i thought so, that's why i have him in my side deck (of sorts) they both run into delicious combos with nightshade either by paying into him or drawing cards. mmm ping'd to death.

To be honest run both. BOth can be in the deck and can be on the field at the same time

I'm really surprised to not see Cloudstone Curio in this deck.
I'm not sure I agree with some of your card choices:
I don't know how I feel about Guided Passage . I guess it's good if you don't play any obvious combos. Ulvenwald Tracker is also kind of iffy. I realize your general has protection from two colors, but I'm not sure that's enough to make this card worth including.
You could upgrade your land base by dropping a few cards:
Consider adding some more useful lands:
card:Alchemist's Refuge
You could also make use of some other cards:
card:Sensei's Divining Top

(This is a continuation of my comment on mine own Souls Get In Free).
As an example of what I'm talking about, you could replace several of your ramp spells with Frontier Guide and, since you run Deadeye Navigator , Borderland Ranger -type effects. Ring of Kalonia could be replaced with Crowned Ceratok or Bramblewood Paragon for the trample and Immaculate Magistrate or Simic Fluxmage for the counters. Or you could leave in the ring and throw in the creatures anyways.
Just some ideas. : )

Meant Farhaven Elf rather than Borderland Ranger .

as far as counters i have though of Vigor . if he and animar are out i can block anything and animar will only get bigger. i see what you mean about the ramp spells and i have thought about obtaining a Farhaven Elf . all in good time though. the deck works and i have lots of fun with it.

I don't really think Magebane Armor belongs in this deck. I'd drop it and add a Gilded Lotus , especially because Animar doesn't reduce the colored costs for creature spells.
I'd drop:
I highly suggest adding the cards in your maybeboard to the actual deck.

Vigor is very fun to have here, as is Forgotten Ancient . I also run Inexorable Tide , though it ends up being fairly expensive since its an enchantment. Fungal Behemoth is also great because, even if you don't use his suspend, he still generally enters the battlefield as a large/large. All of these cards can help you get +1/+1 counters on animar or your other creatures.

Awesome, ill look at what I can afford this round and make some upgrades :). Thanks both of you guys. Although I do like Crowned Ceratok for the trample. But If I could get Brawn into the graveyard. It would be better

Let's see, you already have Eternal Witness and Deadwood Treefolk .
Archaeomancer , Izzet Chronarch , Mnemonic Wall , and Charmbreaker Devils for instants or sorceries, any of the cards with soulshift (though those only bring back spirits [especially Iname, Life Aspect ]), most creatures with the Phoenix type (like Magma Phoenix and Skarrgan Firebird ) can bring themselves back from the grave to your hand, as can the ravnica eidolons (ex: enigma eidolon), anything with the dredge ability (ex: Golgari Brownscale ) can do much the same, Cartographer , Groundskeeper , Harvest Wurm , Tilling Treefolk , and Crucible of Worlds help with lands if you're facing land-hate, Dowsing Shaman for enchantments, Grazing Kelpie puts two cards on the bottom of your library, Moldgraf Monstrosity , Woodland Sleuth , and Paleoloth work for creatures, and Vengevine can be fun.
All that being said, the best card for this job has to be Genesis .
February 23, 2013 3:38 p.m.
awesome. i'll definatly add Genesis to the list. and i'll look at those others as the deck calls for them :) thank you both
February 23, 2013 5:37 p.m.
nice combo, although i already have something that gets rid of creatures with AEthersnipe and the evoke is nice

March 10, 2013 4:07 a.m.
