Tormented Hero synergizes with my enchantments. Plus Shadow Alley Denizen is really weak on her own, which is bad for a deck were power matters the most. And usually we don't have to worry about their blockers until Turn 3~5, which is where Mogis's Marauder comes into play. If anything, I'd throw in whatever the red denizen guy is because he can get to 3/3 easily in this deck.

Hellhole Flailer cannot be killed in response due to the cost being sacrificed, instead only the ability is on the stack, unless they can Voidslime the damage will go through, I Also think Bloodfray Giant could be used because he can kill the infamous four toughness and still trample, he is a little slow but can help if a game drags on.

If you are going to make an unbugeted version you should use Rakdos, Lord of Riots and use Mogis, God of Slaughter

Good call Arorsthrar! Tormented Hero being tapped upon casting and not being a beneficiary of Mogis's Marauder 's haste giving ability (but still getting intimidate) if I cast him late game had me searching for a replacement. Triggering his heroic (life loss for them/gain for me) with a Madcap Skills or Deviant Glee can be a deciding factor in a close game! I would never attack with a weak Shadow Alley Denizen because she would die, lose her ability, and be pointless... A pumped up Tormented Hero could wreck some shop and burn my opponent.

I second CrazyScience on adding a Mogis, God of Slaughter and a Rakdos, Lord of Riots for a more expensive version of the deck.

Not necessarily unbudgeted, but more expensive.

4 Drops that can't immediately attack are too slow for this type of deck. Mogis would at most be a shock or Devour Flesh and Rakdos would be nothing but a hard to cast 6/6.

I'm making a scaled up version of this deck for FNM coming up. I'm putting in Arorsthrar's suggestions of:

-4x Rakdos Guildgate +4x Blood Crypt

-2x Deviant Glee +2x Exava, Rakdos Blood Witch

I'm also bringing in 4x Temple of Malice . My only question is why should I take out 4x Swamp for these instead of 2x Swamp and 2x Mountain ? If I take out four swamp I might find myself looking for the mana.

Sideboard:

3x Dark Betrayal

3x Doom Blade

3x Duress

3x Mizzium Mortars

3x Skullcrack (I hit two life gain decks last FNM)

The only expensive upgrades were Blood Crypt and Mizzium Mortars . The rest was really budget. I'm bringing the Rakdos Rage this Friday!

Personally I believe that Mogis, God of Slaughter could be a great addition for this deck. Why? Because he's pressing continuously your opponent with 2 damage or a sacrifice for no mana at all!! plus there is a chance for him to become a 7/5 indestructible creature helping you finish the game for good

But your opponent should be dead by the time Mogis, God of Slaughter has done anything more than a Shock .

Yeah, in terms of 4 mana I'd rather have two Rakdos Shred-Freak s than a Mogis, God of Slaughter , they represent 4 damage straight away. Hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast. Love this deck!

I just took this to my first FNM ever. I went 2 and 2! Lost 0-2 to a hard hitting Golgari deck with Desecration Demon, even though I sided in the Betrayals. Next I easily took the 2-0 win over a slow Golgari deck. Faced an America control after that and just barely lost 1-2 in an insanely close game 3. Last I played against Boros burn and managed to pull out a 2-1 win. I love this deck; thanks a ton!

I bought a Temple Garden for more than this deck's overall cost. Still this is truly an amazing piece of work!

Hey man, I've used your deck today for a comic con competition today and i came in at 6th place out of 30 people WHICH IS AWESOME. What i did was replace 4x Rakdos Guildgate with 4x Temple of Malice and replaced 2x Minotaur Skullcleaver with 2x Mogis, God of Slaughter and it went awesomely well. i usually end games by turn 4 - 7, and i got 14 boosters!!! All i have to say is THANK YOU!!!!!!, man without your deck i wouldn't have been top 8. Thanks again!!!

If you are going to go unbudgeted, you should put in 4 Desecration Demon instead of the Minotaur Skullcleaver s.

Just got this deck in the mail for a grand total off..... $7!!!I play tested it today and it absolutely wrecked the competition at school, one on one it was often over by turn 4, and i gained over 20 hp with Tormented Hero +Mogis's Marauder Pure Awesomeness+1

usohatchi Do you mean triggering heroic on Tormented Hero with the Mogis's Marauder ETB effect? The Marauder's ability won't trigger Heroic

I know it's out of the curve but Rakdos, Lord of Riots could do wonders in this deck. Maybe only 1 though.

It's not a spell, it's an ability that targets.

hassankachal Rakdos, Lord of Riots is amazing in the right deck. THIS deck might even be that deck...but it does cost 4cmc, and requires damage to be dealt on the turn it comes into play...
