Thanks kapow20, would you trade the guild gates for Silence or basic lands?

Most of my decks run 22 land and 2 colours, you can use the charm for card draw. You might also want more aetherling as its the win con and gettig one out is very important to the game

OK, thanks. I quite like the idea of substituting land for card draw, as it also ups the probability on Supreme Verdict .

I was thinking about the ability to get out the AEtherling and was wondering if Ring of Three Wishes would be a viable option. Adds some flexibility, if not speed. Also toying with Ascended Lawmage as a potential wincon - although I suppose he will get Supreme Verdict ed before making a dent, without any decent enchants. I have seen a lot of Jace's in similar decks for the extra wincon also. Maybe you're right though, simplest option is an additional AEtherling .

Jace would give you draw. If you got for the hexproof flying look into cipher cards. They are perfect to be attached to the lawmage.

Stolen Identity might work with Pacifism in the deck. Last Thoughts , Hands of Binding and Hidden Strings all have some merit. Trait Doctoring seems situational. I guess the downside here is I probably would not get the cypher out at he same time as the Ascended Lawmage , unless I invest a bunch of cards.

Jace, Memory Adept would seem to have a place here both for card draw and wincon.

22 lands in a control deck? The absolute lowest you want to go on lands for a deck like this is 25. It seems like a lot, but you need to hit land drops every turn in order to stabilize and control the board until you get to your finisher. Also, I don't know your budget, but Mutavault can be pretty good as a 1-of or 2-of in a deck like this. It doesn't die to sorcery speed removal, so if your finisher doesn't quite the get job done, your Mutavault can push through those last few points of damage.

I had a look at the cost of the Mutavault at the local store, and they were around 16 euros a pop. I do agree the card fits very well here. I guess it can't be enchanted though other than with Haunted Plate Mail , that would be handy. Probably I can stretch the budget to one, given their useful in pretty much any deck. I will pump the lands up to 25 and let the mana curve dictate what I drop.

Nice take on enchantments for removal spells. The weaknesses of it are obvious, but in the new format, they might make Thassa, Goddess of the Sea much better. I'd give her a shot. In a list like mine, she seems terrible since I'd pretty much never take advantage of her as a creature...she'd just be a Think Tank . But with your Claustrophobia s, etc., she seems much better. Maybe try one to see how she plays!

Thanks Feldspar09. That was what I was thinking, and it will be interested also to see if there are any global enchantments along the lines of Omniscience or a blue version of Martial Law in the further Theros spoilers. Claustrophobia works only if cast after wiping the board, which limits the options. Nonetheless - I'm convinced. We'll find a spot for her and then maybe also Thassa's Emissary !

Also consider Elspeth, Sun's Champion . Excellent card to add three 1/1s after a Supreme Verdict . If you get her ultimate, that makes them 3/3's with flying.
