't that amazing tbh. He can be removed pretty easily, even before his +1 resolves.

Playtested 7 games against my aggressive mardu list.

I gotta say, the matches were incredibly dependent on play draw. Whoever had the play basically won there. (your monsters list won 4-3 because you won the die roll). My rush deck simply could not beat turn 2 courser unless I hard stoke the flames, and even then most of the time you had a powerful followup (knuckleblade does wonders). I loved stubborn denial from the list. Saves your big guys against removal/burn, which i believe is the more important mode of the card. That said, i felt like Temur Ascendancy is very much a win more card here. It does nothing to claw you back when you're behind, and basically says "whenever things are going well, things go better than that".

I'd probably play Nissa, Worldwaker instead of the ascendancy. Hope you find my cents useful.

Energycore says... #22

Thinking about the ascendancy, you'd probably side it out for Anger of the Gods in this matchup. That makes me like it more than on first thought. The 7 games were pre-boarded too, because i haven't a sideboard for the mardu list.

I don't think you should run Xenagos, The Reveler since he doens't really fits in, he makes many creatures, you want big creatures...

maybe you should add Surrak Dragonclaw to the mainboard.

kemps221 Monsters lists already play creatures that will draw all the removal, and the only things Sarkhan can die to are still hero's downfall and vindicate effects (of which we have two, utter end and banishing light). The enemy player's removal is already going to be stretched thin. I'd play sarkhan mainboard because it also happens to kill some of the most important creatures in the format, be it Butcher of the Horde , Stormbreath Dragon or Savage Knuckleblade .

Also, Sagu Mauler is not immune to removal thanks to the printing of Crackling Doom
