Teshar and unorthodox combos? Do everything or nothing in mono white, mostly brown artifact storm! This deck wants to win with zany, complicated combos and, much like any artifact deck, can cross its combos quite simply and often. But for the basis of any curious as to the deck let's begin:
Terms for cards in the deck:
0 Slots-An artifact cards with a 0 casting cost. In this deck:
Mox Amber
,
Everflowing Chalice
,
Tormod's Crypt
, pohyrexian walker,
Ornithopter
, and
Hangarback Walker
. Many more exist but they are combo pieces that can be largely unhelpful without the combo ready so limiting to these.
Retriever-A creature that returns to hand an artifact. Many more exist but for here we have:
Scrap Trawler
,
Myr Retriever
,
Workshop Assistant
, and
Junk Diver
again limited as redundancy can go extreme and these ones maximize Teshar as historic and 3 drops or lower.
Sac Outlet-Most probably know but any card that says sac an artifact or creature as the activation of an effect without tapping with the exception of
Blasting Station
as it untaps itself. The others here are:
Arcbound Ravager
,
Altar of Dementia
,
Phyrexian Altar
,
Ashnod's Altar
,
Spawning Pit
, and marytr's cause. Again, many, many more exist but these are the ones I chose but plenty more exist.
Note: I left a few _MUCH _cheaper suggestions for artifact ones that are unknown in the MaybeBoard as I know ravager is NOT cheap. Slasher would be in here 1000% if it was a 3 drop as a self-protecting artifact sac outelt, recurable by Teshar... and I'm getting off topic!
Teshar Loops- Teshar is rather unique in that he counts historic cards but there's an overlap between artifact creatures. Using cards that are both we can easily abuse this.
Teshar + 0 Slot + Retriever + Sac Outlet= Infinite mana, mill, or power depending on the sac outlet. How it works: Sac 0 Slot then sac Retreiver. Retriever will return 0 Slot to hand. Recast 0 Slot for free. Teshar will trigger returning the Retriever.
How to win:
Mill Dementia + Tormod's Crypt or
Remorseful Cleric
can work through even Eldrazi shufflers. Either way exile their whole yard so they got Leveler-ed! Who knew mono white mill was a thing?
-
Desecrated Tomb
added to the equation equals infinite 1/1 flyers so swing next turn? It'l trigger each step of the loop and be rather devastating. A regular ie non artifact wrath likely won't stop you as you only would need to recast Teshar to resume making arbitrarily large numbers of bats.
Aetherflux Reservoir
is the cleanest way to win. As you recast your 0 Slot you'll trigger Reservoir to gain more life and eventually can gun down the entire table with 50 increment blasts of death.
Teshar + 0 Slot + Blasting Station + Retriever- As was earlier mentioned Blasting Station is unique in a few ways in it resets itself but beyond that it damages for 1 which can kill a table when infinite! It's the sac outlet and the wincon in one so you can simplify this combo considerably.
Enduring Renewal
(aka Pebbles)Loops:
Is a very cool card in that it has a lot of text but can essentially act as a backup Teshar. Every time you would lose a creature it goes back to your hand afterwards meaning you get the death triggers. But it only works with creatures. Now you could try to reduce the cost of the Retrivers to 0 as early versions of this deck did but frankly enough 0 Slot creatures exist. Since Renewal only works with creatures we are cutting our options in half but that's not a big problem as we can cut the Retriever out too. Now all we need is:
Enduring Renewal + 0 Slot Creature + Sac Outlet = infinite ETBs and deaths so any of the above win cons will end it albeit milling will be harder whilst Aetherflux is easiest.
-Enduring Renewal + 0 Slot + Blasting Station = win. Isn't Blasting Station just amazing? It can sac the 0 Slot and then untap as it enters for free to repeat the process!
-Enduring Renewal + Hangarback Walker + Win Con = win. This works as you don't even need a sac outlet as if X is set to 0 then it will enter, die to state based action, and return to hand allowing you to repeat the loop.
Protecting your Combos. Because most players as opposed to losing for whatever reason the deck runs a few ways to make stopping you far harder.
Grand Abolisher
just says "NO" to any interruption so have at it!
Shimmer Myr
and
Winding Canyons
give your artifacts and creatures, respectively, flash. These allow you to combo when least expected and folks are tapped out. Shimmer Myr will allow any part whereas to win with Canyons you need the win con and sac outlet already out unless it's Ravager 9or another creature you opted for).
Other win cons? There aren't many.
Mirror Entity
can take your small creatures and make them massive for the win. Teshar can suit up
Loxodon Warhammer
for a voltron win and with
Skullclamp
and/or
Sword of the Animist
it's a decent clock. beyond that
Avacyn, Angel of Hope
or large Hangarback or Ravager can do decent damage too. This deck is designed to be a slow, silly combo deck.
What Else? Removal, some hate pieces, protection, and a little filler. I'll get to that enxt time but for now if this deck intrigued you would you care to give it a thumbs up? This isn't a primer or anything so presumptuous but I enjoy sharing my unique takes on decks. Later!
