Aegis of the Gods so they can't kill you with spells.

This deck already hinders instant/sorcery decks with a lot of cards, so I don't think I could justify pulling anything currently in there out for just the Aegis

First, I was really busy yesterday, so this is a tad delayed. :/

Isamaru, Hound of Konda is strong in 20 life formats, but in 40 life formats he'll be dead before he does anything impressive. In EDH, you want creatures with abilities, so they can do something other than attack, as half the time a creature won't get to attack more than once, with all the wraths in the format.

Serra Avenger is fine, but she also doesn't really have an amazing effect, other than being really efficient.

You missed the auto-include of Sol Ring, which goes in every EDH deck for its ability to tap for 2 mana with a 1 mana investment. I'd also recommend trying to get at least 35 lands, or you may never be able to cast Iona due to manascrew.

Yo, saw your deck in the forum for "Advertise Your Deck". Sadly, I don't know much about mono white. I usually run Esper. I do like the deck though. I wish I could give you advice because I really like your deck, but I just don't know that many good white cards. So will a +1 suffice?

Thanks for the feedback! At the moment I feel my landbase is more than what I need. I can tutor up Land Tax if I fall behind, and if I absolutely need to I can Path a creature I don't need to nab an extra Plains. I figured with my avg. CMC being under 3 I could get away with a few less lands than I normally would play. Two 7-drops and a 9-drop, although worth playing, I don't think would be breaking to not be able to cast in a game. None of the decks I play against are terribly fast to begin with.

Have you considered classic Avacyn? She'd be great for stalling and turns your little dudes into walls.

acbooster says... #7

She's good but not quite the utility I need for this deck. The big utility for this deck is to grind the game slower with cost increases, blanket denials (a la Linvala and Torpor Orb and the like), and limiting resources. Giving my stuff indestructible would be nice, but there're better bombs in the deck.

Gotcha. Sorry, EDH is not really my thing, but I didn't want to leave you hanging (I totally upvoted it too). I guess my other suggestion would be Hanweir Militia Captain  Flip from SoI.

This seem like a fun deck. But there is one or two cards that I think that you should consider since this is a mono white deck.Crackdown and Pearl Medallion. And since the name of the game is Ramp, why not Sword of the Animist?

It's better to have blanket effects that hit everything than it is to have ones that don't hit your stuff. It's entirely possible that I'll go up against another white deck, in which case Crackdown becomes a dead card pretty much. Sure I can lock down their big colorless creatures, but that's not going to be very many if any at all. Plus if you're swinging with anything bigger than 3 then you're swinging to win, and you have the cards to get rid of Meekstone if you need to.

Pearl Medallion I guess could make it into the list, but it's not really all that important and I don't know what I could remove for it.

This deck doesn't actually ramp to get ahead, it catches up with everyone else. Note that Land Tax and Knight of the White Orchid both require an opponent to have more lands than me. They're meant to not only keep me up to speed with everyone else, but also to help me recover more consistently after an Armageddon hits the table. If I end up really needing more ways to catch up, white has a ton more effects like these. These two are just some of the best.

Catching up is a plan B. In commander, as soon as you achive mana sufficiency to play the big cards, you can pressure everyone in the table. I'm pretty much aware of what can happens if people start to ramp with artifacts and avoid to play another land in order to not conceed Land Tax a free search in the library. I know by experience that cards like these and Weathered Wayfarer are very good when they work but sometimes unreliable. They are used to prevent the player not to fall too far behind.

Now, mono white are able to play some few ramps. Tithe, Burnished Hart, Gift of Estates, Solemn Simulacrum, Sword of the Animist not to mention tons of artifacts like Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Thran Dynamo and Gilded Lotus. This will make even easier to recover after a Ravages of War. And the simulacrum can be abused with Emeria, The Sky Ruin as a chump blocker that give you a land and a card draw every turn.

Good day sir (I dare to take this guess, as female players are scarse... Go girls!!)

I notice two things:

1.) Create custom categories; you have a story and tactic to share and you use a format which is perfectly fit for using custom categories. See my deck if - most unlikely - you don't have a clue what I'm talking 'bout.

