Thank AaronMosh! It's great to hear about others enjoying this deck as much as I do. There's just so much fun in dropping stupidly large dudes while you're messing with the board and the stack. I only get to play every few weeks, but I'll be making updates within the next week or so once my Sun Quan, Lord of Wu arrives. Since you're running this list, anything you would cut for cards in the maybeboard?

On the topic of Dark Depths, I would consider running it a) if it wasn't $50+ and b) I had more consistent ways of abusing it than running Vesuva and/or Thespian's Stage. All of the other lands in the deck I would want to copy are legendary, so those are potentially dead draws. The only other way to use it would be to straight up pay 30 mana, which I suppose is doable over a turn or two with the doublers, untap effects or Deadeye Navigator + Great Whale .

I do have a few suggestions.

Gauntlet of Power even though it would have the same effect as Caged Sun, just remember that Gauntlet of Power effects everyone on the board both for the +1/+1 counters and the tap for mana.

Engulf the Shore could replace Devastation Tide, since Engulf the Shore is an instant and is a little bit toned down from all non-land permanents. That is what Cyclonic Rift is really good for, I could also see the argument of having two cards like that in the deck for emergencies.

The problem with Thing in the Ice  Flip (which is the reason I think it will go down in price) is that the card takes several turns to transform and when it eventually does can be bounced or killed since it does not have hex proof. However I do see the benefit of having it since it is only two mana and doubles as a 0/4 blocker. If you wanted to put it in the deck then it would be a good replacement for Scourge of Fleets, as it is cheaper and you get a bigger creature. Plus Engulf the Shore does the exact same thing as Scourge of Fleets

I can't really say anything about Sun Quan, Lord of Wu though, as I have no idea how it would fit into this deck.

Other than that keep up the good work and I will continue to follow and provide advice as best as I can.

I also have one more suggestion, Upheaval would be a crazy card to use. It could almost always work in your favor since in later game when you have boat loads of mana. You tap out with all you mana and end up with like 20 mana in your pool, then play this and since you stay in the same phase that this happened play all the creatures or artifacts that you would need with your remaining mana in the mana pool to win the game. All of that while nobody else on the board has any lands, artifacts or creatures.

I'm fine with Gauntlet of Power possibly helping other people, as I plan to make it benefit me the most. Extraplanar Lens has the same possible drawback, but so far it's been great.

Thing in the Ice  Flip will most likely go down unless some deck seriously abuses it, but I think it's a great addition to this deck since like you said it comes down early and gives us some protection. Flipping it will be nice benefit when possible.

I'm rethinking both Sun Quan, Lord of Wu and Engulf the Shore. Sun Quan would have been a fun include, but looking at the deck I can't find anything I want to cut for it. Engulf the Shore is kind of nice, except it does hit our creatures as well. That might be a dealbreaker for me, but a 4-mana instant-speed board wipe is enticing.

Devastation Tide is kind of a pet card for me as it was one of the first board wipes I had access to when I got back into Magic, and I played the hell out of it! I also really like it in this list because it's on theme, can deal with token armies and typically swings the tempo of a game in your favor especially when you miracle it. You have a good point about it hitting our stuff, but we can usually rebuild quickly with all the ramp available.

Upheaval is banned in commander, but something that isn't banned is Sunder. That's a card we can easily play around and would be perfect to play after something like Cyclonic Rift or Distorting Wake.

Thanks for the input AaronMosh, I'll keep it all in mind when making the next round of changes.

Hey! So i love the deck!! Im sooo going to build this soon! Also another thing that may be usefull is a Halimar depths, Kira, the great glass spinner and maybe door of destinies. (That one may be pushing it idk) but I was looking at those two, the depths and Kira i figured they may fit in this deck! :3

I have another suggestion for the deck. So far one of the main issues that I have had with this deck is that I have lost control of my creatures numerous times to other control decks. Homeward Path pretty much fixes that issue, since this deck doesn't really use other people's creatures against them, it would be perfect. Also since it is a land you are almost guaranteed to keep it.

Also if you wanted to stick to the theme of the deck you could also consider Miren, the Moaning Well as an interrupt to the creatures getting killed/exiled/taken and think of it like thassa sacrificing them for the good of the deck.

