Consider Staff of the Mind Magus . It's a better version of the Kraken's Eye .

@bigness: That would be a pretty sweet combo, and Dark Depths is VERY flavorful, but that price is crazy right now. I'd love to add it in the future if it ever drops or gets reprinted.

@Dabadoobop12: The Kraken's Eye was really only a flavor add, I'm not too concerned about life gain since I'll often have blockers or bounce effects, but if I ever do need it Staff of the Mind Magus is probably a better choice.

This is Glorious, you could put in a Trench Gorger , its a late game win-con on its own.

I like it Vexaethis! I'll see if I can fit him in.

I was just thinking about making a Sea Monster deck. You beat me to it. Damn.

In any case, what about Spreading Seas ? Gets you an Island, removes a troublesome land and gets you a card. Also, are you considering any other counterspells just to prevent control decks from running all over you?

Spreading Seas seems decent, and a good enabler for things like Thada Adel, Acquisitor and Stormtide Leviathan , so I'll consider it.

As far as counter magic, the more games I play, the more I want counterspells like Arcane Denial , Hinder , etc. The deck draws and sees a lot of cards from scrying, so I'm thinking of dropping Thassa's Rebuff , a few bounce spells and maybe a fatty or two for some hard counters. It will make me sad to see some of the flavor go, but it makes me more sad when I can't counter stupid/mean/nasty EDH spells.

Yeah, Hinder , Counterspell , Dissipate and Stubborn Denial should all be decent. Pact of Negation never hurts.

@Casey4321: Serpent of the Endless Sea is a decent card, but I don't like the conditional attack clause. For the 5 mana, the new C14 Stormsurge Kraken is much better.

@jfly517: I had Quest for Ula's Temple in for a while, and it was underwhelming. I'll be adding a few more creatures soon, so it might hold move value then.

You should name this deck "Release the Krakens!"

Why not run Gomazoa in addition to (or in replacement of) Guard Gomazoa? The potential for someone having their commander tucked acts as a much better deterrent.

Damnit, never mind me. You have it in here. Don't know why I didn't see it.

It's ok TwoMagicDudes, jellyfish are tricky like that :)

Master of Waves would be good in this deck.

Hey Spicy526, I thought Master of Waves would be good as well, but it turned out not to be as great as I hoped it would be, or at least with the way I play this deck. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I hate how they leave Squids off Whelming Wave and then print Chasm Skulker. Makes me sad inside. I run Whelming Wave in a Wrexial, the Risen Deep EDH deck to great success. +1.

Hopefully they'll make another version of Whelming Wave that names squids, jellyfish, crabs and starfish!

I hate blue, never thought I would ever play it because I hate it so much. Thassa adds good utility and also makes for a great way to make blue aggressive. So I have made a blue deck with her as well. Nice deck but for me Consecrated Sphinx is a staple in blue. It always has amazing card draw for me.

this is in my budget for a new EDH and quite like the theme so i'll have a go at putting it together :) +1 of course!

things i'll try out off the top of my head would be Reef Worm Dulcet Sirens, Extraplanar Lens, Wayfarer's Bauble, Solemn Simulacrum, Strata Scythe, maybe Gauntlet of Power

That's awesome FridayNightShift! Always nice to hear when a list of mine gives someone a starting point for their build.

Since you mentioned some cards, I figure I would comment on them :)

I like them all except Dulcet Sirens, which is neat when you're in multiplayer, but a dud in 1v1 or when one opponent is left. Reef Worm has major flavor, but it's hard to take advantage of the token generation in this build, since you'll have to rely on your opponents killing it. Strata Scythe seems especially good and I may even think about it for this build! I mean, how badass would Thassa look sporting a scythe whilst unblockably (is that even a word) smashing face?

I have a question for you. I've never played with Gauntlet of Power since I'm not a fan of helping my opponents in any way. How good is it, and how often does it backfire?

i use in my mono green with full knowledge that everyone in my group plays decks with green including another mono green, yet i still cast it because it puts me in a strong position. also it only hit basic lands and with allot of people electing to play multicolour the downside become negligible imho compared to the upside. most notably when no one else is playing blue ;)

yeah the scythe is really underrated, pairs very well in mono decks while filtering out a land and even better when other players have islands on the board.
