SevynnthDimension, I use titan's strength in my version of this deck: (Formerly) 20$ Rakdos timely combat tricks have been the difference between winning and losing in many of the games I've played with this deck and the scry is great.

Agreed. I had cheap aggro quite similar to this and I used Titan's Strength I just wanted a second opinion, so thanks

I've considered Titan's Strength , and I'll look back at it again. I'll most likely replace Shock .

August 20, 2014 11:34 a.m.

I did have a question about the Gnarled Scarhide s...are they that important to the deck because I'd leave in the shocks and take out the scarhides...

Having 3 one-drops in play on turn 2 is the key to beating Mono Black Devotion and Orzhov Midrange decks. In addition, Gnarled Scarhide can clear blockers and provide a mana sink.

Ah okay makes sense, I did not think of that

This deck is awesome! Everything seems to mesh together so nicely. Though, Tormented Hero kinda seems like the odd man out. Is there a special reason for having it in? Have you considered replacing it with Crippling Blight , Coordinated Assault , or maybe Hammerhand ?

@TheDeepOne- How does Tormented Hero seem like the odd man out? He is a 2/1 for 1, fitting in perfectly with the aggro theme of the deck. Don't let his heroic ability throw you off; it's just an extra ability that occasionally becomes relevant. I don't want to add any more non-creature spells, as I think the deck has a pretty good balance now that is capable of beating Mono Black Devotion.

How about Foundry Street Denizen? Nearly all our creatures are red, so foundry would get boosted a lot.

@Arorsthrar- I only say Tormented Hero doesn't seem like he fits too well because he kinda slows the deck down. This is all about speed and winning ideally before turn 5-6. Sure, he's a 2/1 for 1 with a somewhat relevant ability but he not only doesn't have haste, he comes into play tapped. I see what you're saying though. You want more creatures for maximum damage. It's too bad there aren't very many better alternatives this set to replace him. I agree heavily with Gnarled Scarhide though. I thought that was a clever add.

My friend whines SO much every time I bring this deck out.

"Ugh it doesn't count because you didn't make it yourself."

Me: orly? Well, if that makes you feel better keep saying it. :D

"Ugh, you basically always win the exact same way. It's dumb"

Me: Oh so the deck is consistent? Cool!

"Ugh, I don't care if I loose because this is basically a precon deck"

Me: What precon deck actually wins?

I love this deck. <3 <3 <3 Thanks Arorsthrar

August 22, 2014 11:20 a.m.

@TheDeepOne Entering tapped doesn't make him any slower than any other 1 drop. He can still attack for 2 the next turn, which is why he plays 12 1 drops. He's literally exactly the same as Rakdos Cackler when you think of how much damage they would deal over the game, except Tormented Hero might deal a bit more due to heroic.

Yeah I gotta say this deck is friggin sweet. Iv been getting 1st at fnm with my esper build but wanted to make sure it was in ship shape for an up coming tournament...apparently its not cuz truly the only way for me to win against this deck is verdict turn 4. thats gnarly. Just throwing some praise and hoping Khans brings some excellent replacements. I would plus 1 solely for recognition that playset of Spike Jester is whats up . amazing card, great deck!

I have Dragonskull Summit and Blood Crypt which could use ?, you think of Fists of the Demigod + Rakdos Cackler ?, Using dual lands mana as you would use? (I use 15)

Arorsthrar says... #16

Lykan- those cards aren't standard legal. And there is no way this deck would survive in a modern environment.

Any replacements for the rotating cards?

Additions from Khans so far...

Ruthless Ripper

Jeering Instigator

War-Name Aspirant

All show promise!

With standard slowing down so much, a super fast aggro deck definitely has a place in the meta!

I got all excited with the spoilers and made a version of this deck post rotation. Let me know what you think! Ruthless Rakdos

Blood Crypt is still legal at time of writing...

I think using Blood Crypt would break the $20 price tag. Add it if you want if you're running a non-budget version.

Have you thought of any Khans of Tarkir cards yet, because the RTR block is going extinct.

Love this deck so much. It is cheap so I don' t have to spend so much on mythic rares. +1 I have'nt tried it out in a FNM, but it wins almost every time against my friends.