@Zerraphon: I used to run Halimar Depths but it just kills me to play a tapped land on an early turn when I could be dropping some ramp or Thassa. I'm also trying to keep the Island count up for High Tide and the just added Gauntlet of Power. Kira, Great Glass-Spinner is a really good card, but she does prevent us from using Thassa's unblockable ability without paying double and knocking down the shield she puts up. It is something to consider though since it's a very powerful effect. Oh, and have fun building out the deck!

@AaronMosh: Homeward Path got cut a while back (don't remember what for), but you have a good point and it's back in. I'll also consider Miren, the Moaning Well since the life gain can be relevant.

Thank you both for the suggestions!

ok so i was looking on gatherer, and idk if these would interest you but Deep-Sea Kraken may b nice, since you can suspend it, and its protected because it's exiled, I hope this helps! I don't know what cards you know about so yeah! :P

I really enjoy this deck. I just finished one like this but went more of a budget build for a challenge in my current play group. I would say check it out and see if you have any ideas for it. Rising From The Deep! Krakens attack!. I am surprised your not running Quest for Ula's Temple but I do see it is in one of your sections for theme upgrade.

FeralKitten you have built an awesome themed deck that plays very well. I have gone through the deck several times and I can't come up with anything else to change about the deck. I really think that the deck runs almost at peak performance and there is almost nothing left to do for it.

I did however find that if you would want to, you can switch all the regular Islands out for Snow-Covered Islands. Extraplanar Lens goes based off of the name of the land and it is very unlikely that the opponent will have any of those in the first place. So as logic would dictate this deck would be the only one to benefit from Extraplanar Lens.

Also as a side note, even though Thing in the Ice  Flip is a good card I just don't like what it takes to flip it. I managed to get my hands on a cheap Dark Depths, so instead of running Thing in the Ice  Flip I ran that. I would say that the results are pleasantly surprising as it is rather easy to crack it and nearly impossible to remove the land from the game. I think I would almost say that it is an even trade for me to use that instead. I also really like how it fits the theme of the deck very well since it is a mythical planeswalking kraken.

After doing some further looking I found Scrying Sheets, which if you ended up switching out the regular islands for the snow ones then the deck would greatly benefit from its ability.

I think that Scrying Sheets would be a good replacement for Reliquary Tower in this situation.

I'm guessing this is for multiplayer. Would you play it 1v1, or what would you change?

Found this deck just now doing a search for current Thassa EDH decks.. Love it and have found a few similarities to my scratch built deck, yours of course being very refined and much more powerful.

Here's a couple interesting cards i've run in mine that are fun as hell to play.

Stolen Identity is nuts.. With it's Cipher and Thassa making stuff unblockable you can have any of your opponents creatures or you can just keep popping out big unblockable Krakens. It's a "Cast" as written on the card!

Tamiyo's Journal as a Tutor. It's not the fastest but it's always there giving quick card draw or a full on deck search.

Surrakur Spellblade Get a couple charge counters on him and make it unblockable.. Draw cards = to charge counters.

Thanks for keeping your deck up to date, it has some great idea's I look forward to working with.,

I troll a lot of decks on this site but don't feel compelled to comment very often but this is such a sweet deck. I play semi-competitive lists (I like agro and voltron-syle lists so I run Sigarda, Bruna and Rafiq) but I wanted to build a fun, thematic deck around Thassa and I stumbled on this.I'm competitive but not cutthroat but the competitive player in me wonders what you would do differently if you a) had an unlimited budget (you mentioned not running Dark Depths because it's stupid expensive) or b) worried a little less about being on-theme.One of the reasons I like this is that I think it's pretty powerful while staying true-to-theme. Remora is a really good card in the format and it's fishy so it feels right with Thassa. Would you consider running any planeswalkers? Sadly, Kiora isn't mono blue and she's the only one who seems to work here in terms of flavor but are you dead set against a Jace or Tamiyo because they're off-theme or do you just not want to run them?At any rate, I'm going to give this a whirl. Great stuff!

I built this for a budget build. There are times I will play this deck and think what I could do to make it stronger or more competitive instead of just a fun theme deck. When I get time I will have to put something together that is not budget and just slightly on theme of big sea creatures. SFCD Thank you and keep me advised on your possible deck. I don't play a lot of competitive EDH and look forward to what you come up with.
