I do believe the power level between sarkhan and dragon is comparable. It'll take a lot of testing to know which is better and even then i'm sure it's situational (they're both great answers for butcher of the horde but you can argue dragon being better against mardu strategies). Sarkhan's +1 does put him out of Stoke the Flames range, which is worth considering.
As for Sagu, I can see it working just because he'll be bigger than most stuff, which couples great with hexproof.

I second having an extra Surrak in the Sideboard, as he's great against control. I would also consider doing dropping one Stormbreath Dragon to include a Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker , as he's almost the same thing, but in PW form.

I personally prefer Stormbreath Dragon over Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker any day of the week. I feel like Stormy has a better power ratio than Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker , because Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker can't block, for one, and he can't monstrous into a 7/7 flyer. Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker 's -2 is conditional, as it's not that great.

Ember Swallower 's monstrosity ability is very good anti-aggro tech, and it won't be that common in metagames. Plus the mana loss won't be bad considering all the mana creatures you're playing.

i would add 1 nissas wordlweaker over 1 Rattleclaw Mystic

I run Savage Knuckleblade in my Temur deck. Its second ability is actually really useful for dodging removal and then you can cast him next turn and give him haste.
Savage Punch also does a lot of work for me. I love that it doesn't cause the creature to tap. Get +2/+2, take out something troublesome, then swing for massive damage.

I personally think that this deck is slightly too slow. Most of the power comes from 5 or 6 cmc cards. I would definitely put in 4 Savage Knuckleblade
in place of 3 Sagu Mauler
and 1 Kiora, the Crashing Wave
, I don't really think she helps progress this style at all, as good as she is. Removal in this format is relatively expensive and a turn 3 4/4 with haste is really good. There isn't enough removal/interaction in this deck for the threats to all be that expensive so lowering your curve will be great.
As far as the mana base goes, I would remove 1 Forest
and 1 Temple of Mystery
and slot in 2 more Mana Confluence
to increase the chance of a turn 2 Savage Knuckleblade
or Temur Ascendancy
.
Just my 2 cents. I really like the idea of this deck and will be playing one myself this standard season. Good luck!!

Currently running an almost EXACT list accept I've opted for 2x Xenagos, The Reveler and 3x Kiora, the Crashing Wave for -2 Temur Ascendancy I disagree with the comment above mine. If you truly are going for a more midrange playstyle her bubble is perfect and if by the chance you pop her ulti, you kinda just win. With the format slowing down and her price spiking everywhere it's pretty apparent how good she's gunna be c: I've also been in search for a spot for Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker as well as Crater's Claws but I'm still unsure as what to drop. Possibly a few dorks or maybe my singleton Xenagod.

I would personally run the sarkhan over craters claws. If it were an instant that'd be huge! I will be running 2-3 copies of Mindswipe however because that card is too good!

My budget deck beats this list pretty reliably. Here's the list.

jvespeiro: If I had room, I would definitely add some Sagu Mauler, and I run Rattleclaw Mystic Just because it is more aggressive and can trade with stuff if I have to :D

This deck is ok but if you want to run Sarkhan Unbroken add MORE dragons.
4 Stormbreath Dragon in mainboard and 1 Dragonlord Atarka in maybe doesn't give enough dig power for Sarkhan.
March 8, 2015 3:54 a.m.
4 Stormbreath is plenty enough. You'll almost never ult Sarkhan, so you don't really need to worry about it anyway. Even if you do, searching for 2, maybe even 3 4/4 flying hasties is pretty much GG. No Maelstrom Pulse in this format.

If your concerned about not getting full value from ult-ing Sarkhan then maybe throw in a couple Thunderbreak Regent. It's looking to be the most playable new dragon printed in DTK outside of the Dragonlords themselves.
March 10, 2015 2:17 a.m.
you guys realise that ulting Sarkhan Unbroken with 4 Stormbreath Dragon is 16 dmg when they attack. also count in fetches and attacking even once before means its game. Add in Dragonlord Atarka or Atarka, World Render and it's easily a kill, kind of overkill. The deck plays a solid number of creatures that are powerful enough, it doesn't need 2 overload on dragons

Even still, Sarkhan is a glorified Stormbreath. Stormbreath outshines him in most cases to be honest. With you even saying that removal is thin wont the Sagu be EVEN harder to deal with. I honestly believe Sagu is a sleeper and I would absolutely put him in a monsters deck for my high curve. Also, I do agree sarkhans -3 is good, but paying 5 man and potentially losing him for 4 damage isn't that great. Crater's Claws does what he does, but yet again, better.
