So when Thantis's art was leaked onto reddit a little early along with the other C18 commanders, I knew immediately what was probably going to happen:

1., everyone and their grandmother would try and force Spider Tribal which, if you've seen the description of my Ishkanah deck, I have very strong opinions about (hint: I think its complete garbage).

2., I would probably want to build it in some way, whether it was actually a decent tribal commander or not.

Now that both of those things have come true on top of everyone immediately dismissing Thantis as garbage without even bothering to look at what he's capable of, it's time for me to unveil this bastard of a deck.

Let's talk a bit about the commander here. Thantis herself is a fucking unit. She acts as a form of nuclear deterrent by growing larger whenever you get attacked, she forces everyone else to attack and leave their field wipe open to attacks unless they have summoning sick creatures or defenders, and she herself can defend against anything short of a deathtoucher because of her built in vigilance and reach. Her tagline shouldn't be the Warweaver, it should be the Lawnmower because she just mows people down like they're nothing. Thantis is the spider in the back yelling "everyone attack" and that turns the game into a ballroom blitz.

"BuT sPaStIk, ShE dOeSnT hAvE aNy PrOtEcTiOn!1!1 ShE dIeS tO rEmOvAl!!1!!1ONE!11"

Hmm, gee, yeah, that's true, if only it was possible to...I don't know, maybe build the deck around protecting the fucking commander?? Like of course, she can and probably will eat a kill spell or die during Damnation, but not every commander has built in protection.

With that mini-rant out of the way, the basic premise of this deck is full on Group Slug. Everyone gets hurt in near equal proportions, your opponents will more often want to fight each other rather than fight you either out of fear of making Thantis larger and stronger or because of the enchantments and artifacts this deck runs that deal damage/cause life loss when you're attacked or because of the effects that give bonuses for attacking certain players. Of course ending the game with Thantis through commander damage is also possible, usually by making her unblockable with Rogue's Passage or the equips that make her unblockable in some way and barreling in at Mach 9 to dome someone. On top of this, the deck also runs an infinite in the form of Aggravated Assault and Sword of Feast and Famine, allowing for infinite combat steps, leaving your opponents open to an endless onslaught.

At the moment, the deck's incomplete if you're reading this, I'm working on finalizing the spells and then I'll be getting the land base set up. Expect more updates as time goes on, I want to show the world that this 8-legged lawnmower is capable of more than just dying to a kill spell or being the general of a bad tribal deck that runs Arachnoid just to stay on theme.
