Teshar's Trash Pile

Commander / EDH* Mono-White

Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle is the commander Mono white has been waiting for. White and red are famously the worst colors in commander due to the considerable lack of the two most important features of a commander deck: ramp and card draw. Mono red has commanders such as Neheb, the Eternal to compensate for a lack of ramp or Wheel of Fortune effects to make up for the card draw. Mono white has been lacking commander support until Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle.

I would argue Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle addresses the ramp concern simply by having a naturally low average CMC. Thanks to this low CMC, it is not abnormal for Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle to combo off and win with access to only 5 mana. Card draw is also not a concern in this deck as Teshar, Ancestor's Apostle enables an incredible amount of card draw with artifacts such as Conjurer's Bauble, Chromatic Sphere, or Terrarion. It's not uncommon to draw your entire deck when you set up a loop.

The Loops: Loops involve sacrificing creatures and artifacts for value and then casting historic spells (mostly artifacts) to recur the creatures you sacrificed. Many of the creatures can then return some of the non-creature artifacts either to your hand or to the battlfield (e.g. Salvage Scout). Loops are either limited based on the amount of mana available to you or infinite. They are are highly customizable but typically involve similar set ups. Limited and infinite loops will often involve one or more of the following: Myr Retriever, Workshop Assistant, Junk Diver, Scrap Trawler.

Limited loops often involve Skullclamp or a non-mana generating sac outlet like Claws of Gix or Altar of Dementia. I typically use these loops to gain card advantage through drawing cards or ramping with Burnished Hart. These are the value engines that get you to your wincon.

Infinite Loops are what win you games. The infinite loops will enable you to draw your deck and make infinite mana to play your wincons. The wincons in this list are Mill (Altar of the Brood + Altar of Dementia), Storm (Aetherflux Reservoir), and Damage Loops (Perilous Myr + Blasting Station).

There are a lot of different loops you can pull of with Teshar. I still find more each time I play the deck. I would suggest watching some gameplay to get an idea of the kind of loops you can pull off.

Self Mill: In mono white card draw sucks. But with Teshar, self mill can act as pseudo-card draw by giving you more Teshar trigger options. Mesmeric Orb: I added this card after it was played by an opponent during a Teshar game. The milling enabled the deck so much and lead to a win by putting Recruiter of the Guard into my graveyard. Since then, it has been a nice turn 2 drop but draws a lot of hate.

Grinding Station: Similar concept to Mesmeric Orb but WAY FASTER. If you have a card draw artifact to loop with grinding station or one of the Myr Retriever effects, this can put your whole deck in your graveyard if you want. Dig until you find the pieces you need for the win and just bring them back to your hand or play. A must include in any Teshar list.
