This is my first standard deck, aeth. rev. 2017. Nothing fancy.

Go for a turn 3 5/5 flyer. Otherwise, slow your opponent down with Hope of Ghirapur, Metallic Rebuke, and Pacification Array. Hope for card advantage via Reverse Engineer and Herald of Agony. Removal using Fatal Push, Battle at the Bridge. Tez for Ramping and extra removal.

It doesn't work that great in the current meta, because any top deck can get an even bigger creature out faster than this, but it is an okay deck, nonetheless, and fairly consistent.

I think I could take out tez completely, and also take one Reverse Engineer and One Metallic Rebuke out. I could even take out one more removal. Or replace pacification array... but what should I replace them with? 4 aetherspheres? --Note: I really only have kaladesh block cards right now, nothing earlier. If there are any obvious fixes, would love to hear them!

This deck went 0-3 last night. Lost to u/w spirits, r/g gearhulk/walking ballista/Bomat courier/metallic mimic, and u/r zombie emerge with Fevered Visions and stitchwing scaab.

Lightning Axe got my Herald a few times. I sideboarded in a couple Bastion Inventor, but no luck...

U/r zombie emerge was a great counter to the herald, because many cards cast better from the graveyard. I need a way to exile, but didn't have it.

A way to destroy enchantments would have been nice, but mostly i think I got "out-aggro'd." I had some bad luck, but there were other problems.

I don't know enough about earlier sets yet to know when I should use my counters. Also, I am not sure if I play too aggressively. Perhaps I cast my Heralds too early or attack too much vs. Flash decks, who can answer that damage very suddenly....

But I'll keep this deck in mind for the future.... after some older sets cycle out, and newer ones come in, I hope to see u/b become a little stronger...

I might try this deck one more time, but I also think I should try something simpler for now until I get used to the other decks... I'm thinking mono red.... or Perhaps Italian revolt???