2.) Mono white just screams for a powerfull draw engine, but card advantage is pretty lacking in mono white. There is however one powerfull combo; Land Tax & Scroll Rack. The basic drill: Start of upkeep search for 3 plains, then in mainphase activate Scroll Rack and change at least your 3 plains for new cards. When the next upkeep starts you search for 3 new plains and the former top of the deck gets shuffled away, meaning you got rid of the plains and get new value when using Scroll Rack in the mainphase again. Then you could possible change even more cards/bulk for powerfull stuff. Pretty nifty heh ;-)

Huh, I never thought of using it like that. Definitely worth checking out for sure, any ideas on what I could take out for it?

Chancellor of the Annex is mana hefty. In the opening hands its a great tool, but after that I feel its pretty mediocre. And looking at her in your opening hands is pretty rare (statistically speakin')

April 7, 2016 10:44 a.m.

What about Static Orb and/or Aven Mindcensor?

Oop, I guess I forgot to un-tick the box saying the deck needs help. The list is pretty much set in stone, any suggestions have to come with what card should be replaced and why exactly I should make the replacement. The big concern now is budget since I don't want to break the bank on new cards when I still don't have some of the pricier essentials like Linvala, Keeper of Silence and Sword of Fire and Ice. While the cards you suggested aren't that bad price-wise, I've looked at both of them and considered them before, but neither ended up making the cut.

Neat list. Hatebears are so much fun to inflict on people.

Sun Titan will be very happy here, lots of nice things to return. Minor nonbo with rest in peace, but RIP is only 1 of your 99. Also, many decks will be desperate to destroy RIP, and sun titan can bring it back in those matchups.

Tangle Wire basically time walks opponents, especially with all the taxing effects. You can remove a fade counter, then tap it, so it affects you about half as much. A stax staple.

Your land count is very low, especially when you run stuff like elesh norn and iona! In fact, Iona seems like an ideal card to cut.

Tithe is basically land tax #2. Hit those land drops, baby.

Condemn is cheap, but its restriction to attacking creatures is pretty bad. I would consider an alternative removal spell, Journey to Nowhere or Declaration in Stone perhaps, or cut it entirely.

World Queller seems a bit awkward, as you frequently control a creature, an artifact, and enchantment, none of which you especially want to sacrifice.

Overall my changes would look like this:

Out: iona shield of emeria, topplegeist, whitemane lion, world queller, condemn

In: Plains, Tithe, Tangle Wire, Sun Titan, Declaration in Stone

Mmm good points all around on them all. Topplegeist holds a special place in my heart so I think it'll stay in, and Declaration in Stone I'll pass on because it's a bit much right now, especially since I'm cutting cards that I already have in my possession. The other changes I will make though, I agree with all of them. Sun Titan slipped my mind because I had traded mine away the day before I started making the decklist haha

Downright villainous

Rebuff the Wicked + Mana Tithe for trolling. Rebuff isn't bad on its own, and with tax effects, Tithe easily catches players off guard. Nothing like countering the spell they have been plotting for three agonizing turns.

Surely, Luminarch Ascension. You are already a prime hate target with Thalia, so YOLO. Unending value for 1W.

April 8, 2016 4:46 a.m.

acbooster says... #20

The deck isn't meant to be evil or trolly as much as it's meant to be firm and permissive. My goal with playing it is to provide a tough match-up for the control players in my group and allow people who don't want to play control to have more fun in games. I simply don't see any place I could make the swaps for any of the cards you suggested.

But Entreat the Angels is an easy swap for Luminarch Ascension

Might I suggest switching over to Snow-Covered Plains and using Extraplanar Lens since you are mono color and would only turn on your lands. Imposing Sovereign over Topplegeist in my opinion.

April 16, 2016 2:03 p.m.

acbooster says... #24

I actually already have Blind Obedience to do more than Imposing Sovereign and it dodges more removal. The main reason I don't use Extraplanar Lens is actually because there's already a mono-white token deck in my playgroup that uses it hhhaah. The last thing I want to do is give him more mana to use for stuff like Martial Coup

The taxers are almost all symmetric effects. In order to gain more advantage from this, I'd recommend running a large amount of ramp, to try to break the symmetry. This is what makes the workshops decks so powerful in vintage. some good ramp choices are Wayfarer's Bauble, Solemn Simulacrum, Burnished Hart, Knight of the White Orchid, Kor Cartographer, Mox Diamond, Explorer's Scope, Mind Stone, and Terrain Generator
