Round 1: A Bye. The Wrong Kind of Bye Obtained By Simply Being Late.

Aka a match loss due to me not knowing Modern was at 2:45 and not 3:00. They moved the time up and I stupidly declined to check, assuming Modern was at 3:00. I arrived at 2:55.

Round 2: Zoo with KotR combo

Game 1: Stuck early Traft, but declined to protect it when opponent had Tec Edge and I had my 4 colors (in the form of 3 lands) + Flooded Strand on field. I had Resto in hand but didn't use it. I could have easily won if I was okay with losing one of my colors but too much time playing controlly decks made me a little too wary about colors. Also had 2 dead Dispels stuck in hand. Kinda sucked. Got beaten to death by mana dorks + Kessig Wolf Run. Game 2: Kind of got overran pretty handily but major misplay doing Path on KotR on upkeep instead of my own main phase. I think this might have been winnable if I played correctly. My good old KotR tricks used on myself.

Round 3: Jund

Game 1: I spammed removal and counterspells until he ran out of threats, then proceeded to beat him to death with Traft. Game 2: I took a hand with Path, Path, Bolt, 3 lands, and Liliana, with no black sources. He goes T1 Fetch Shock Thoughtseize and takes Liliana. I was ultra-relieved that he chose the one card I couldn't cast. Later proceeded to kill everything he played, counter one of his own Lilianas, and then stick a Traft for the game with backup removal.

Round 4: Amulet Bloom

Game 1: Took a shabby 6 card hand with Serum Visions, Hallowed Fountain, and Island among other uncastable cards. I figured Visions would find me another color. It didn't, and I died to Hive Mind + Summoner's Pact.

Game 2: I'm on the play so I play a land and pass. He tries to play T1 Amulet, but it gets countered by none other than Annul. We kind of durdle around but I manage to counter things here and there. He tries to play Hive Mind when I have 5 mana up with Snap on field, so I play Resto flickering Snap and flashbacking the Annul. What a nasty little 1 drop counterspell. Eventually Resto and Snappy is joined by Traft, but he had just slammed me with a 8/6 double strike Titan, putting me at 2 life with him threatening lethal next turn. He's at 15 life, then plays a Radiant Fountain to up to 17 life. I have a Bolt in hand and 11 damage on the field. His Titan sat there as a nice wall. I had boarded out Helix, so the only card that would have done anything for me was a second Bolt. Luckily, that's exactly what I topdeck. I turn everything sideways and he chooses not to block with Titan because he didn't want to risk it dying, so 11 damage + double Bolt seals the game. However, even if he had blocked, I would have simply killed the Titan with double Bolt and he didn't have the backup Titan at the ready, so I would have taken the game the following turn.

Game 3: He plays T1 Amulet. I Vandalblast it. He plays T2 Amulet, which sits on the field for a little bit before I KCommand it. Then he goes and plays a third Amulet, and I'm out of artifact hate. We play a long game, with him playing 3 Titans and every single one dying to Path. One notable play was Fulminator Mage killing his Slayer's Stronghold. Without the Stronghold, he was unable to give anything haste (and +2/+0 which ended up being highly relevant). I was at 4 after a double strike 6/6 Titan hit, and Azusa began beatdown with the assistance of Boros Garrison. I stabilized at 2 life after chump blocking Azusa with Vendilion Clique, where I found a convenient Bolt to pick it off. He eventually manages to drop a Chalice of the Void on 3, but not before I stick 2 more Fulminator Mages. He's at 29 life after numerous bounces of the Radiant Fountain, but due to the length of the game, I had gotten pretty flooded as the game durdled along, with Colonnade rumbling. He copied my Colonnade with Vesuva, then gave it double strike to attempt blocking my Colonnade, but I had Fulminator to blow it up. I eventually found a Snapcaster just as he found a third Titan, flashbacking Path. The turn before he would have died, at 5 life, he found Summoner's Pact (with at least 20 mana on the field) and the Dispel I had in hand with my last mana open countered it to finally finish the game.

We went about 20 minutes overtime, but it was the last round of the event, so it wasn't a problem.
