This is my first ever EDH deck, and still the best. It combines strong spot removal with sweepers, control, and reanimation elements that give it a very strong long game. It isn't explosive, but it excels at the kind of attrition game I enjoy the most. The most important thing to understand about Teneb, as opposed to the more popular Karador, is that Teneb takes THEIR stuff, while Karador only takes YOUR stuff. Karador is generally faster and more resilient...until they take out your graveyard. Teneb forces your opponents to take out their own graveyards in order to stop them playing with your toys, which gives him a lower floor, but also a higher ceiling and variance, than Karador.

I replaced Creeping Renaissance with Season's Past, even though Creeping Renaissance was my preview card, way back when I first started writing. Renaissance is a solid card, and in some decks (mainly ones that are build around a single type of permanent), it will give you better value. However, Season's Past is more versatile and, most importantly, it guarantees you can get back whatever your favorite card, regardless of type.
