Tezzeret, and his new Eldrazi friends.

Oathbreaker Affinity Artifact Eldrazi UB (Dimir)

Breaking News: Affinity is Powerful.

Tezzeret, Master of the Bridge comes with a pretty sick passive ability: creature and planeswalker spells have affinity. This deck does the obvious thing and casts big spells for cheap or free. The problem is, I don't know which artifacts are really good for such a thing so I just dropped in some Myr and whatever I had lying around.

My objective is to get a lot of artifacts on the field, cast Tezzeret, and then +2 him until I'm the last man standing. Failing that, I cast big Eldrazi dudes for cheap or free thanks to Affinity and then beat face.

I put Revel in Riches in this deck as an alternate win-con. With Masterful Replication as the signature spell, you can turn all of your artifacts into treasure at instant speed at your upkeep and win the game. This is a stylish and hopefully overlooked win con, but I haven't gotten it to go off yet so I'm considering taking it out. Spell Swindle is cool for making lots of artifacts, but it's obviously quite expensive for a counterspell.

I also include several Investigate cards for some easy artifacts. The big ones are Trail of Evidence and Confirm Suspicions . I think the same thing about Suspicions as I do about Swindle. Trail is solid, though.

Pros:

  • It feels really nice to drop a Myr Battlesphere like an Ornithopter .
  • Tezzeret's +2 deals damage to each player, and it doesn't target, so hexproof players are not safe and we're not picking on anyone (we may be playing affinity but we still have to be considerate of others).
  • The ability to make all of our artifacts into the same artifact thanks to Masterful Replication has the potential for fun and cool plays. I like to make them into Master of Ethereum or Ichorclaw Myr .

Cons:

  • Tez and Masterful Replication are both 6cmc cards. In addition to being expensive as all get-out, they have the same cmc which I prefer to avoid. Dark Ritual is in the deck to get Tez out as fast as possible. Jhoira's Familiar is also here for this purpose among others.
  • Fliers are our nightmare. Our thopters might hold up as chump blockers to the most half-hearted of air forces, but I don't have much confidence in them against anything more.
  • We are weak to aggro in general.

Questions:

  1. Are the tricks I mentioned worth having Masterful Replication as a sig spell? I'd rather have something cheaper that can make more artifacts if possible.
  2. What are the best Eldrazi for our purposes? I only included ones that I own for now.
  3. Should we remove Revel in Riches ? If so, what should we replace it with?
  4. How can we deal with aggro and fliers? Boardwipes will kneecap us, too.
  5. Are the mana Myr I have better than non-creature rocks?

Please feel free to recommend any good artifacts, Eldrazi, or spells that are good at making artifacts. I'm thinking Hangarback Walker might be a good one for this deck, as Affinity will make it easier to cast for higher values of X.

*At the moment, I only have cards in this decklist that I actually own. Cards I don't own but want in the deck are in the acquireboard, cards I know of but am on the fence about are in the maybeboard.

Updates Add

Thoughtcast beats the tar out of Masterful Replication as the signature spell. Since MR is no longer the signature spell, it seems that Revel In Riches is a lot less likely to get a W. I'll probably replace it with Efficient Construction or Mechanized Production.
