This is my second enchantment based deck. The first deck was based off of the Aura Thief + Enchanted Evening combo. If you want to check that one out here's a link... The Art of Enchanting This deck will instead be based off of the card Starfield of Nyx.

Why starfield of nyx?

For only 5 mana Starfield of Nyx can not only "wake up" all your enchantments and allow you to swing for the win with them, but it also can turn your deck into a reanimator deck by bringing back enchantments from the graveyard. Most cards like this would send them to your hand, but starfield puts them right onto the battlefield. The best part though? The reanimator effect it has stacks! If you have two Opalescence on the field you're not really adding anything new, but with a second Starfield of Nyx you can double the amount of enchantments you're reanimating! Not only that but the card itself does have some interesting reactions. You can turn god cards into creatures without even meeting the devotion requirement. For This deck i chose not to use any of the gods but i've seen starfield decks with Pharika, God of Affliction, Nylea, God of the Hunt, Athreos, God of Passage and Heliod, God of the Sun in it that placed well in tournaments.

Why use abzan instead of selesnya?

The two most common color combos for a starfield deck are selesnya and abzan. I've also seen decks that splashed blue for Font of Fortunes and Monastery Siege. The reason why i chose to splash black is simple. I really like Brain Maggot and Doomwake Giant. Both are solid cards that work very well with this deck. The main difference between the two choices is whether you want to go aggro or midrange. Abzan works a little slower but once it get's going it's much stronger, while selesnya will just try to get everything rolling asap.

How well does the deck work?

You can tell it's gunna be a fun deck just by looking at Starfield of Nyx. I mean cmon who wouldn't want to lock down opponent's with cheap enchantments and then turn them into creatures out of nowhere? It surprises people and it's fun, but is it effective? The first few turns will be for Brain Maggot, Journey to Nowhere and Oblivion Stone to exile all the biggest threats to you while Nyx-Fleece Ram acts as a good early blocker that also gains you life each turn. If you're lucky enough to draw Herald of the Pantheon in your opening hand then by turn 4 you have starfield out and half their hand exiled. adding a one drop elf that makes mana like llanowar elf can make that turn 3, with it reaching critical mass as early as turn 4 so you can swing for the win. Sphere of Safety completely shuts down their chances of attacking back and Doomwake Giant can easily wipe out the field by itself. Kruphix's Insight and Eidolon of Blossoms gives insane mid game card draw. You could probably add a Reliquary Tower to be safe but imo you shouldn't worry about throwing away enchantments unless they have graveyard hate because you can always just bring it back to the battlefield with starfield. If you're looking to spend more money this deck could be competitive but i went the budget route. So to answer the question, yes. this deck can be good if built and used right.

Other options of cards you can use...

Because it's not budget i did not put in Greater Auramancy but for 2 mana it would be a crazy addition to the deck. I also had a similar feeling about Serra's Sanctum. If only it wasn't so expensive :/ Ghostblade Eidolon would turn into a 3/3 when starfield hits critical mass. 3/3 double strike for 3 mana? Hell yeah! Aegis of the Gods would be a good choice against burn decks. Frontier Siege and Citadel Siege are always good choices. Commune with the Gods would add even more search and give you more ammo to bring back to the field with starfield. Sigil of the Empty Throne is good but i felt i had enough 5 drops in this deck so i left it out. Nyx Weaver helps dig for starfield and gives you more graveyard ammo while giving you a blocker for flying creatures. There are a lot more choices depending on what colors you're using but those are some of the most common choices that i've seen in other starfield decks.
