If one of your main goals is to ultimate your planeswalkers quickly, might I suggest running one more The Chain Veil just to ensure that you get it?

You can tutor for it with Liliana. And you won't always want it in your hand. Running one ensures you can have it when you need it, and have it in yoir library when you dont.

Please don't play The Chain Veil . There has never been a bigger win-more card ever printed.

I will continue to play The Chain Veil for a few reasons.

A. It is not a win more card, it is a win condition and allows walkers to be ultimated faster, bringing you back from where ever you were at in life totals.

B. This thing + Ajani +Elspeth/Garruk allows for the ultimate in the turn Ajani comes out (as long as elspeth or garruk was out first), although killing ajani.

C. Had i been running more, i may have cut them down to one, but i am only playing one so i will keep it that way.

D. This thing is a frikkin savior, not a win more card. It lets you say, make a beast with garruk, 6 soldiers with elspeth, or 3 soldiers and destroying a creature, etc. I don't know why you think "There has never been a bigger win-more card ever printed."

You need card draw. Read the Bones or Sign in Blood could work well. Indulgent Tormentor is to expensive to be a good card draw source, he is more of just a large creature.

Not all of those fit. I may run one nissa, but not more mentors, they don't fit well. Ajani steadfast is the combat tricks here. He is necessary to ultimate walkers turns early. Also, Garruk is one of the main focuses, and he needs to be 3-4 in here.

Definitely will consider nissa to make my lands threats.

I would not use Nissa because she only makes forest threats and untaps forests. you only have 5 forests, so there is no point. The ultimate is the enticing thing, but it takes to long. Run more ramp instead of nissa to make the deck more explosive. Love the deck and great build!

in garruks wake could actually be relevant here if you find yourself with lots of mana. Like play it as a singleton.

Nissa, Worldwaker

Nissa makes any land a threat, not just a forest. She can only untap forests, however.

A singleton of In Garruk's Wake would actually be a pretty good idea, thanks!

On a unrelated note, did you know you can target a 4/4 land creature with Progenitor Mimic and you'll make 4/4 lands that can still tap for mana?your upkeep

I've been playtesting this deck and there is a mana problem!! Far too often I'm left with cards hanging in the hand!! Therefore you should take out one Elspeth, Sun's Champion and one Brimaz, King of Oreskos , or whatever else you'd prefer, and add two more Elvish Mystic . I would like to try it that way.

Otherwise I love the deck! Otherwise I wouldn't playtest it.

Do check out my ramp version of the Apex Predator:

Garruk's coming! Let's start testing!

What have you been testing it with? draw hand on tapped out? I use untap.in and it is very realistic and actually shuffles.

Brimaz, King of Oreskos with one flows perfectly with the synergy of the deck. Elspeth, Sun's Champion as well. two more Elvish Mystic s disrupts the speed and flow of the deck. More ramp is unnecessary, in my opinion. I almost never have non removal cards in hand.

Thanks for the input!

How does the deck fair against Esper control?

Duoyuy21

I haven't played one recently that i remember, but i would assume it would do nicely. Esper doesn't have threats like garruk to eliminate other walkers. Yes, it has Hero's Downfall but so do i, and most esper decks don't run more than 4-7 walkers, like jace and Elspeth.

However, there are no counterspells in this deck, which is why i run mistcutter in the side, to play against decks like esper and bant control.

Duoyuy21 says... #23

I can see how it can deal with verdict easily. Since you mostly make tokens verdict doesn't hurt you to much but they do have dsphere which easily deals with garruk, elspeth, ajani and even the veil if they figure out the key to the deck. Also if it gets to late game they have counters (which hydra avoids) and Sphinx's rev.

Duoyuy21 says... #24

Maybe look into Stain the Mind for easy removal for Sphinx's rev.
