Tiny Leaders Competition —Feb. 22, 2015

We had a Tiny Leaders Competition at our local game shop.

This Deck went 2 - 1 - 1 and came in at fourth place. Considering I hadn't done a lot of playtesting and fine tuning I'm pretty happy how it turned out.

Round 1: Lost 0 - 2 to Geist of Saint Traft

He had perfect Answers to my threats and repeatedly slammed down Brimaz, King of Oreskos and Sword of Fire and Ice, while I didn't see Wear / Tear. Maybe I'll need to add a bunch of more Counter spells

Round 2: Win 2 - 1 to Grenzo, Dungeon Warden

Relentless Goblin Aggro deck, Won the first game on the back of Mystical Tutor into Bonfire of the Damned when he had played all his creatures to get lethal next turn.

Second game i was overrun, happens.

Third Game I drew both Rolling Temblor and Pyroclasm. He had Sulfuric Vortex so it was still a close game, and I won at 3 health.

Round 3: 1 - 1 against Anafenza, the Foremost

Two close games in which both he manged to play Anafenza, the Foremost on turn 2; followed up by Doran, the Siege Tower. Somehow I managed to survive the first onslaught, but he closed Game 1 with the card advantage of a Sylvan Library. Second game my sideboard helped me out a lot since both Combust and Celestial Purge appeared in a long game, finally I was at 10 mana and top decked Bonfire of the Damned to kill him shortly before the extra turns.

Round 4: 2 - 0 against Seton, Krosan Protector

In the first Game he mulliganed to four cards and needed to keep a 0 Land hand. He drew a land on turn two and tried to recover with Glimpse of Nature. At that Point i had Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest enchanted with Spectral Flight and hit him for 12 damage and next turn for 14 damage to take the game.

Second game, I had Rolling Temblor in my opening hand and 3 lands. I cleared the board on turn 3 and proceeded to pound him with Geist of Saint Traft and Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest until it was game. To be fair he had bad hands in both match ups, it should have been a lot more difficult for me to bet him.

DECK CHANGES

Post Tournament

casey says... #1

Maybe Monastery Mentor? I think you could maybe stand to take out Mantis Rider for it. Mantis is a sweet card, but it's not doing too much for you in this deck.
